It may be on the slower end of the scale, but such concerns rarely surface when the opposition is reduced to various smoldering, melting, bubbling smoking fucking craters. - sun tzu
Back in my old table top days it was my command mech, unfortunately our merc unit was knocked down to a company from a regiment and a half after the clan invasion. Had to move to a wolverine for a while
God, what a heat hog. Whether I'm playing vanilla BT or Rogue tech, the first thing I do is completely re-do the weapons load out, and turn it into a heavy fire support mech. The amount of LRM's, or MRM's, or Arrows you can throw on this thing is awesome. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the missile spam show!
My relationship with the Stalker can be best described as: Forget the Stalker exists; fights against Stalker and thinks, "Why don't I use this more often?"; plans to take Stalker for next game; forget the Stalker exists; repeat.
Ahh! My favorite Assault Mech. The commander of my mech battalion (my character's boss) had a Stalker with battle fists so he could punch, too (and let his heat cool down). It was the only mech I ever had luck with LRMs. Sure I could get an LRM volley to hit, but I always rolled low so that few of the missiles actually hit. But when I got to use the Stalker (a rare thing), the LRMs always did their job. In the original Battletech, LRMs sucked. Once Mechwarrior came out and you could get a character with LRM skillz, it really upped the effectiveness of the things.
I love the Stalker as well. It's design and everything. My most recent Stalker Video is a killer build. Although it was months ago. Worth a watch. And I am also doing real life Battletech Mechwarrior Series. 3 Episodes in and some Awesome trailers. I just started working with green screen and design. So I design Alot of cockpits for whatever I'm doing in tbe episode. I put myself costume and everything inside these cockpits. Edit them heavily and wallah. You have something very cool.
I really really wish the mech had actual ARMS. It's such a great design, why not have actual arms with fists??? It has the slots, it's not a measurable increase in cost!
@@randomnetsurfer Given the mech's design, with that huge nose, arms are actually really awkward. The arms we kit-bashed onto our stalker couldn't reach the nose, so you had to turn sideways to punch with them. And there was no real way for the arms to reach the ground to pick anything up. They are slightly more useful than T-rex arms, but not much.
I have always loved the Stalker, one of my absolute fave inner sphere mechs. Double heat sinks are definitely a necessity though. Even if you restrict yourself to long-range OR short-range fire, you're going to have trouble otherwise. But with DHS, you can blitz enemies at mid-range with only a small downtime. :)
I don't know why, but I absolutely love these things. In a Mechwarrior RPG I led our Command Lance in one. In the various computer games, I always looked for them. In Mechwarrior Online I have every variant and many of them are tricked out to the max. Maybe it's the idea of driving a Zepplin with legs. Or moving a giant torpedo on land. Maybe it's the fact that it carried every kind of weapon but ballistics (which doesn't bother me at all). It's a face only a mother could love...and I do love them.
I have two Stalkers in my Wolf's Dragoons Zeta Battalion company, one is Captain Tara Lucas' 'mech. I have a Stalker 2 in my Wolf's Dragoons Gamma Regiment force designed for "Dark Age Era" play.
Like the looks of this old classic. Only used in tabletop games a couple of times.Never lasted as long as others like the Zeus or Atlas, still, glad I have one. Thanks for this video!
I thought this thing was a bootleg catapult with less missles when i first saw it then realized its a catapult on steroids and can hold even more more LRMs lol. Its pretty great as a fire support mech imo, better than as front line mech compared to other assaults.
The only serious flaw I ever felt this design had was the lack of any sort of arms. Get knocked over and it's a duce to get back on it's feet, unaided.
Stalker II. Or possibly the Steiner variant that mounts an HGR. The Davion ppc variant and targeting computer is also pretty spiffy. Used all three in combat...but the standard is still one of the best. Potato Patrol ftw!
imo, it looses too much speed to only carry a little more firepower than the agile Catapult. It is too slow and lightly armed for an assault to fight at med range. If i needed a dedicated support mech in an assault lance, i would rather bring a Longbow assuming we dont have clan tech.
Another great video the stalker is a good fire support mech just watch the heat build up when fighting against one the best wat is to head shot as soon as possible
I hate that if it gets knocked over for any reason it has no means of getting back up. Other than that it's a decent mech for urban combat. I wouldn't trust it in rough terrain though because once on its side it's a helpless target.
In the Solaris table top game the stalker 2 is the top gladiator :-) 100 ton version of stalker and just as awesome...Nice weapons and great stand off command mech :-)
Omg. The Stalker. Not many Pilots like the Stalkers design. I have heard many Pilots say they don't even like how it runs. (MWO Pilots) But I have always loved and admires The Stalkers design. It's. Not a blimp. And I made a special variant that is insanely deadly and easy to use for any pilot. If you want to check it out. Just go to my channel and search Stalker. The most recent stalker upload is the one. Anyways. Great Channel I'm glad to have found it. Original content and love the Lore. Grim, If you ever want to do something together check out my Channel. Stalker is the best escort for an Atlas with AMS against clans. The Atlas enters the struggle, Stalker trying to get there. When at medium range, Stalker unleashes hell upon those who attacked Atlas. Stalker is better at escoring Atlas than even another Atlas.

I used this mech to salvage a lot of Clan Mechs back in Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries.
*laughs in LRM 100 Stalker*
maximum LRM
I built an 80-LRM version in HBS Battletech but it ended up being inferior to a 4-GR++ Annihilator.... #SteinerScoutLance
Certainly don't want to be outside the Stalker when she pukes hells flames

Makes sense as it does seem more like a support than a frontline mech.

You must break the cycle!
Glad I got one in the HBS Game. :P
@@dubuyajay9964 heat exchangers are REALLY good on the stalker by my experience
Played a game with my dad's friends in one of these when I was ten. Got KO'd by a pair of Warhammers, but I really liked the mech.
Hotbox of s Mech. What ever you do to upgrade one of these double heatsinks and case are a must. The Stalker does have a weapon for every occasion.
And that's why it's one of my favorite mechs

Looks like an upgraded version of the Catapult.
Its sort of like a cousin instead of a brother. Adds a lot but takes a couple of things the catapult might do better.

It has the upside of being able to shoot some of it weapons behind it though.
I still find myself watching these battle tech videos even though I'm only here for warhammer. Keep it up GrimDark. 👍😸

My favorite angry walking bullet!
You dont need to worry about your arms getting structure damage if you dont have any arms.
That's a novel approach :)
Except the "arms" are still on the damage chart?

Gotta agree. Can't see myself spending money on that when I can just Orkify a catapult or a MADCAT.
The Longbow is a glass cannon. The Archer can take a better punch than it.
I really like your book narrations.
Thank you.
Good stand off assault mech .
The Stalker is basically a GIGANTIC RAVEN.

In MWO the stalker is a hill peeking monster with lasers. It can also be a freaky MRM spammrr.
Beware the Stalker😎
Do the Stalker's knees bend in both directions?
I'd think probably not.
