A packet of red split pea lentils is R25 (you could probably find it cheaper at the non-chain supermarkets) and gives you about 23 grams of protein per 100grams. I understand money is tight for students (I was a student up until last year, and NSFAS never pays food allowances on time), but I'd recommend looking for similarly priced alternatives to just 2min noodles such as a meal of lentils and bread. If you buy the loaves of bread that bakeries bake themselves, they usually only cost about R10 a loaf. Throw in one onion and one tomato to cook with the lentils, and it'll come up to R35-40. But you'll get 4 nutritious meals from the loaf of bread and lentil soup. Slightly more expensive per day than 2min noodles, but a more nutritious alternative.

In some ways it's kind of wonderful that you can go anywhere in the world and enjoy food that you're familiar with, but on the other hand having traveled extensively in my 20s I would advise anybody that's doing traveling to go to local places and eat local foods. Because just like Kurt demonstrates here and in a lot of his videos when you go to local places you meet local people and you just get to enjoy and experience the culture a lot more than you would buy going to the Burger King or the KFC.

Where I live in Indiana we have 5-6 different chicken restaurants. The 3 most well known are all on the same block (Chick-fil-A, KFC, and Joellas chicken). Chick-fil-A is always more packed than any other restaurant near the mall, KFC normally has 1 maybe 2 cars in the drive thru, and nobody know how joellas is even still open.

In Germany a normal bucket is around 20-25€, 22-28$, a hot wings bucket is around 34,99€ (around 38$) so it isn't much cheaper. But for Venezuelan Economy 40$ is definitely too much.
