- What's up guys! Today we added Apple CarPlay + Android Auto to this E400 Mercedes-Benz.
Installation was smooth and we now have a great added feature in Apple CarPlay.

Nice install. My 2016 E400 W212 with NTG5s1 has the same interior. However, I installed the Android 10.5 Touch Screen and man its soooo much better. Surprize the owner of that vehicle didn't opt for that instead.
Joe A The replacement screens have come a very long way in recent years. We find ourselves doing them more and more often. I offer the solution to our customers however in this case our customer wanted to keep the car with original parts (screen etc) it was also an E400 and extremely clean 👌🏽
The Fitting Bay Best part of the Android 10.5 Touch screen it was all plug and play retaining original OEM screen application with option to switch to Android applications at a touch.

In my opinion this is way cleaner than that metro pcs tablet.
I now see a difference in your video, UCI means media interface. So when activating AUX, you can no longer use the media interface, right ?

Can I use voice to response to messages? Am I able to listen to my factory SiriusXM radio while this unit is enabled through aux?
Nice description of the installation. I have one of these on the way for my 2014 w204. I'm curious as to why the microphone is needed, why can't you tap into the existing microphone? Also, instead of have the USB cable from the can hanging out under your dash, do you think it's possible to use the existing USB outlet in the compartment, between the seats, where the media plug is located?

And using the iphone cable with AMI and selecting media interface on MB, can we have the audio from carplay ?
thanks for this, it would be good to see where exactly you mounted the unit behind the glovebox. How did you attached it? Did you use doublesided tape?
Double sided and zip ties to prevent rattles :)
I recently got a new iPhone 13 and now I always have problems connecting to CarPlay and always have to hold the command button and reset the system to get music and Siri to work. It worked flawlessly with my iPhone 8. I tried factory resetting and forgetting the Bluetooth and no changes. Any recommendations?.
Hey, just curious, if you receive a phone call, and you were listening to the radio or something in the oem system, does carplay pop up, and does the audio work?

Hey i own a W212 from 2010 and it had an Audio 50 Aps unit. Im new with the car an was wondering if the ntg is the same. And if you can do this same upgrade to that unit

Hey mate, can you just confirm that you didn’t need to connect anything into the glovebox and accessing the AUX in settings made it work? Just don’t want to have to remove all no the centre console to run an audio cable in there as others have?
Sound has to come from Aux or USB with adaptor. There's no two ways about it. AUX gives the best sound IMO
Hi, I've been following this video another video very closely and am pretty sure I've done exactly the same. However, I have no sound on both my Command system and Carplay System. I think it may just be a loose connection - which cable is for the sound? Is it the optical lines?

How was the USB connection handled in this install? Does the USB in the center console work as a passthrough?
We ran the new CarPlay USB to the same position in the Glovebox as the genuine USB will not work as a passthrough it is a music interface.
Anyone experiencing a blank screen issue with this whenever it tries to switch CarPlay? I’m noticing this every time the vehicle is park outside when it’s hot.

Tried to install that on c207 coupe 2014. Absolutely nowhere to put wire harness. Crazy wasted money and time. :(

Hi, question about the aux, ive done the settings, but when i connect the 3.5 jack adapter it still doesn’t play through the aux, I don’t have the CarPlay connected, i try just to play something before i start fitting the unit , is that suppose to work for example to play from a ipod? Or you just need to switch it on and don’t plug nothing and it will work? Thank you
I mean i can just plug the adapter like the audi as you said , and no aux cable and will work? Because from ipod I can’t make it play
@@Smart.Tuning hmm depends on the cable you’re using. With the module you can turn it on and it’ll work it’s pinned out in the quad lock

Hey, I just installed one of these and the screen turns black when I switch to the interface. My phone detects android auto when I plug it in, the audio works from my phone, and it seems like the menu options work when I randomly use the knob. The original interface works fine but I can't see the android auto when I switch. Any idea what might be causing this? Thanks in advance. 😁

@@TheFittingBay what I'm saying is I have an e63s with 4 cameras. Already installed from the factory. Front camera under emblem, two cameras on side view mirrors, and a rear camera. How would that all work with this module since it only has two camera inputs?
NewShockerGuy the genuine cameras work as normal. There’s no extra plugs for the factory cameras. These inputs are extra inputs on top of the system as it is. So in your case they get taped up and put away. The genuine camera system will continue to work as normal. If you’re in CarPlay and select R the camera system will come up. If you’re in CarPlay and try to activate the camera system with a button it will not work you’ll need to switch back to OEM screen. Hope that makes sense :)

Is the sound quality on this install digital or analogue?
If it's optic fibre it will be digital regardless because the Aux port converts analogue back to digital sound.

Pedro Futuro we put it in the centre console with the genuine USB / music interface. Yep need to add a new USB!
Can you explain why you remove the microphone (that on the roof)?
Pedro Futuro To put the aftermarket mic in there to conceal it.

Pedro Futuro Factory mic is still used for phone cake etc the external mic picks up voice controls commands :)

Pedro Futuro Calls can be made on either system. And answered on the steering wheel via phone button ;)
