Great tutorial! To the point, step by step, no superfluous word and very understandable. Additional information in the template name would certainly also be useful, e.g. 'delay' or 'chorus', but anyone can do that as they need it.
Thank you so much for this useful information sir! I have a question hope your can help me... why do we have to wait for 2 sec for the effects to take effect using the loop fx pedal. Can you please help me sir?
thank you so much for taking the mystery out of this. I was very intimidated about buying a loop pedal of this magnitude, but you've put my fears to rest.
Thanks for posting all of these, you have been my guide in learning how to use my new rc300...used an rc30 for years and years so for the most part it's pretty intuitive, but you definitely have eased the learning curve!
Most useful video of any RC300 tutorial I've seen on TH-cam! This one concept will save me a lot of time and errors. Thanks for posting! I've liked and subscribed.
Hey, thanks Greg! You'll love it - worth every penny. It's by far my most go-to piece of equipment, simply no-hassle and endlessly useful. Check back in and let everybody know how you're getting along with it! Cheers, Bruce
Hi Bruce, I bought the RC-300 a while back, but could not understand how to use it via the manual. Through your excellent videos, I did some reverse engineering and I'm now using it on my acoustic solo gigs.
thank you sir, i was thinking of purchasing one of these and you just helped simplify my decision...looks like a lot of fun and not too complex to navigate!
Very helpful. Thanks. By the way, I believe the Loop FX pedal turns FX ON/OFF by default, so I think the separate assignment in the template is not needed -- or, rather, is only needed if the Loop FX pedal function is changed to ASSIGN (only) in the system settings.
Thank You so much Mr. Clayhorse!!! You make the impossible to understand so understandable...your vidz are invaluable to me... most appreciated. HOWIE G3E
These RC-300 videos that you do are really helpful, thanks for putting the time into doing them. I have a question regarding the volume controls on the expression pedal. Is it possible to affect the volume for say only the track that is playing back? IE. If I wanted to fade one track in/out while keeping the rest of the tracks going and didn't want to change the stop function for that track. What are the options for what it controls?
Cool, can you have effects just on mic input? And does the delay sync to the tempo?...and can you have reverb on all tracks too?....thanks, been looking at getting one of these.
Thanks for the very helpful video. I hope you make more. This is a cool tool with mind blowing possibilities. But whoa, something as complex as this could really use a computer configuration application. Think Fractal Audio where you can visually adjust everything on screen.
Dang, i understand how great this unit is, but it just gets to be so much, so deep, with boss'es interfaces, (seems so typical on some of their products) I am still considering purchasing this unit, and i hope that i can get used to repetitive programming, so i can remember this and use it with enjoyment.
Thank you - very helpful. Having set up the Loop/FX pedal and EXP 1 pedal as shown I find that the FX switch does not light when I press it. Nor do I get the delay effect we programmed. Am I missing something here? Obviously I must be doing something wrong but I have been through the video tutorial twice now and everything else has worked perfectly.
Hi Bruce, thanks a lot - you have a great style of explaining the mashine... One of the best Videos in the whole www.I Think every important point is included- and not one word too much. that's what I call "structured" greeting from Germany!(we love good structures , right ? ;-) haha...
thank you so much! I'm going to have a little performance soon and the idea of the template will be very useful. Do you know if there is also a way to save a different effect for each track in the template? thank you again.
I figured it out. Need to specify the operation off the Loop FX Pedal and set it to "Assign" as a system setting for it to be used in the way you described. It won't work if it's se to "FX ON/OFF + Assign"
This is also what I was confused about. I even saw that option and didn't think to change it. Thanks for sharing. And thanks to clay horse for sharing these videos.
For the Loop FX Pedal Assign... according to this videos instruction... it requires a SYSTEM SETTING change or it won't work... SYSTEM Parameter "Sys: LOOP FX Pd1" has a default value of "FX ON/OFF + ASGN" change to "ASSIGN"...
I have come back to this video each time i need to make a new preset so i hope you're making a bit of money off it, lol! I have a question though, and I wonder if you (or anyone in the comments) has figured out. I want the Loop FX to toggle guitar->bass on/off, and i want my exp1 pedal to control delay for my input. i CANNOT seem to get BOTH to work (it allows me to set up bass on some presets and delay on other presets, but not combined). It seems as if it only allows you to use one effect per memory. is this true or just user error?
Can we assign loop fx button to clear all 3 tracks ? if not is there another way? Maybe holding down to start stop button? can we assign that to clear all tracks? Thank you
Hi love your channel. The LCD screen on my RC-300 has gone blank so I cant read any titles, input titles, or anything that requires use of the screen, editing etc..The red track numbers 1 - 99 are still visible, as are all other lights..do you know how I can fix this? Thank you
do you know how to hear a audio input but not record that? i have a drum machine e want to hear the beat but not record (i dont have a mixer vet and i have pluged my phones on the rc300 only, thanks!
Thank you for this great video! I wanted to ask you if you use the guitar to bass effect. Do you have experience with this effect? I tried it and I was not satisfied with the outcome but it might be just my settings.
I love your tutorials on the boss RC-300. is it possible to assign the Fx/loop pedal to toggle the rhythm/drum loop on and off. So I can utilize all 3 tracks for guitar or vocals and kick the rhythm/drum beat in and out anywhere during my songs.? I am having no luck figuring this out. However I am new to the Boss rc-300 .
Hi Greg. Please check out my two new videos on Jan Hammer's "Payback", for sake of argument. To do something like that takes days of setup and days of practice getting the timing right - so if I understand where you're coming from, trying to keep things more simple. I would say the RC-300 is a necessity- it is extremely useful, intuitive, and very easy to use. Don't buy anything less - you'll end up upgrading anyway. It also has some decent effects built in, and really no market competition.
Something is wrong as I am only getting volume control on both examples. I am not getting any effects despite following your instructions. Please assist.
Thanks for a fantastic video. QUESTION 1: I presume that you can also just use a "template" directly in live performance without having anything pre-stored in the tracks, and just record the tracks directly live? Is that right? And 2) Is there any way to use the "loop effects" on the straight-through sound? For example can I have the reverb always on while there is no loop playing back? Thanks!
Thank you. I have been researching Loppers. I am wanting to put together a one man show. I am a lead guitarist and singer. Have you in suggestions on using my pedal board verses using something like the boss GR-55 or any other effects processor.
Hi. Do you know if there's some way of having affect on just guitar, without effecting vocals.I play and sing at the same time (and do looping on both guitar and vocals. But if I for example have distortion on the guitar, then I have the same effect on my voice as well… And nothing I could do about that. Please help! P.S. Thanks for the video. Very clear and helpful explanations!
You guys know How to make the effects stops without holding the FX pedal for 2s ? Cause 2s is a huge amount of time ! I would need to turn off the effect instantly
dear clayhorse, thank you for your tut. But I have some very questions I cannot seem to find an answer for. So when I kick in the loop fx pedal it will not react unless I hold it down for two seconds and then it will just opperate as an option pedal from which I can choose an effect with the track 3 pedal. but I cannot record an effect. I want the effects only to occur for instance on track 1. and I want to immeadiately start with this effect. and the effect to be recorded in the loop, the I want the next two tracks without the delay edffect. is this possible or would I have to attach a seperate effect pedal? how to do this I have been searching the whole wide web for hours now. If you could help me that would be great. thanks
Great tutorial man! Bought the RC300 and preparing my first templates. The thing is I want track 1 to be my drums because I use kajon. Is it possible the track 1 will keep looping endlessly while I record on track 2 and three? How do I program the pedals for it? Don't want to use the default drum kits. They sound synthy.
Thanks Bruce , great video, have you ever found a way to download rythm tracks directly to the rythm memory so they become part of the rythm library ? Thanks for any input on that subject, I control the drums or rythm independently with my volume pedal on the 300 and a ernie ball vp jr for my guitar is why I ask , Thanks again
hi dude ,,great vid,, can you record a bass effect with first track ,chorus effect with the second track and lets say delay with the third track and every time you press on selected track it play the effect you chose for that track or is it a case of you can only use one effect for each memory slot ?
Why do I still need to hold down the LOOP FX pedal for 2+ seconds to get my effect going? And then why can't I record that effect? The light for track 3 flashes while im using the effect, the loop fx pedal light also flashes, my effect WORKS, but i can't record it onto a track, which is the entire point....
Just in case anyone runs across this problem!!! Click on the System button. click the right arrow once and it says "Sys: LOOP FX pdl" and under it, you need to scroll with the memory/value knob to the right to make it say "ASSIGN" underneath. then click write. This fixed my problem. Good luck to you all!
I followed your instructions precisely. The loop volume assignment to the pedal works fine. But... for some reason the FX pedal will NOT toggle the FX on and off. I've made sure I've followed all your steps. Please advise. Something missing? Could other assigns be in conflict? FX pedal still works when I hold down for 2 secs but that's not what you intend right?
im confused. is there no way to SAVE my loops to the numbers? Say im on number 84, I made a loop and a accidently hit the knob and it jumped to 85. When i put it back to 84 everything was erased?
I'm Portugese... You're amazing! There's no videos like yours about programing... My english is bad, but those videos are very helpful... I Would like to know how can I connect a Gr-55 to my loop station Rc-300 to a pa system...
I have enjoyed your videos and your analysis, however I'm still unclear if/how I can create an A & B part so that one track has the verse and when I press the second track it stops the verse track and plays the chorus, and I can go back and forth.

Hi, love the vids. Has anybody found a way of keeping the rhythm going when all 3 tracks are off. I don't like to lose 1 track just to keep the rhythm going. Thanks.
Maybe you have ESP!? Right now I'm working on my next video which is going to combine the RC-300 and a synthesizer for the ZZ Top song "Legs". Not the GR-55, but I will be doing that also in the future. And your English is much better than my Portugese!
Great tutorial! To the point, step by step, no superfluous word and very understandable. Additional information in the template name would certainly also be useful, e.g. 'delay' or 'chorus', but anyone can do that as they need it.
GREAT tutorial! The RC-300 has a huge range of flexibility. Key is to know how to master it. Keep the tutorials coming! Great job.
Clay horse you deserve a bloody medal for this.
Chad Jacoby thanks for the update.
Thai you so much for all of your help. I ordered my RC-300 yesterday and should have it Wednesday. Can't wait. Your vireos are great. Greg

I truly appreciate your teaching style!
Thanks a lot ! I just got one second hand yesterday and i will follow your advices. Best regards from France 😊
Thank you so much! I appreciate the way you explained each step! That was super helpful!
