Great video! Shows that people can liberate themselves by removing the shackles from their imagination and seizing opportunities to become educated entrepreneurs. Much better than grabbing placards and pens to protest and hoping for things to change.
It was never called Black Wall Street until it was rebuilt. None of the Massacre survivors call it Black Wall Street in the videotaped interviews. I watched every one of them. Hannibal Johnson just nailed it in this video. It was more like a Black Business Street. The success came from people refusing to be held down. The Massacre was nothing to do with jealousy about Black people having successful businesses. . It was totally based on the testimony of the white elevator operator, Sarah.
Hmmm, nitpicking, but the narrator really means "turn of the 20th century". That is switching centuries from the 19th to 20th in the year 1900, or more correctly 1901.
It was a small business strip that got renamed black wall street pejoratively. Imagine calling a small business district the Asian wall street. They'd be insulted.
It can easily be recreated again. Everyone needs to get on their A game. We have it so much easier in this era.
