The value of hard work, honesty, thriving on learning about canning, cooking, pruning..etc Not playing video games, and being on the internet at the age of 5 or 11, learning about stuff not suitable for these ages. Your pantry tours are my very favorite! We’re a large homesteading family also so I can fully appreciate the blood, sweat, and exhaustion that went into filling those shelves. But it’s so worth it!☀️
one of the reasons it created happiness in me, was seeing parents including/involving their children in their lives, and empowering them through the skills they are being shown. i admire how capable, and loving you are as a family. kind regards.
The amount of work that goes into that is both crazy and amazing. That is really great that you do not have to buy any vegetables from the store at all :)
This takes me back to my grandparent's home. ^_^ Grandma had food like this, and I remember as a kid it was amazing whenever she asked us to go get her something from the pantry and we would stand looking at all the jars and bottles of grandma's heavenly preserves and jams.
What a beautiful pantry! There is so much hard work and love on those shelves. I’m looking forward to hearing how you are preparing for next year’s garden. It would also be great if you could share some favorite family recipes. ❤️
I loved going in my grandmas root cellar when I was a kid!!! I’d love to know how to do all the things you do. Physically not able to anymore but what a legacy you’re leaving your family!!

A raised bed at a height comfortable to you would be a good start! My friend in a wheel chair grows many things but is heading more towards raised beds now.
You need a proper summer kitchen which is a separate building with wash tubs and a gas stove for canning, a brick bread oven for drying food, making bread and pizza. Our cold cellar was underneath with it's entrance being a door in the summer kitchen floor (inside is better in winter and rain). My grandmother had quartz and marble slabs in her cold room/pantry that she would keep butter, cheese and eggs on. Lots of English and Europeans had summer kitchens - it would be a game changer for you. Put your squash in nets or slatted shelves so the air moves underneath. You are doing amazing. Thanks for the memories :)
I love how well organized and the abundance of food you have been able to keep in your pantry setup. So many great ideas for what to can and store thank you!
You guys did an AWESOME job!! Great example to the rest of us to follow church leaders and to be self-reliant. Keep those little kids helping in the kitchen.....that's how the tradition moves down from generations.
Thank you so much D Bird! In these crazy times, we take much comfort doing what we are doing. Hard work?...YES! Worth every penny?...most definitely :)
Exposing nuts and oily seed kernels (like pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, peanuts, almonds, etc.) to light by taking them out of their shells for storage, makes their beneficial fats break down very quickly and become useless in a matter of days. Always store nuts and seeds in the shell. They're super protected from light for a reason. Good luck xx

Hello! I love your pantry! I am also 60 and have been canning since I was 20. I can more now than I did then. Watching your video and others I have learned about canning a lot of other things, like the bone broth or broth. I know what you mean about canning. It is a lot of work, but the results are wonderful. My pantry is our basement and I love going and just looking at all the wonderful jars. It is that feeling of satisfaction that you made something that will last and that your family can use without having to depend on a store all the time. I love your enthusiasm for canning. I know just how you feel, it is hard to describe. Will be watching more of your videos!!
This is truly amazing!! Wow! The work involved from seed to pantry is enormous. I am inspired by your pantry and am going to look into canning beyond just tomatoes, pickles, beans and salsa. You are fabulous! Keep up the great work!
Amazing!!!! I just don’t have any more words😁 you all did a fantastic job this year and so encouraging! Congratulations! Sit back and enjoy your break now and all the good food!!!
Wow! It hardly seems necessary to add another comment, I'm sure whatever I have to say is already in the 1139 current comments, but... You guys are absolutely amazing. You're absolutely on the right track and, as far as I can tell, you're doing it all right. I like how you preempt the naysayers by just saying there are a lot of other ways to do things and you're just doing what works for you. I can only imagine how much work it's taken to go so far in such a short time on your new property; that is real dedication and you're all to be admired. One tip I'd like to offer, and it's probably been suggested a dozen times or you've probably already considered but I'll add it anyway, for potential future readers/viewers: I suggest using Tattler seals for your jars. Even if you prefer the steel ones, you might consider buying a bunch of Tattlers for when (not if) lids are not available. Use steel for as long as you can if you prefer but use a few dozen Tattlers each year just to keep up the practice/skill. Did I say you guys are amazing? I am so impressed. I'm looking forward to watching all of your videos.
I've been waiting for this!! All your hard work, sore muscles and complete exhaustion has paid off with abundance! Great job. Blessings for the whole family and have an amazing Thanksgiving because look at all the food you have to be thankful for!
Beautiful! At 79 years old I am in only my second year of canning from the 'estate' Pineapple salsa with papaya is one of my successes. Hope to learn more this season. You are certainly an inspiration.
It feels like if God was preparing you guys for what was to come. Food prices are at an all time high but thank God you guys don’t have to worry about it at all, good job 👍
We feel very similar. For our family, this is what seems right. For others, their "preparation" may be different. We really enjoy what we do! Thank you for watching :)
Very beautiful homestead and such hard work. My garden is little for now, even though I build a new one in my video, but I hope that one day I would have all that courage to work hard to have almost all the food my family needs! Thank you for those beautiful images
I was always told never to store apples near onions because the onions will shorten the life of the apples. Not sure if you have ever heard that or if it is an old wise tale. Awesome cold room design too!
Congratulations on the new home. Beautiful yield and storage❤. Would love to see the root cellar journey when y'all get to that stage in the future. Thank you for sharing
Absolutely amazing, I love it and miss the days when i could help my mom with all the canning/preserving. you guys are an inspiration; keep up the awesome work.
Yes my aunt sybil was probably shaking her head from up there in heaven at me spending all day to make one can of pickles and ruin one can of pizza sauce lol. (It was good, but it had a mistake so had to be eaten soon.)
build a large hill then build your root cellar into that. or perhaps use earth bags to build one above ground. for example the Earthships built all over the place are build into large hills half underground so that the back side of the home gets that natural cooling in the summer.
@@TheSeasonalHomestead I found your website while searching for info on how many vegetables I need to grow to get me through a whole year. Your chart has been such a help (I saw that you updated it to reflect your 2021 learnings)! Didn't know you had a YT but I'll be watching now. Thanks for the insight & inspo!
Wonderful tour! I love canning my sweet potatoes with carrots and swedes in salted water. When it's dinner time. I drain into a pan, add heat up with butter and mash. Great quick side dish.
I absolutely love your channel and dream home!! Beautiful family as well. Sending you and your family love ❤️ and blessings, from Los Angeles california
I'm a licensed HVAC/R service contractor. That cold room you spoke of in this video is the first time I've seen that type of system installed as a residential application. It's common in commercial applications, specifically in market refrigeration and in restaurant refrigeration. In the HVAC/R skilled trade, we refer to those systems as "walk-in coolers" or "walk-in freezers", depending, of course, on the design operating temperature of the system. You and your husband have assembled an impressive, not to mention, comprehensive pantry full of glass-canned food. Good job on that and on the family farm!
I just stumbled upon your channel and I absolutely LOVE IT! I love how your whole family works together, you are teaching your children some excellent life skills. I'm looking to buy some land and start homesteading in the next few years (on a much smaller scale than yours) so I am really enjoying all your videos and learning a lot. Happy Holidays to your family 😊
love it I only have a small garden but I do preserved my produce. Tomatoes and berries. I wish I have that big garden like yours nor maybe a bit smaller. loving all the jars wow amazing.
I'm curious how you keep your pototoes, onions, and garlic from going bad within a month or so- when we get them from the store they would never last a year without shriveling or going bad? What an amazing process.
All those foods need the right temp and humidity to store longer. a 75 degree home is way too warm for potatoes and onions, etc. We keep ours in our cold room/root cellar at 49 degrees and they last a solid 9 months to 1 year.
Forgot to comment on the last video I saw 2 things: 1. Your pigs looked so happy and healthy. 2. Get SUPER THICK floor mats like at the supermarkets and restaurants where the workers stand on to work all day, I think that should help you tremendously on your tiredness and back after long days. Or when I have super super hard work days I use compression knee high socks and another thick bottom sock to cushion my feet, at end of day I'm not as tired. Also on heavy days I use hemp hearts bcz they help give energy and again not feel sooooo exhausted at end of day. Loved to see your pantry, impressive young mom homesteader.
Very nice pantry start. I love your organization. However, please look into storing your higher ethylene producing fruit and vegetables away from the more sensitive ones. You will find things will last much longer. Great job!
So, all those potatoes, onions, garlic, etc won't rot sitting in those wooden bins? I can't seem to keep a single bag of potatoes from turning to mush if I keep them in a dark cabinet.
Potatoes need to be kept in a dark and cool environment. Optimally around 55 degrees or cooler, so a normal room temperature home will not suffice. Onions are similar. The more you can mimic a root cellar environment the better(60 degrees or less, dark, little to no temperature swings, etc)
That is really inspiring, we live in the city so we don’t have the opportunity to grow a lot of vegetables, but I grow my own herbs ( most of them ) and I love preserving food for the whole year … it’s such a satisfying and empowering thing!
Wonderful start!! Herbs are some of the best things to grow yourself. Nothing can ever match the smells and tastes of fresh cilantro, basil, thyme, etc. Mmm! You seem to be on the right track 👍 Good for you :)
Wholly smolly that is so awesome ma’am that is really truly awesome. You guys have it going on. That is has to be a truly great feeling to have food security.
There are a fair amount of late nights and early mornings. lol! All part of the plan. We sort of knew what we were getting into, sort of not, haha! Thanks for watching!
Great Job yall! All I have to say is First in First out. Meaning rotate your stock. But yall know that. It is beautiful! Wow its amazing how you got kids to help. I will be swiping some ideas thank you!

Looks great! I'd love to see how you put the preserved foods together to create meals. A "What we eat in a week" style video would be so interesting!
We have plans for this. Not sure exactly how quick we will put that out there, but we plan to do one :)
Best petition ever!! I also wonder how she uses all those jars once it's all processed :/

0:06 HOLY FULL TIME JOB BATMAN!!!! That is so impressive! Unpaused to watch the rest!
Your pantry is incredible ! We grow a lot of our food, but we aren't self sufficient (and our pantry is tiny and not cold enough). I love yours and it gives me ideas. Thank's !
Love from France ❤️
Love this tour! Would love to know how you do some of these preservation techniques and also how you use the food in your cooking!
Love your potato creates!
Absolutely beautiful! Much love went into this pantry. I will start canning soon. Got my supplies and you are an inspiration. Hugs ❤️
Your positive vibe and hard work speaks for itself. This is a happy life. Keep up the life to hands to earth. Nothing better.
This is truly amazing!! Wow! The work involved from seed to pantry is enormous. I am inspired by your pantry and am going to look into canning beyond just tomatoes, pickles, beans and salsa. You are fabulous! Keep up the great work!
2 Kings 20. The hard work you did is commendable and well done. Your family is blessed. ❤
Amazing!!!!
I just don’t have any more words😁 you all did a fantastic job this year and so encouraging! Congratulations! Sit back and enjoy your break now and all the good food!!!
Thank you!!! Definitely nice to be able to slow down a bit. Still busy, but not near like what summer is on the farm!! Whew!
@@TheSeasonalHomestead agreed the work never stops but so grateful for it all! Blessed thanksgiving!!
Yes indeed!!! Thanksgiving takes a whole new meaning when most of the food came from the land we are on. A lot to be thankful for!!!
I’ve heard about that to but I’m not sure if it’s true or not.
I heard it was opposite apples ripening other things.
This pantry is absolute GOALS!!!
Congratulations on the new home. Beautiful yield and storage❤. Would love to see the root cellar journey when y'all get to that stage in the future. Thank you for sharing
watching, has brought happiness to my soul. thank you for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for your kind words!!
What an accomplishment! The sheer work: (planning and all) that went into this is AMAZING.
Yes, it's a lot of work, but well well worth it!
Thank you so much Ryan!! Glad you enjoy our videos!
You and your husband have assembled an impressive, not to mention, comprehensive pantry
full of glass-canned food.
Thank you so much! Great to hear this is inspiring you! We love this crazy lifestyle and hope you do too!! Good luck with your future homestead!
What a nice relationship they have
Just here to say Becky and Cam are relationship goals! It's clear how deeply you love and respect one another- such a great team!
Samantha, your comment wins the internet today!!! ...at least...our internet :) 💚💚
love it I only have a small garden but I do preserved my produce.
I cannot imagine all this work. Staggering!
Pretty cool, huh?
I really like this & want something like this one day!❤️ Oh, also, sweet potato leaves are edible & nutritious too. 😊
Forgot to comment on the last video I saw 2 things:
WOW! Have you thought about an "above ground" root cellar? As in a shipping container on the ground but covered with fill dirt? (Beautiful house, btw)
A dream pantry. Your job is a great source of inspiration for many people in future. Keep sharing your valuable experiences.
Very nice pantry start. I love your organization. However, please look into storing your higher ethylene producing fruit and vegetables away from the more sensitive ones. You will find things will last much longer. Great job!
Wow!!! It looks great! What a great organization! I wish I could be like you .. Wishing you and your beautiful family all the best. God bless you all
So, all those potatoes, onions, garlic, etc won't rot sitting in those wooden bins? I can't seem to keep a single bag of potatoes from turning to mush if I keep them in a dark cabinet.
Same and I keep a cool house!!!!
Potatoes need to be kept in a dark and cool environment. Optimally around 55 degrees or cooler, so a normal room temperature home will not suffice. Onions are similar. The more you can mimic a root cellar environment the better(60 degrees or less, dark, little to no temperature swings, etc)
WOW you got a lot done despite everything else, the Lord bless all of you.
Loved seeing the pantry tour.
Have you tried drying garlic scapes and grinding to a powder? It’s lovely green garlicky goodness.
That's a great idea. I usually make pesto with mine and freeze it.
Talking about sweet potatoes: don't forget that their greens/leaves are edible and great in a stir fry :)
We ate them all last summer they are amazing.
I was told if we eat the leaves the tubers won't form very well....anybody care to clarify for me please???
Wow! What a beautiful array of the colors of your accomplishments!Great example to other families 👏🏼❤️😄
Wholly smolly that is so awesome ma’am that is really truly awesome. You guys have it going on. That is has to be a truly great feeling to have food security.
Yes, a super rewarding feeling for our family.
Sweet potato leaves are edible and so healthy!!! Breaks my heart when u got rid of them because those are my favorite…
I was canning myself a lot so I know how much work is envolwed. Wow you must can around the clock👍☺. Greetings from Luxembourg
There are a fair amount of late nights and early mornings. lol! All part of the plan. We sort of knew what we were getting into, sort of not, haha! Thanks for watching!
Wow. That's a lot of hard work and money saved. Plus it means that you control very well what kind of food your family eats. Good job!👍
I actually prefer your 'root cellar'! Seems cleaner and no critters. What a fantastic job.
I am amazed by the sheer variety of everything in that larder. Great job!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great Job yall! All I have to say is First in First out. Meaning rotate your stock. But yall know that. It is beautiful! Wow its amazing how you got kids to help. I will be swiping some ideas thank you!
So impressive you guys! We only have 1000 sq ft of garden and some chickens. God bless the two of you and your family.
It reminds me at my grandma's pantry! Good times....
Wow, so much work, and what a reward. I hope y'all have a restful winter after a big year. 💛
