@cbrepairguy Thanks for showing the internals of the President Washington. Because of you i was able to do the conversion to the 11 meter band! Thanks a lot and 73!
Thanks for posting. I wish someday there would be a radio with a decent S meter like the Icom 7300 or Xiegu 6200 (the 6200 even has -dBm which is extra awesome!)
It takes 4 times the power to increase your signal by 1 S unit, or 6db gain. Double the power is 1/2 an S unit, or 3db of gain. There is no significant difference between 75 watts & 110 watts.
Yes, it probably draws quite some current with IRF transistors. Built a pa from China some time ago with really huge IRFs and they produce good power up to 20MHz. On 10m you get 25W out with 15W in!!! But there are no driver or predriver transistors on the pcb.
There really not the choice for 11 meters but I think because they are cheep is why they use them. They are not properly tuned at 50 ohm so you have an impedance mismatch as it is and the hotter they get the more current they draw.
Nice radio would like to hear the over-the-air audio with echo. The only thing I didn't like about the president Lincoln two plus the echo wasn't that adjustable. Is the echo on this radio the same ?
I have a president thomas I purchased for its size I want to mount it in my pick up. Was trying to find out if I can run a power amp something about 100 to 150 watts. I know the internals are surface mount tech. So not able to peak and tune.

Thanks, It's a great radio...
bought a stryker last week and now i wish i bought this.
I like this new washington alot.
But i like my 955 far better.
Sweet radio my next one
Best sounding mobile CB radio ever was the TRAM brand. As soon as you heard one on the air, you knew what it was.

I’ve had multiple people tell me my Lincoln 2+ does 2 db less vs my 955 on am. 2+ does 50w 955 does 100. Explain that one
The scope was clipping on neg peaks....Right after the higher wattage adjustment. Why don't you run a 1khrz for audio? strange

This should have been a base station in my opinion! 😢

Absolutely it should've been, we need more base station radios.

Can you show how the power mod is done

Did you replace the finals or just convert, turn and align? That's a great jump in performance.
Just tune and align.

It sounded perfect with the mod too.

What’s your antenna setup?
Seems like a prime candidate for upgrading the power jack to the XT90 connector.
It would take a little work as the casting on the housing is very close to the power connector. It would take some grinding to make it happen.
