    Wow that's a neat addition to that CNC. Thanks for showing it. If I didn't have the Gatton I would buy this rig because it is perfect for the things I make.

    Looks well made. To make the video better I would suggest adding Jack. Jack is a good boy.

    Hi! Do you think it is possible to make a chess knight with more small details? What about the surface? Is it smooth? thanks!

    Could you do a video of creating the tool paths in VCarve, exporting the Gcode, and using the controller?
    I’m confused on what post processor to select when saving the g-code in VCarve.

      UPDATE: There is a post processor on the SainSmart 4th axis resource page linked led in one of the guides. I found that I needed to edit the line wrapping y to “ A” to “-A” to correct a mirroring issue.

      @@reblackwell2 changing the $3= parameter from the original setting of $3=4 to $3=12 using candle or UGS also solves the issue, i think the remote needs to be plugged in and set to 4 axis mode before changing $3=. to list all the $= parameters sent $$. $= settings are basic system setup parameters you set and they retain the setting unless you change them

    According to the Genmitsu website it can take up to an 80mm diameter not a 22mm diameter.
    80mm would be too large in my opinion as the "swing" is 40mm

    Well done. How does the off line controller work?

    • @DaveGatton
      @DaveGatton  ปีที่แล้ว

      It works much like a 3D printer. One button that also turns like a wheel. You press the button to select and turn the button to move between selections.

      with the offline controller you can run a program without a PC, you load it from a micro SD card. it also has a jog, home routine and probe routine for setting Z0

    Can the 4040 system be raised to use bigger wood pieces?

      They sell extension kits for some of the machines, can't say off the top of my hat if they have it for the 4040, but just check their website

    How does one set this up when they are not using those cheesy mdf boards that it came with?

    • @DaveGatton
      @DaveGatton  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well first off, there's nothing "cheesy" about the mdf material that is used for a spoi lboard. MDF is probably the most used material for spoil boards among both hobbyist and professionals. As far as setting up the rotary axis, you just have to make sure that is parallel to the X axis and have the centerline of the bit directly in line with the centerline of the rotary. Easy peasy.

      @@DaveGatton I am used to using full-size machines with multiple 3/4" mdf layers using vacuum plenums. A 1/2" bendy piece of mdf suspended off the table in mid air in its center is unacceptable to me. That was the first thing I got rid of when setting mine up. They could have at the very least sent us a single piece not a split base setup.

    SOOOO tiny, only pens and chess pieces can be made!

      Exactly my thought. Would be interested if it could handle much longer material
