Rubbish is just left for days before the dump trucks arrive. If anything is not in a garbage bag it is left on the street. The municipality had no idea of tourism and tourist requirements.
I used to go to the beaches in Durban...what a great places to swim, suntan....that was 1980's....nowadays you cannot swim there lol....sewage and crime makes it impossible...and people just come to LOOK at the beaches lol...thousands of people on the beaches....it's a MESS

I'm from Durban. If you travel half an hour either north or south you will find a picturesque beach with a fraction of crowds. These people are all from inland and don't give a shit about the beaches. I would avoid town beaches during holiday season like the plague.
