As always, great video Joe! So you've done this AMG GLC 43 and the Audi SQ5. I think you should do the BMW X3 M40i soon as a comparison to these 2 SUVs.
Excellent review as always. Nice vehicle. $70k is a bit more than I want to spend on a mid size SUV especially one without ventilated seats. Tom did his usual spot on work with the camera. My hats 🎩 off to you once again young man. 👍
I just started watching his videos recently. I used to watch a lot of redline reviews, but sofyan is such a snob and always judges cars by how loud their doors close.
Yes ! Option it with the NO running boards and Night Package. Tune it 460/528. The exhaust on the 2020 is kinda muted compared to the more raw-natured blower on ME 2017-2019. That body-roll you speak of is manged with a $500 lowering module. People fail to realize the chassis on the GLC is very much car oriented. Larger vehicles, the GLE for example, I believe are separate SUV based chassis. This is a fun car . Go Drive it.
I just got a GLE 450 a few weeks ago. And the sound is really nice when you step on the gas. Why are you covering the speedometer when you hit it? We won’t tell on your!! We got your back, Joe.
T.O OR You can buy online. There are both GLE 350s and 450s in stock. But, I custom ordered in December. And literally a few days before Mercedes closed the Tuscaloosa factory, they made my car. I really lucked out. But then I had to wait several weeks for it to be shipped to NY. But like I said, even without custom ordering, you can still buy.

Great video Rati, thank you! It's a cute little Mercedes Benz, but I'm not a huge fan of the mismatching trim pieces. Like the wood trim just on the center counsel and than metal trim everywhere else?!?! Kind of strange!!

@13m05s: Any mention of the M-word ("...Mercedes...") results in the voice system going [BEEP-BOP] and requires a dismissal. Supposed to be 'Hey Mercedes', but the programmers forgot the Hey.
Another great review! I currently have a 2020 X3 M40i and 2022 GLC43. Both of the best in this class in my opinion(I've also had a 2017 Macan S, great but cramped). Between the SQ5 and GLC43, the GLC43 wins. More power, faster, sounds better, interior is nicer and just overall more exciting. In fact, We traded in a brand new 2021 SQ5 to special order a 2022 GLC43 just after 3 months. The only thing nice about the SQ5 were the seats, the gear shifter and that it had the biggest panoramic roof. The interior was bland and cheap. Big plastic outline around the digital dash, used soft rubber for the dash and door sills while the M40i and GLC43 were faux-leather wrapped. Zero storage space, no round cutouts in the doors for water bottles, no center stack space for your keys or wallet and cup holders/arm rest storage that was unusable if you were using one or the other because the sliding wireless charger tray would block one or the other at any given time. It didn't sound good and always wanted to shift early even in dynamic mode, despite having the same ZF8 in the M40i. Underwhelming to say the least.
@@hugolafhugolaf Performance wise, I think the X3 M40i wins. The BMW is more "driver-focused" which shows as the center stack and screens are slightly tilted towards the driver(as it's always been in BMW's). The GLC43 has a more luxurious interior though but the BMW uses a lot of the same types of materials. The little details matter, like faux leather on the door sills and dash which both the X3 and GLC have(the rubber stuff in the Audi makes it feel cheap). The Main difference would be interior space. The BMW FEELS like a SUV inside. It's roomier, it's wider, has a taller roof and all of those add to visibility and bigger windows. The GLC feels more like a "lifted wagon". You have more visibility due to height but the roof is lower like a sedan and that means smaller windows. If this is your first MB than it takes some getting used to the controls. For example, gear selector is on a stock on the steering wheel instead of down on the center stack. So that means windshield wipers are moved to a stock on the left-hand side vs on the right-hand side on most cars. Both are great cars either way. Back to the video, the SQ5 is also a good car that most people would be happy to have. But after owning the Macan S, GLC43 and X3 M40i the SQ5 is definitely wayyy down on the list. It doesn't really deserve that "S".
@@anw9485 Thanks for the detailed reply. Well, I do have a GLK250 now (had it for 7 years), so I got used to the controls a long time ago. Hopping into a GLC would not be a big change, although I'd want a 2020 + model with MBUX, as COMAND was already dated in 2014, so I don't want 8 more years of that (I keep my cars 8 years, normally). Having had BMWs in the past (E36 M3 and Z3), I'm not too fond of their newer interiors, but I have read that they do feel roomier than the competition. In fact, my GLK is downright small. Heck, we rented a 2009 Rav4 on vacation recently and that thing was HUGE inside. I know that the GLC is bigger, but still. I'm just not sure of BMW's reliability as of late. My GLK has been an absolute beast in that regard. If money was no object, I'd go GLC 63s, but maintenance, insurance, mpg, all that adds up. I guess a lightly tuned 43 would cut it! Decisions, decisions...
@@hugolafhugolaf This my 3rd BMW and the M40i has been solid. The Macan S suffered a flooded cylinder but luckily was fixed under warranty. I'd also like to add that the GLC interiors build quality doesn't seem as good as the BMW. I've had my 2020 M40i since new and I drive crappy LA roads daily and to today, barely any rattles inside. The GLC43 is a 2022, ordered it and took delivery after 8 months. Brand new, the door sills squeak if you press down on them, center stack feels hollow if you tap on it with your finger nail. Nothing like that in the BMW.
In my opinion no. The SQ5 almost "squats" into a turn, while the GLC 43 seems top heavy and "body rolls" into a turn. Both engines are top notch, and deliver power immediately. I haven't seen the official stats, but I'd be willing to bet the SQ5 has a higher lateral G force score.

Hey Joe. As always, very nice test. Unfortunately, the car in Germany is hardly manageable due to the high petrol costs. If a Glc, then as a Diesel in Germany. Greetings Tom
Great review but Mercedes have yet to resolve the tyre crabbing issue. My vehicle is just 3 years old has done 21,000km/13050 miles and I'm onto my 3rd set of tyres. The crabbing issue is well known to Mercedes and yet they refuse to do anything to compensate for 3 sets of tyres - the last set lasted only 6000km. We've tried all avenues with Mercedes to no avail. The only option left us is going to court. I decided the better option was to sell the vehicle and get a new Audi SQ5.
In my opinion, "No!" The SQ5 almost "squats" into a turn, while the GLC 43 seems top heavy and "body rolls" into a turn. Both engines are top notch, and deliver power immediately, so maybe a push there (twin turbo 31+ hp vs supercharged.) I haven't seen the official stats, but I'd be willing to bet the SQ5 has a higher lateral G-Force score.
@@RaitisRides My pleasure. Since you asked the question, I would've liked to have heard about the 2020 SQ5's door handle, trim and "belt lines" too. That way my analysis wouldn't have come down to the boring (but predictable) power and handling. Great video on the one side though.

Raiti's Rides the GLC43 is faster. I have it and beat a sq5 from a stop light and highway. According to car and driver the GLC is faster to 60mph and quarter mile. Mine hit 60mph in 4.2 seconds! 2017 model.
I tried to order one of these, and you can't actually get one with a heated steering wheel, despite what the website says. Such a basic feature on a $70k vehicle. In 2020. Unbelievable. Between this and the 5-month-late CLA 45, I get the impression that Mercedes just doesn't care about the US market.
Just bought a GLC last week! I'm super happy with it.
Congrats Danny! It is a great SUV!
How much did you buy it for?
Have you tuned it yet? Looks like eurocharge has a tune that gives you and extra 100 horsepower, and about 200 torque
Those dimples on the front section that you don’t like are a functional aerodynamic feature. It’s a fact that they diffuse and reduce wind resistance.

It's difficult to me to change my SQ5 2021 ( replace the rear headlights for previous generation the B9 ) ( all filters changed to K&N Filters + stage 1) for this little Glc which looks like a Tiguan, Coupé version is Better in my opinion..,
Whats the Doug score ?
Which one is faster 🤔
Hmmmmm
Raiti's Rides the GLC43 is faster. I have it and beat a sq5 from a stop light and highway. According to car and driver the GLC is faster to 60mph and quarter mile. Mine hit 60mph in 4.2 seconds! 2017 model.
Can you do a video on the Mercedes-Benz GLA
2020 also
I tried to order one of these, and you can't actually get one with a heated steering wheel, despite what the website says. Such a basic feature on a $70k vehicle. In 2020. Unbelievable. Between this and the 5-month-late CLA 45, I get the impression that Mercedes just doesn't care about the US market.
Who prefer quattro from SQ5 or 4matic from GLC 43 amg?
Happy Mothers Day Joe
Thanks Bryan! Same to you!
