I get the concept, dive in and devastate an enemy mech before bugging out, but the end result is an odd set of compromises. I can't imagine a long life expectancy. If I found myself driving a 3F, I'd beg/borrow/steal a Gauss rifle to swap in for that UAC. With 2 tons of ammo, I've got enough free tonnage to bump up the armor 8.5 tons too.
@Helcarexe26 oh for sure but same mission profile: run in fast, punch something really hard in the back (something bigger than you in the case of the Blitz and something small and fast in the case of the Hussar since lol canister shot), and try not to die _too_ quickly.
Blitzrieg or Blitz. I played with it several times in the Civil War Era. Back in the Civil War era I never used smoke for higher speed mechs and never understood the Hussar. Ya, found the combo of this mech with running LB and UAC Saladin’s and Blitz. Or the Demolisher II and Blitz with a platoon of Fenrir (SRM). The better ones are to add Savanna Masters and Blitz. Well Steiner has a noted preference to mechanized jump infantry units and do have many Hover IVF’s like the Maxim and Winter Hawk. As the Blitz walking speed is 7 when having to make turns it is near the Fenrirs movement speed of 4mp. The speed of 7/11 looks good and is when focusing on the walking speed. But every time I played with the Blitz the mech had to run to get into position for the UAC-20. The concept of the Blitz comes from, “Big guns never tire.” When designed into a hunter killer philosophy of a single big gun. The mech ends up with the requirements for high gunnery skills. The best pilot was a 2/4 with the BV cost of the mech to 2680. The first time taking this mech was with a skill 4 gunner and the first shot missed and the second shot jammed. Never fire the UAC at double rate until the clip is nearly empty. The mass of ammo may have you want to fire double rate. But the mechs armor and XL engine would never let the mech survive that long. I regretfully have a poor performance opinion of the UAC Blitz. The Hollander is a better design from my perspective, but house Steiner has few speedy mechs. The Stiletto, Scarabus and Talon are the fastest they may find. I never knew about the Heavy PPC variant. This one has a high BV price tag. But I would not have to take two Blitz’s with the UAC. I would only need one HPPC Blitz.
@Magermh The HPPC version seem to be the best way to go with this mech due to better range. But I rather take a few of the vehicles instead of the Blitzkrieg due to having the option of an high BV mech
I have a custom design using the "Panther" chassis that has the same movement, decent armor and an AC/20 w/one ton of ammo. It's a killer on 'Solaris,' and can be a nasty l'il surprise, that's why I called it the, 'Pandora.'
It's a very bold design for crowd diving/head hunting pilots. Also, could be worse, you could be piloting a Hussar... though MAYBE there's enough clan tech out there to make that work. But if it's at the cost of arms, never mind. Having arms and a sniper turret at that speed is the point of why you use the Hussar over other mechs.
Its a mech I hate, but have to respect due to a friend doing a kamikaze dive on me and blowing the head off my Berserker once. Its like the hunchback IIC you point it at what you want to destroy and well try to make it happen it ether dies or what its pointed at dies. One trick pony with one hell of a trick.
@@Helcarexe26 It is what it is, but I probably will never own one due to thinking its ugly and if its trick doesn't work out its points that could have been invested in other places. At least with its Davion cousin the legionnaire it works better as part of a team and you can jump on something blast them with the AC and deliver a pair of punches. Playing with quirks no arms really really hurts this thing.
I'm surprised there's only 1 official variant so far. Just by swapping in a clan UAC20, options open up. Or you could punch down the engine to do something stupid like a trio of CERLL in the mount to evoke an old battleship turret and MAYBE enough heatsinks to chainfire.
I hate this Mech especially the 3F. Any Mech designer who creates a Medium Mech with only one gun is incompetent, or trying to sabotage the design IMO. Making that gun ammo dependent is even more idiotic. And the name makes no sense. An all energy weapon design thus minimizing the dependance on supply lines fits the blitzkrieg concept much more iMO. The only nice thing I can say about it is I don't hate it as much as I despise the Legionnaire-2D. The 4F is better but not good
@@Helcarexe26 Like Ii said I don't like one gun Mechs in general. Even my favorite Lights have at least two weapons. But if I have to take a one weapon Mech its going to be a weapon I don't have to be concerned about jamming or running out of ammo.

@@matthewmarek1467 You're right swapping out the UAC20 for a Gauss Rifle. It would make a better version of the Hollander mech
As it is in it's stock loadout it's basically a Clan Buster Hussar but bigger.
@@heirofaniu Packing a larger punch than the Hussar

the Mech equivalent of the Saladin
it's like the Hollander except it wants to be in kicking range
@imadethistopostponi I rather have a lance of Saladin vehicles for quick flank attacks.
