Britain's Emma Raducanu continued to rewrite the history books as she became the first qualifier ever to make a Grand Slam final, sweeping into Saturday's US Open final where she will play fellow teenager Leylah Fernandez.
The 18-year-old qualifier from Kent defeated Greek 17th seed Maria Sakkari 6-1 6-4 to set up the first all-teen final at the US Open since 1999, before either was born, when a 17-year-old Serena Williams beat an 18-year-old Martina Hingis.
Sky Sports spoke with the US Open finalist's coach Matt James who says her potential was always clear, but no one expected her to break through so quickly.

It's wonderful to see this lovely young British lady in the ladies final. Can we also congratulate Jamie Murray and his partner Bruno Soares and Joe Salisbury and his partner Rajeev Ram for getting into the Doubles final. We are guaranteed at least one British Grand Slam winner this year, fingers crossed it's at least two as we have representation in the wheelchair tennis too.

Then Sharapova was the next despite having a horrendous record against Serena. Raducanu is beautiful, humble and mixed aswell which ticks the multicultural box. This is only an opinion that maybe wrong but this is what I’ve seen in the women’s open. Fernandez has won all her matches against the seeded players, the last of which was against second rank.
Fernandez has the hunger in her to win every point, but her form is a bit awkward , she does not have the experience and ball placements of a seeded player.
But Fernandez does not have this superstar ego to think the she’s better. She is composed and very humble, much like Raducanu.
On the other hand, Emma R. has better Court vision, ball placements and form. However, her wins were never against seeded players.
Keys to the match is the will to win and composure. Whoever loses the two traits will go down.

Agree. Even Billi Jean King said that women tennis becoming more and more boring compared to the 90's to mid 2000's when female players were more varied in style. In the last 10 years, female players hitting up and down all the time from baseline. Showcases power & inconsistency. Once a female tennis player got hyped, they're more interested in becoming celebrities: like Maria Sharapova and Naomi Osaka. Too bad Asleigh Barty who once was considered as the new Kim Clijster, has become inconsistent as well
