Of all the genius things I understood in maths class, proportionality was one I somehow never fully grasped. Now I'm just assumed to understand it in my university astronomy class. This video finally helped me get it. Thank you!
Yes, I have made a few videos on inequalities. Go to my Intermediate Algebra Playlist and you will find that lessons 46 - 54 are all about inequalities. I hope that helps you out. :)
this is still difficult to grasp with all this mathematical jargon talk. could you please use more fun relatable analogies with visual imagery? we are humans and visual stimulation goes a long way and it would help a lot more people having difficulty understand this stuff or even have an interest in learning it. it's just a thought and thank you for your work.
I'm in algebra and I'm kind of struggling with inequalities plus an incoming project. Did you make a video about inequalities? Anyway thanks Paul for the vid!
I understood everything. At 4:14 you say to multiply each side by 3. But only the left side (3x6) was multiplied by 3 and the right (k/3 )was divided by 3? which cancels out 3 and leaves you with K.
+Joseph Hernandez It was simply misworded. k/3 is multiplied by 3, or 3/1. He meant the threes cancel each other out since one is a numerator and the other is a denominator. Like, if the equation was 1/3 times 3/1, where the answer is 1, you can do the maths with your fingers or simply cancel out the opposing threes to make 1/1. In this case, k/3 times 3/1 equals k/1.
It is somewhat confusing for me that I have to pause for some second to grasp what paul explained but nonetheless it is very educational(I needed help with inverse propotional)
Great video, but i have a question. If there was a word problem that says: if 3 men can load a lorry of goods in 2 h., how long will it take a) 6 men b) 5 men c) 2 men, to load the lorry of goods if they work at the same rate?" How do i solve this? If you could help me that would be great! Thanx again for the awesome video! :)
is it safe to assume when having problems like these that: Directly proportional: k = y/x Inversely proportional: k = y * x or is it more complex than that?
i have a question : I have a lot question related to formulas where they ask that if a value on the right is doubled the left value will be _______??? something like that . our teachers just taught us to cram . as high school student i still dont know about it .
"Not that hard mate." - Really? Why would you bother saying that. Why does it seem like so many people on social media are trying to one up someone in comments. I was watching something, and recognized the voice from videos I watched more than a year ago, and curiously asked the question... because it was interesting... mate.
"it's only simply pointing out that it's on his channel..." Yeah, that's what point of the first part of the comment was.. and notably, I didn't say anything about that..
+Seleen Mcmillan Yes. x and y can be anything. So if you said x + 2 = 4 you would know x is 2. You could also say y + 2 = 4 or m + 2 = 4. The letters just represent a number. Hope that helps.
I just understand the inverse proportion but the directly proportion here is not the same as our teacher told us and when I do it this method it is not the same uh
I have homework on this and they haven’t even taught it us all of my maths homework since I started year 7 they haven’t taught us any and if we don’t do it we get punished when we don’t even know what to do and they don’t give us any help
can someone answer my question please; y is directly proportional to x when x=3 y=12 write down a formula for y in terms of x (can someone help me before monday)

I dealt with it while studying the equation for finding force in secondary school.
Im literally crying cos i cant understand the word problems i gotta solve 😭 dis video helped a bunch! Tysm!
Same
This is a very simple topic. But the TH-camr has made it very complicated. He just wanted to increase the length of the video 😠
You remind me of a kpop Stan 😭

Thanks, it helped me understand the test a lot, without you i wouldnt have got a sufficient mark, thank you again!
What a time to be alive. Hated math my whole life, and now open to it because of a career change. Thanks for this.
i don't know why this always confuses me.. but this helped so much! thank you!
You helped me a lot
The only problem in world I don’t understand till now in my life
Now I understand
Thanks a lot 😊
Anyone else remember seeing things like this on the projector screen as you're sitting in a pitch-black room in school?
Omg yes
This really helped Allot! Thanks I couldn't understand in our Math book so I ended up searching this on YT and ur vid popped up.. Again thanks!

Thank you........! Eish Wiskunde is baie maklik met jou help!
You explained it better than my teacher
cheers m8 a lot more useful than my maths teacher. also great explanations and explanation speed.
Y is inversely proportional to x. Y=5 when x =2.find y when x =4
Sir you are amazing, you saved me a hole lot of time and helped me verymuch
I'm in algebra and I'm kind of struggling with inequalities plus an incoming project. Did you make a video about inequalities? Anyway thanks Paul for the vid!
How’s life been man. Did you do good on that project 9 years ago?
I understood everything. At 4:14 you say to multiply each side by 3. But only the left side (3x6) was multiplied by 3 and the right (k/3 )was divided by 3? which cancels out 3 and leaves you with K.

my whole class was confused but u solved it
This totally saved me! Thanks!
Glad it helped!

this so helpful i did a math problem and succeeded
this rly helped me but im stll stoopid
Thank you so much I have a exam in this lesson and I don't understand the lesson in the school 🙂🙂
this is gonna save my assessment tomorrow :)
Videos from 2006 are very helpful studypug
Amazing teacher Love from Pakistan.
It's really help me thanks 😘
Thank you so much I was stuck at this problem for so long.
'multiply the left and right side'
proceeds to divide the right side
i never understood this one, now i do, thanks
Marvelous tutorial
Great video, but i have a question. Amazing! It's really helpful^^
Thank you! this was a great tutorial on proportionality!
This really help! Thank you so much

Wow, thank you! This video helped a lot.
I remember learning this in grade 7 i was 11 by the way, as a 19 year old i still dont understand how i understood this
Thank you.
It helped me so much thank you
Why the hell is x=2 in yellow color 😭😭
Thanks man
Have a good one
if v is directly proportional to i, then is i directly proportional to v??
You made this so hard to understand
It was very helpful , thank you
I can't understand
nice. awesome for my testing
How to gat X value in invesenly

Inversely proportional: k = y * x
or is it more complex than that?
i just got an ad telling me to stop watching math youtube videos i-

Is this the same guy that does the paul programming channel?
Yeah it is. Check the channels tab on his channel. Not that hard mate.
"Not that hard mate." - Really? Why would you bother saying that. Why does it seem like so many people on social media are trying to one up someone in comments. Kevin Parsley It's late, but don't get so stressy, it's only simply pointing out that it's on his channel...
"it's only simply pointing out that it's on his channel..."

so what if the letters were not x and y ?would you still use the formula y=kx?
+Seleen Mcmillan Yes. x and y can be anything. So if you said x + 2 = 4 you would know x is 2. You could also say y + 2 = 4 or m + 2 = 4. The letters just represent a number. Hope that helps.
Can K be negative and we still have a direct proportionality? But a negative gradient ?
thanks for the help mate
very helpful, thank you
I have to teach this to 7th graders. Any ideas to simplify it to their level. 7th Grade Minnesota MCA Test has these questions?? Uggh!
I just understand the inverse proportion but the directly proportion here is not the same as our teacher told us and when I do it this method it is not the same uh
100th comment. Great explanation. Thanks
6th graders hi.
Thank you! 🙏
is kf = y kinda like f(x)
I have homework on this and they haven’t even taught it us all of my maths homework since I started year 7 they haven’t taught us any and if we don’t do it we get punished when we don’t even know what to do and they don’t give us any help
Thanks for sharing
how do I determine if the problem is 2y=3x for example
Nice question.also I was wondering...
It is so helpful when watching
Would yall say half life is considered inversely or directly proportional?
Thankyou sir!
tysm!
Hi, may I ask for directly proportional is it possible to have a negative slope where k is negative?
I’m learning this as I’m taking my test 😐
man i joined the channel but i am not showing there? can u check pls , also cany u tell me what app u use for this?
Year 1101 let's just say grammar school techniques are just ass

can someone answer my question please; y is directly proportional to x when x=3 y=12 write down a formula for y in terms of x (can someone help me before monday)
Ellie Hayward
y/x = 12/3
Simplify 12/3, the answer is four
y/x = 4
Take X to the other side, so it will be multiplied by 4.
y= 4x
Mubashwara Mehzabeen ty x
thanks a lot !
i still dont get get why ur taking 1/x or any variable
Thanks, that was easy to understand :)
What if your looking for X ?
You do the same thing no?
I just wanna know that why you put 3 ??
Great..thanks.. it helps me a lot...:D
it was sm more easier then how much u complicated it :/

Wouldn't this just be easier explained with a chart / graph instead of with X's and Ys which is just more confusing :p
