At over 60 years of age (and achieving a Masters Degree at age 56 - but an UNCLASSIFIED at O Level maths back in the day) - I'm just finishing studying for GCSE Higher Maths. If only you had been my teacher at school - you make it all so interesting. Doubt if I'll get much higher than a level 5 BUT I reckon if I'd have spent five years with you I would defo be up for a Grade 9! Thanks for some excellent teaching!
What is your masters in if you don't mind me asking
You’re 60 doing a maths gcse 🤣🤣🤣 so embarrassing
@@Rory-po6ri For whom?
@@chriswyper6214 are you seriously that braindead that you’re doing your gcse 45 years late?
Congrats on your masters!! Age should never matter in education, its never too late to learn :^)
OMG i fully understand this for the first time ever! I did a higher maths paper for edexcel the may 2019 one then i marked and got 30 out of 80. I mainly lost marks because of silly mistakes but i didn't know how to answers some of the questions such as the inverse and direct proportion one or the function or the negative and fractional indices. I thought i should watch the video on how to work out these questions and then make an attempt to correct my answers in my paper. You have helped me loads. I have a non calculator higher mock tommorrow. Could you please give a list of the things that regularly come up and the questions with the higher marks please this would be so helpful as i dont want to waste time. Thanks.
Sohnel Bains Amazing news so glad to hear it’s helping! I would suggest looking at the exam playlist and having a look at some of the papers/practice exams as you will get an idea as to the kind of topics and question styles that appear! As a rule of thumb.. any topic can appear in one form or another! If you require a calculator then it’s a question style that will only appear on the calculator exam 😁🙏🏼🙏🏼
@@TheGCSEMathsTutor thank you sir :) you are so kind god bless you
Lol I'm from the future and have a non calculator mock tomorrow

Nice
I'm only in Year 7 and do the MYP, but I only got a 4+ in Maths. I need this to get ahead. So far so good
good job man
weirdo
Why u revising in year 7?
@@Imda. Some people like to be ahead of the curb
From someone who's further ahead, don't start revising in Year 7. You'll regret it later. Maybe a little bit of stuff if you are absolutely desperate, but that's about it. Even if you are really pressed about revision, there's not even much use starting revision until Year 9, and even then that should really only be for maths and sciences, and then moving onto all subjects in Year 10. And I'm talking about you being really desperate, you shouldn't really feel the need to do that either. I promise you, just revise for tests and do your homework till Year 10 and you will be in a good position. Trying to learn stuff ahead of your level won't help you with what you're struggling with right now. Amazing motivation, though, I wish I had that.
Omg! Thank you so much, I could literally understand direct and indirect proportions rn! THIS FR A LIFE SAVER TYSMMM
thank you mate i was taught this for 2 lessons but my maths teacher solves and taught this in lightspeed, i finally understand it now.
Please do post a video on the difficult exam questions with direct and inverse proportion!

Hi sir ,
Just saw your maths paper 2 video and I got a grade 8 in the test . Thank you so much .
The structure in the test is so similar compared to your walkthrough
Also : I am in year 10 , I’ve done paper 1 last term and paper 2 this term . I got a 4 in paper 1 :( and a 8 in paper 2 . I assume I’ll get a grade 7 in paper 3 next term for my year 10 mocks . What will be my overall grade ?
+
Will you be doing these for the 2020 mocks ?
Thanks in regards
*just reposted Incase you never saw it*
Gunter Congratulations!! It’s hard to say without knowing the raw scores but I wouldn’t worry just wait and find out! 😁 I will be making videos all year so more than likely!

My pleasure! Glad to hear it 😁🙏🏼
Thanks I’m taking my mocks today
Thank you I sort of get it now
Sir, is this how you calculate answers to linear proportion problems and inverse linear proportion problems?
Do you have an example question? 😁🙏🏼
This channel is amazing. Any tips on how to crack GCSE higher maths within 2 months for the November resits?
Thanks Sir! You helped me understand the difference. Thank you so much!
Would the last 2 qs be likely to show up on a non calc paper?
likely
4:57 has an error you are meant to multiply the 4 (which you have done) but have included the division symbols. But very informative and good video.
The tutor actually meant to *divide by a quarter* rather than *multiple by 4* (which are essentially the same), so he was actually correct.
Hi sir I watched a different video on this topic and they used a different formula so I am a bit confused. They did y=kx and so I was wondering if I used this formula, would the answer be correct or would I have to switch the k around?
I use the same formula! Just depends if it’s direct or inverse proportion etc 😁🙏🏼
Thank you very much!
No problem at all! 😁🙏🏼
What does it mean if Y varies inversely
How do you figure it out when the values aren’t given. For example a question could be W is directly proportional to the cube root of X. X is increased by 50%. Figure out the percentage increase in W.
How would you go about working it out?
Great question! There are a few ways to approach this, you could pick values for yourself so picking a number that cube roots to get an easy value for k. Or you could approach it using a multiplier method. I will look at doing a video on one of these questions for you! 🙏🏼
Thanks for helping me,this will help me revise for my maths test
Your a legend !
THANKS SO MUCH GOD DAMN YOU'RE GOOD
ok in the second example, we got root 16, but the result might be 4 or -4 as you said , then how could we find which 4 is right?
A bit late, but both are right so you could write both.
Legend man thanks for that
Exams today, fingers crossed 🤞
Thank you. Very helpful
Thank you ❤❤
thank you helped soooo much
Glad to hear it 😁🙏🏼🙏🏼
very good video thankyou i didnt learn do the swapping of the numbers in the fraction when should i do that?
Thanks so much 😁
No problem at all! 😁🙏🏽
This guy is a legend
THANK YOU !
Are there any videos of matching there graphs with the equation, because that comes a lot in exams
im looking for that too
um the first question was so much more complicated than is should have been u could have just done 28 divided by 7 = 4 then 5 times 4....
My exams in like 15 minutes and I’m watching this 😵💫
Seems like a solid plan, and it came up 💪🏼
Amazing video.
Thank you
Wish me goodluck for my exam today I’ll give an update
