Koah Rong is a really solid season that never really hits a low point. Even the obvious Jason and Julia boots have a lot of strategy to invest in. Cydney has to be among one of the most underrated players of the 30s and in my opinion the clear best player of the season when taking in account the huge breaks both Aubry and Michele get to survive potential elimination. She changes the whole course of the game and does a great job to keep Michele on her side late in the merge. If Cydney loses to Michele I think one would have to argue the likelihood of a bitter jury. Aubry showed some indecisiveness by crossing out Julia's name so she is somewhat to blame for their bitterness but Cydney was ostracized for seemingly just blindsiding the guys and bettering her position in the game. A Cydney loss would have been more controversial than even Aubry's defeat was initially
Kaoh Rong is like the most B grade season of the show. It does all the things of a solid season, doesnt rly have any huge low points, and has okay heroes and villains. It’s just like if you took the perfect season of survivor and hired some people off the street to reenact it.
I haven’t watched yet but I have so many thoughts about why I love this. This was only my third ever live season as an adult and also one of the few seasons I wasn’t spoiled on (before I found Reddit) and it was such a joy and a rollercoaster. The premerge was kinda iconic with Alecia scraping by, throwing others under the bus and the Brains being a mess, Jen, Liz, Pete and Anna’s downfalls and of course the scary medevac. That ep. was nuts. Debbie the mastermind. The strategy was so fun after the merge and although Aubry was probably saved by circumstances: however, her emotional bond with tie being used as strategy to blindside Scot, her and Cydney dominating the strategy (along with Michele) and Michele’s dark horse, underdog win was so iconic. I have to say I was team Aubry at the time but after seeing them both play again their strengths and faults have been highlighted and Michele’s win makes more sense. Cydney needs to return ASAP
Great panel! Loved this re-watch so much more than I was expecting. Appreciated the top 3 for different reasons. #1 so far on my re-watches just barely ahead of Cook Islands.
Been saying Queen Jenny since I watched the Rhap sequester mini and also love Pooya repping for ottawa 🙌🙌... another great panel thanks for having some interesting and not boring opinions!
@@TheMurrmursonbottle agreed, also I had been watching RHAP forever and I'll be honest it took RHAP Sequester for me to take a big notice and love for Jenny, now shes one of my favorite podcasters
so excited to listen! definitely my favorite season ever. great cast, unpredictable gameplay all the way throughout, and a satisfying underdog winner in Michele. i know the medevacs hurt the season for some people, but for me i’m fine with them bc they allowed Aubry and Michele (who are way more entertaining than Neal and Joe) to get further in the game
Nobody asked for this, but here is the list of seasons not yet ranked in chronological order: Borneo (1) Amazon (6) Pearl Islands (7) Exile Island (12) China (15) Micronesia (16) Tocantins (18) Heroes vs Villains (20) Philippines (25) Blood vs Water 1 (27) Cagayan (28) San Juan del Sur (29) Cambodia (31) Millennials vs Gen X (33) David vs Goliath (37) Winners at War (40)
Example of Cydney not getting credit… Rob: The women decided to target Nick Reality: Cydney chose to target Nick to break up that trio of Nick/Jason/Scott, and she went to Debbie, then Aubrey, and then got Michelle and Julia on board to vote out their fellow “beauty”. But that entire sequence is boiled down to “the women want to target Nick”
Come on. Just because they aired a scene of Cydney saying it doesn’t mean she unilaterally made that move. No move on survivor is ever one person. It’s just edited that way for simplicity. It has nothing to do with not giving Cydney credit. She gets massive credit from anyone who ever talks about her
@Raheem Fielder-Bey she was in quite a bit of votes, managed to work with an ex who was ignoring her entirely, she got tons of tokens (underrated social strategy) and pulled through in her time of need which is something barely any manage.
@@TheDylPickle Wendell wasn't ignoring Michele. She actually pre-gamed with Wendell, Nick, Adam, Yul, and Jeremy. She got so many fire tokens because she had friends coming into the seaon, she basically knew all of the new school players, including Natalie
Does anyone happen to have Rob's full rankings so far at all? I've been trying to keep track of them but lost track a few weeks ago (not helped by him moving at one point; I'm not sure if he's even ranked Cook Islands since I don't know if he rewatched it).
I hope I didn't miss anything, but here's his rankings I know of from best to worst: Palau, Kaoh Rong, Guatemala, Gabon, Ghost Island, Edge of Extinction, Africa, Marquesas, Fiji, South Pacific, Nicaragua, Australia, HHH, Worlds Apart, Game Changers, Vanuatu, Samoa, Caramoan, All-Stars, Island of the Idols, Redemption Island and Thailand. I don't have Cook Islands in this list because I don't think he has it in his rankings--to my knowledge.
This episode wont load on audible :( ughh I normally listen during my work commute but ive tried everything, downloading the episode and rebooting my phone, reinstalling the app but this episode wont play so thanks for posting on youtube as well so I can catch up haha.
I'm shocked this isn't top 10. I have it ranked at #6. Easily one of the best edited/well told stories of all Survivor, with an incredibly well balanced cast, drama, blindsides, not too meta, very likable contestants & villains you love to hate, and an all time great/very likable top 4. I was rooting for Aubrey & Cydney. The only downside to me at the time was that I felt hugely disappointed when Aubrey didn't win, but it's easy to see with hindsight why she didn't, & Michele is a great social player & winner.
My top 16 ranking prediction (not my rankings, just my prediction for these rankings): 16. SJDS 15. Panama 14. Philippines 13. BvW 12. Tocantins 11. Millennials vs Gen X 10. Cambodia 9. Borneo 8. China 7. Amazon 6. Pearl Islands 5. DvG 4. Micronesia 3. WaW 2. Cagayan 1. HvV
Eh, I didn’t care much for Kaoh Rong. Too many evacuations, Scot and his toady’s awful behavior, etc. Cidney, Aubrey, and Michele were great players though!
Getting med-evaced with an idol is just like getting voted out with an idol. You don't get to give it to someone after you're out. I highly doubt the producers would've let Neal give his idol to Aubry even if he wanted to.
Colton said in post-game press that he was given the option to give his idol to somebody in the game. He wanted to give it to Jay, but he was on the other tribe and the idols that season were specific to tribes, so he couldn’t give it to Jay. Aubry had a confessional where she was mad that that Neal didn’t give her the idol. I feel like they wouldn’t include that and get her perspective on it if he wasn’t allowed to in the first place
If Cydney is at the end instead of Michele I think Tai might win cause the Brawn duo and Julia were very bitter towards her and Aubry and I believe Scot said in that scenario he would vote for Tai and Aubry and Cydney would be splitting votes between each other which could result in Tai winning in a plurality vote similarly to China or HHH.
I had this season ranked #30. I'm not exactly a fan of this season just because I really don't like the cast of this season probably outside of a few people. I thought was pre-merge was ok, I thought the early boots were somewhat predictable, but Aubry switching her vote to Peter was quite interesting. But watching Scot and Jason just completely be rude to Alicia was pathetic. Caleb's medevac was definitely somewhat insane watch, but that ended up being the biggest point in the pre-merge for me. Then we get to the merge where Neal gets his medevac, and Aubry got really lucky here. In my opinion, although I loved Aubry, she was extremely lucky to get to the end. After that, Nick arrogantly got blindsided, and then Debbie basically followed in his footsteps. That seemed to be a reoccurring theme especially when Scot got blindsided. Then the Julia and Jason boots are quite predictable. Then the Joe boot was a complete slog of an episode, and then that led to the finale. The finale I was not a fan of mainly because of the fact that you only had the one tribal where Cidney was booted. I honestly didn't like the vote off a juror twist because it basically takes out someone who could've provided a solid jury speech. I would've rather it been a final two then a final three with a jury member not there. I didn't have much of a problem with Michelle winning, but it felt like the edit was favoring Aubry so much late in the game and I didn't like it. Plus, I also am not a fan of Tai just because of how wishy-washy he was this season. First off, he had all those advantages and didn't use them or use them well. Plus, I felt like he should've gotten rid of Aubry and he had multiple chances to do so and didn't, which is good gameplay from Aubry but also terrible from Tai. Not to mention, the whole boys vs. girls thing was so petty early on in the merge that it just infuriated me to watch everything. I also liked the super idol twist with how it was played, but I personally would've rather Tai used it with Scot and Jason to get control, because he could've then blindsided them later. Overall, I thought this season could've been really good, but this cast is just so unlikable for me other than Michelle, Aubry, Julia, and Cidney. Also, there were moments that people say are iconic, but they could've been even better, and it just disappointed. Plus, we had two full episodes get ended by a medevac, and that just sucked all the momentum out of the season for me. I know it was a brutal season, but man like there was so much more that could've made this season even better that just let me down, and it makes me not really like this season as much.
This season has one of the best all time final fours in survivor history. Each of them played games worthy of a win.
Agreed I feel that in most cases Cydney gets slept on ... she deserves alot more credit 🔥
@@kngjustn2212 I personally rooted for Cydney and I wanted to see her pull it off so badly
Best final four for a non-all star season of the top of my head except for Panama.
It’s still so low on this list for me.. every episode was an adventure! Love this season.
I still can’t believe Cydney wasn’t on Game Changers when she made decisions that literally changed the trajectory of the game this season 😤
