When he was young he showed a lot of potential, "This day is the end of our slavery, the beginning of our freedom, the end of sadness, the source of joy" - Thomas More. There was so much hope for Henry after his father went.... a little "insane" ... we see a true renaissance King, a man that loved to play and fool around , a man who took men of little worth and bring them into extremely powerful positions. his early part of his reign seemed pretty good minus the bleeding of the treasury
I think Henry started off with good intentions ( he was so young it was like he was play acting at being king) but he got so obsessed with having g a son he just lost it. Whether the fall he had had any influence on that we will never know. I think if Catherine of Aragon had had a healthy son, they would have stayed married till the end. Perhaps a few mistresses here and there but that was common. But the ‘son’ issue drove him almost insane and the pain from that ulcer would be extreme. One can’t disregard that. He was in pain 24/7 and he ‘lashed out’ . We will never know. 🙏🙏👵
@@gonefishing167 Oh poor Henry. If only his wife had given him a son . He started out with good intentions you say. It would have been better for everyone, including the 70 thousand of his own people to be executed in his name. If he had never been born. These victims were not even soldiers.
Being a tyrannical monster demonstrates that he used the crown for his own ends, which even good monarchs did, but he persecuted those who weren't even guilty of any crime, he overspent putting the nation in debt, and even before his letter years when he became warped he didn't do anything with the idea of advancing the nation, only to give himself more power and more prestige, maybe more control over his subjects as well. A lot of what is discussed can be categorised as why some people living in dictatorships are happy living in dictatorships. If the dictator lifts people out of poverty, improves living conditions and wealth, whilst not making people so scared to do anything they are constantly looking over their shoulders, does that make them a good dictator? We shouldn't put today's exact societal norms onto Henry VIII's times, he needed to be strong, but he also needed to be fair and live within certain rules and he definitely went too far, and I think showed why he was never meant to be king, and before the death of his older brother Arthur he never expected to be one. I don't care for the click bait titles. If you put more of these out I won't be watching them.
At first he was a good king and Prince , everybody likes him. Everyone just waited for his miserly father Henry vii to die , so that Henry viii could succed him . But the jousting accident, hurted his head so much that he was unconscious for 2 hours and it later it changed his whole personality. 😢
I don't think that was what changed him, remember, Worsley was arrested and at risk of getting executed. Thomas More and Bishop Fisher were executed, he denied Mary and Catherine to see each other, and Anne herself was on a rocky relationship with Henry. all these events happened before his fall. This seems to have started all in one part of Henry's life, The King's great matter.
I think Henry the 8th was a good king too I think he was obsessed with having a son because if he didn't have a son his tutor dynasty would have ended and in his eyes then he failed his father I do think it was Catherine of Aragon who was the reason they could not have a healthy son people forget that she was in the Habsburg dynasty and we all know that the Habsburg of Spain were the most inbred and that's what she was and if you do your research it will say that the women in the Habsburg dynasty don't have the traits of being inbred like the men do do women can pass it on to their sons and I believe that is the reason why Catherine of Aragon could not have a healthy son
Going by this criteria, Hitler must be remembered for the kind things he did for his own people witin the historical context of the time. If Henry the eighth came back, you would be the first one to crave a place in his government.
@@daughteroftime8047 so did Hitler, contextualize it . I don't accept your justification for Henry 8 tyranny. It's sycophantic crawling. He was a mass murderer. That he got other people to do his dirty work justifies nothing for him or his executioners.
Henry the eighth and 6th are 2 sides of the same coin. H8 was a good king but bad man. H6 was a good man but a terrible king. We see which side succeeded whether we like it or not.
You do not mention his persecution of protestants? Anyone caught with a bible, anyone caught reading the bible or believing biblical doctrines. Anne Askew was opposing catholiscm! The Anglican Church he set up WAS catholic, except for the Pope. He also persecuted anyone who refused to declare his marriage to Katherine as invalid. Henry persecuted everyone, of all faiths.

Yes, I agree with that.

@POTO_Phan You are right . The fall made him worse. 😢

I call him a narcissistic monster and a tyrant and a despot. So, no I wouldn’t want to work for him.
He didn't justify it, he contextualized it.

yeah, I always feel pity for H6. Fate chose the worst job for him as an individual.
