Hey Tony, it looks like you have it sorted out. From my days in high school, metal shop using a lathe, the chuck was on the left. I am curious why you would work with it on the right.
It really looks like a great CNC for small projects. Will you be showing us a finished project? Greg

Hi Greg thanks for your comments I always set my start point at the tailstock and when it is on the right I have to work to the chuck on the left when its on the right I just move to the end at the tailstock zero all and on with the program . Its just my preference I like the chuck out of the way on my cnc and my lasers have the chuck on the right . I will be showing a finished project in the near future.

howdy Anthony, I did some research and the rotation using the original wiring does match G code commands. facing the chuck, a positive G code turns the chuck clockwise and negative command turns it anti-clockwise which is correct. I need to try lettering on mine and see if i get the same results. I am using Carveco and it may act differently

Hi let me know how you get on as I use my laser engravers with the chuck on my right it works better for me

@@Tonys.Top.Tips.Workshopwell for now reversing the motor wiring is one solution but not the best. I am beginning to think it can be fixed within the axis set up parameters in Aspire because I have seen inverting an axis discussed. I was going to buy a copy of Aspire and try and work on it UNTIL I saw the $PRICE$. A bit too much for my budget. I am using Carveco and am going to be buying DeskProto because it has been tested on this 4th axis, it cost about $300 and it supports true, full 4th axis milling. cheers

Howdy Anthony, I have been studying DeskProto CAM program because it has a driver approved by Genmitsu for the 4040 pro and 4th axis - they do reverse the A axis to correct this issue. they say that, using the 4040 pro driver, looking at the chuck from the tailstock, a positive (A+) move turns the chuck anti-clockwise which is what we want.
quoting DeskProto, " NOTE: For A axis rotation DeskProto follows a standard "Positive rotation is defined as a counterclockwise rotation looking from X positive towards X negative" (EIA Standard RS-274-D). When looking at the chuck jaws from the tailstock end G0 A90 should rotate the axis by 90° in a counterclockwise direction. The standard rotation of the SainSmart Rotary 4th axis is the opposite of this! The latest versions of the DeskProto SainSmart postprocessor files already have this change."

@@yorinov2001 Hi that's a great bit of in depth info thanks, Sainsmart did send me a fix and that was to add $3=12 to the g code in candle and that will change the direction.
I replied to them with that's no good for the offline controller. They agreed, I like the offline controller and that's what I use on my large cnc machine, I here lots of uses have problems with their laser and cnc machines when hooked up to a pc ie crashing and hanging I dont seem to get any of that when hooked up to the DSP or offline controller.

yes the $3= is used to reverse axis but I couldn't figure out what decimal needed to be sent. the decimal sets certain bits each effecting an axis. you can send this to the machine using candle or UGS BUT the remote has to be connected AND set to 4 axis mode to turn on the 4 axis commands on the main board. $3= is a system setting and once set should remain set unless changed. I will try it in a bit.
