As to why you would perform one of Shakespeare's worst works, when I was in college orchestra we played a piece that was rather long and unforgettable by a composer I had never heard of. After the first read thru the conductor told us that he specifically chose a lower quality piece because A: Sometimes in life you get paid to work with low quality material and you have to learn to make the best of it and B: Great repertoire does much of the work for you as long as you are basically competent but lower quality can only be successful if you bring something to it that wasn't initially there.
They're also dirt cheap to hire parts for because they attract very little audience. Bad music isn't going to give you some miraculous reinterpretation.
It’s a shame that James was made to feel unwelcome because he voiced his opinions but in a roundabout way it got him where he was meant to be, the universe always has a plan😊
Yeah, everyone bypassing that like he almost ended his life because he loved it so much & watching the buffy dailies his acting is incredible. He has a mix of anxiety and drive it's a good thing he got therapy later in life because yeah amazing talent.
I'm glad James stuck with acting and did not listen to those who told him to quit. I have enjoyed his work. I feel like his performances were the ones I remembered. He did not waste my time as an audience member.
Love it ha! Sounds like something I would do. You think someone is playing 5D chess with you, because you assume the crazy thing they are doing, must be part of their brilliance to test you....Then you challenge them and find out they are just dumb. 🤣
He didn't actually call her a wonderful *person*, just a wonderful *actor*. Those can definitely be two separate things. Sorry to hear that awful story though, I'd never heard that.
@@AshleyMarks- Sorry but I did a search on Ving Rhames and he does not have an Oscar. He does have a Golden Globe though and other awards but not an Oscar. The host was incredulous at the fact that Ving Rhames went to Juilliard.
who is the interviewer? I'll have to google him, he says he's made moveies.... let's see. James Marsters is unique. Yes. One of a Kind. So thankful he chose this life for himself so that I could know him through the screen
i keep hearing garbage about Julliard about how everyone ends up fighting with the school. as much as I hate that sometimes it works. oddly enough most person who struggled in julliard do well outside of it.
Wow, so they kicked James out for stating the truth. 😮 That's messed up. Seems like such a humble guy he's not lying people pay good money for shows, movies etc.
Yeah, a real Brit may have seen through his accent but I was also shocked when I first found out he's American, his Spike had me convinced he was British.
Surprise surprise, you hurt a girl’s feelings (the director) so they passive aggressively tried to kick you out for 2 years before finally letting enough to lapse to cowardly kick you out for good.. I both love and hate the creative arts community.
That's the attitude that I love. The audience is giving you 3 hours of their lives and it's a crime to waste it.
I love this interview with James, he seems so genuine and thoughtful. As usual Michael - superb interview and style.

James Marsters is one of my favourite voice actors:
"I'm not good at ADR."
That makes me so happy. Anxiety really is dumb.
Imagine we could've ended up not having a James in our midst because of douches calling him out on not being able to act 😢

So weird, I’m so proud that I love Spike the character and James Marston the actor.
He speaks so beautifully
What an incredible man…he’s excellent in everything he’s done…thank you James❤

Buffy to Dresden great stuff!
It's never OK to be that verbally cruel to someone.
Wait. He was in college when MASH ended? How old is this guy?
*Googles*
Damn. Ok, even with gray hair he looks pretty young.
I am gobsmacked that he is 62 years old! He looks amazing!
He’s 62…handsome still

She's a wonderful person? She cheated on her husband and told him that the baby was his.

HE has an Oscar. BTW
Who has an Oscar?
Ving Rhames has an Oscar. My all caps he was in reference to how the host said it incredulously.

@@SRX2004 dang. Good catch! My mistake.

He's Lex Luthor, bro
He played arguably the best lex luthor of all time
i keep hearing garbage about Julliard about how everyone ends up fighting with the school. as much as I hate that sometimes it works. oddly enough most person who struggled in julliard do well outside of it.
They knew he would be in Dragon Ball
Everytime i watch james do a broadcast i think of zamasu doing the broadcast
Ving Rhames went to Julliard?
Mind blown🤯
The title alone makes me like this guy even more.😅 Don't ask me how

The Arts are so toxic.
You mean he’s not British?
No 😂
Yeah, a real Brit may have seen through his accent but I was also shocked when I first found out he's American, his Spike had me convinced he was British.
@@brentbartley6838 Anthony Stewart Head took him aside and made him learn a proper accent. He taught him his accent from his area of England.

How old is this?
Older than an hour
Two weeks.
