I did have the chance to research ghost and habanero peppers and did find out they are still usable in an unripened stage but their heat level will not be as strong. Also, it is normal for a ghost pepper to turn from green to orange and red (red being its last stage of maturity). Thank you for the mention. You can bring inside a pepper plant for house growing . Transplant it into container, put in a warm sunny window, water it like a house plant and you will continue to get peppers all winter. Transplant back out into the garden next late spring. Peppers are perennial except in colder climates. They should continue to produce peppers for 5 years or so.

It's always sad when annuals succumb to the first hard freeze. But you still have a nice harvest & the peppers you picked all look fine. Oh, absolutely ghost peppers usually are fully ripened when turning orange to red. Perhaps in your shorter growing season you're used to seeing them picked while still green. Meanwhile here in the Virginia mountains it's like Spring again & I mean that literally. Very warm days & cool nights but not anything below freezing yet. As a matter of fact, my Forsythia is blooming as well as my Azaleas & Rose bushes. My Fig tree is ripening so many figs & the banana trees are still putting on growth, both the fig & banana trees must be 9' tall this year at this time! Dahlias also blooming as well as a few flowers on the Saucer Magnolia too. Irises are all poking up outta the ground again. I always get worried when this happens cuz we do still have most of Fall & all Winter to go through still. Will they all show new growth again in Spring & new blooms? But it happens like that around here & I think most of the local things adapted to this area do just fine. I do have some annuals that are showing signs of their impending end with the cool & almost chilly nights now. My Boston Fern is back inside on the table where the cats can munch on the fronds, hehehe! Have a great Sunday & I always enjoy watching your "almost" a green acre through the seasons.

Boy, you really hit the ground running!!! I hope you take Sunday off to rest 💖 Nice beet & spinach harvest! Your pepper harvest was a bit of a let down, but I agree that the beds were a little over-crowded. Half the pepper plants might have produced considerably more fruit. I’ve had the best luck growing peppers in pots, I think because they like really good drainage, and I only put one plant per pot - once in a while two if the pot is huge. I wonder too if the ghost peppers cross pollinated - but I do believe that nearly all peppers will turn red given enough time on the vine. Hey, that vine by your utility pole might be a honeysuckle, not a morning glory - not for sure but maybe. 👩🌾
You are right about the plant by pole. It is a honeysuckle and not a morning glory 🙂I have been getting lots of rest in between all these videos and jobs. I didn't have much choice but to harvest the potatoes, spinach, beets and peppers once I got back, or lose most of it 💕
