Hi this certainly looks like the old Total fuel offloading site at Colwick, They offloaded the tanks and it was pumped down to the Total depot which was on Colwick Industrial site next to the Texaco depot. I worked occasionally at the Texaco Colwick depot from my Texaco depot at Kingsbury near Tamworth. The Colwick Texaco depot has now gone its a Sainsbury;s now.
I live a mile away. This is a new facility built on the 2 remaining sidings of what was the large Colwick yard which closed over 50 years ago. You get a side view from a footpath which goes around a nature reserve known locally as the Lagoons. You have to walk the best part of a mile from a path leading from the A612 just on the Burton Joyce side of the Victoria retail park where you can park but extends the walk by about quarter of a mile buses 24 and 50 serve the retail park from Nottingham or an extra milw walk from Carlton Station on the Lincoln Line. You can only get a view from the path I described earlier due to local geography and in the seasons when the bushes on the lagoon path are not in leaf. I hope that helps.
Ant from Trekking Exploration recently visted the grounds nearby which are seen here. He explained that the former Rectory Junction oil terminal was now storage yards, which kinda surprised me as it was ages since i last heard about this place.
Another lovely video well done great camera work as always I am really looking forward to seeing your next video I hope you get a nice video next time also when is your next video going to be on TH-cam bye for now Philip
Is this the main maintenance facility for Colas then? Where is it? Nottingham? Looks like it was only put up yesterday. Seems to be a huge around of unused ground over yonder there1:54, however has that escaped being sold to the developers?
Would be nice if you could do aerial footage of the east anglian railway museum plus the viaduct in chappel nr Colchester and colne valley railway nr Halstead.
I’d have thought the rental/lease costs of storing/stabling locos at Nottingham TMD made a new purpose built depot nearby financially viable for Colas hence the birth of a new TMD. Congratulations to Colas for being innovative 👏🏻
Looks like there’s plenty of land either side for future expansion. Always good to see new rail businesses and depots, good luck to them !.
Didnt even know this existed! Could almost be a scene from the 80s with all them 56s and 37s!😊

Nice summary - Thanks Gerald 👍
Thanks for the presentation. Did not know of the existence of the TMD

Thanks Geoff - Helpful info 👍
great video, I have a model railway that looks a little like that, also full of Colas locomotives....
I remember Rectory Junction oil terminal and the Maggot farm near the signal box bad in summer

099 looks lonely...
Neil Boden has come a long way since he was an EWS depot/local driver at Crewe 20+ years ago
Hope he gets better soon.

Yes - It’s on the Eastern side of Nottingham. Colas use it for the majority of their loco fleet. 👍
Any idea if 56087 will ever run again or is it spares for the others now?
Yes, but it's awaiting parts currently. JG.
Would be nice if you could do aerial footage of the east anglian railway museum plus the viaduct in chappel nr Colchester and colne valley railway nr Halstead.
And epping ongar railway nr Chelmsford
Great footage, had to mute though didn’t like the music, thought I was hold to my doctors!
🤣🤣 - I can’t win with music choice.. It’s literally mission impossible!
Is it easy to view from the ground?
The upper end of the depot is restricted.. Not sure about from the undeveloped land near where 50050 is stabled. 👍
I can see a well worn path down one side.... Only from this video, I have no knowledge of the area.
Thanks
Lovely locos why is there a 50 there?
50050 is owned by Boden Rail so this is its home depot. 👍
Is the site now occupying the former Rectory Oil Terminal
Which used to be a big freight marshalling yard called Rectory Yard !!
Why did it close?
Same reason most yards closed probably! 😢
@@philwignall6714 decline of traffic?
Traffic decline? Only reason that springs to mind.
is that 56302 near 087
Have you ever done the freightliner depot at Ipswich yet?
Guarantee me 30,000 views on the vid so I get a return on my fuel costs and I’ll drive the 400 miles round trip to do it for you 👍
The quality of your videos you will get 50K easily
How long has that been there!”??
Brilliant, where is this near. Never heard of the place
It’s on the edge of Nottingham 👍
Used to a steam depot and yards many years ago
Would I be allowed to do this next to Aberdeen craiginches with a drone?
You need to read the CAA rules carefully to ensure any flight you make is compliant.
@@trainsplanes alright thanks
Well I never knew about this place. It looks like a cut down version of a bigger TMD, a little bit like a model railway…! 😂
Colwick TMD ? Never heard of it ! Is this a wind up ?
No it’s definitely real 😀 It’s where Colas maintain the majority of their locos 👍
4:26 it’s on the doors and 5:39
It’s here 52°57'27"N 1°03'40"W

Is this a colas rail depot
Yes - This is used by Colas for fleet maintenance 👍
@@trainsplanes ok thanks
Not quite. It's a Boden depot; Boden Rail maintains the Colas fleet.
Never heard of it?
