"I said look I have seen an email at work which is explosive and has the potential to prevent the invasion of Iraq."
This is Katharine Gun, a whistleblower who tried to stop the Iraq War in 2003. She had received an email from the NSA that revealed information that would have given legal cover for the Iraq war. Frank Koz, the sender of the email and head of regional targets at the NSA, wanted British assistance in blackmailing diplomats into voting for a resolution.
When Gun read this email, she decided to leak it to the British press. The story made front-page news and she and coworkers were interrogated by U.K. intelligence officers. In her defense, she claimed the invasion itself was illegal and put the war on trial. The UN vetoed the U.S. resolution to invade Iraq, but an American-led coalition still went ahead, leading to over eight years of war.
"The only consolation I have of my actions is that it basically prevented a UN resolution on Iraq," she said. Gun's story inspired a film starring Keira Knightley, "Official Secrets."

i was puzzeled when i knew that she was acquitted. I know that in many counries all around the world goverment would do anything to keep the power so they put people like Katharine in jail for 20 years or more. I'm so glad she is free. It hasn't stopped the war, nevertheless Katharine fighted the whole country and won. She is a hero and a legend.
