I like to think that this song is about a holy paladin, sent on a holy crusade with other warriors of their order to combat a city infected with the resurrected dead, but after a crushing defeat, the paladin is left behind and infected with the necromantic disease, and the rest of the song slowly chornicles their descent into undeath and madness. This song makes me think of the novel: _The Coldest Girl in Coldtown_ ( 2013 young adult novel by Holly Black that follows Tana, a teenager who believes that she has been infected with vampirism when she wakes up after a night of partying surrounded by corpses. She knows she must go to where those who are infected have to go: Cities of quarantined monsters and humans who mingle in a mix of predator and prey. The only problem is, once you pass through Coldtown's gates, you can never leave, and you're considered dead to all you know and love).
it's from dies irae originally omg i'm getting deja vu from this other song that everyone said was made by mozart and then there were others arguing against that (like me) I FORGOT THE NAME OF THAT OTHER SONG DAMN IT.
It is almost creepy how this song fits to this chapter I am writing in my book. I just randomly stumbled upon it while writing. Beautiful song synced with a beautiful voice.
Albyno Panther That is so interesting and cool how this is a song that us writers just happened to stumble upon. My current book is a Fantasy novel too.
I love this because of the beautiful voice, the sober melody, the praise of the Creator, and the power of Latin shining through despite the English pronunciations.
BARBATUS 89 i could never get away with pronouncing latin like this in my latin course haha. He would make me write a page full of what i mispronounced
***** An example is the way they say GRATIS. It should sound as in Spanish at least, but they say it with a different A sound, and a different I sound, and a different T sound.
***** I sometimes struggle with rolling Rs when I speak my native Spanish fast, a language I had almost abandoned to English because I grew up in the US most of my life. I enjoy knowing that my native tongue is modern Latin.
grudgem4ster We DO know they didn't speak it with an English accent. Spanish pronunciation is of course closer to the original since Spanish is one of Latin's offshoots.
Rex tremendae majestatis Qui salvandos salvas gratis Salve me, fons pietatis *** King of tremendous majesty To save those who save freely Save me, source of "pity" ("mercy") ------------------------ Quantus tremor est futurus Quando Judex est venturus *** How a “tremor” is to be (“fright”/”terror”) When will the Judge come ------------------------ Damnata, invisus ubique Ab omnibus, ad infinitum *** Damned, not seen everywhere From all things to infinity
I’m quite confused because every comment with a translation says that “salve me” means save me. But isn’t salve a greeting? It’s been a few years since my Latin classes but to save is salvare, so save me would be “serva me” or am I wrong?
@@pia2654 The Latin word salve from which we derive our English word salvation, likewise has at its root the word health - so salvation is total health of body and soul.
Sublime vocals that soar heavenward. This is choral perfection with such great ambience. The Latin incantation is both beautiful and pitch perfect. Thank you for this!

This song started playing on pandora, and at the latin part, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. I've never added a song to my station so fast before XD
I stumbled on Carry Me, from Most Epic Music, and I just fell in love. I had to get the entire album. This song in particular had propelled me out of my writer's block and helped me envision the next parts of my book!
Wow! I came here to practise my Latin with music - and I found this! I was blown away. The song is so powerful. I had goosebumps during the chorus. I will be relistening to this! Thank you, Eurielle, for creating such a wonderful song.
The only reason that she isn't "famous" is because she isn't talking about ho*s and drugs. Its sickening that's what id have to show my kids if they asked what I listened to. I wish someday this genre will become more liked. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!
Grains Of Art i was trying to say she isn’t “mainstreamed”. Like on a popular radio station. At least not where I live. I listen to 90’S pop and rock but most of the music my generation (I’m 15) isn’t this genre.
For anyone wondering, I did some googling and found out, that the Latin passages are actually from Mozart's Requiem, of which there is a lot of translations already. Everyone can just google it and piece together the meaning from multiple different translations. And no, you can't just copy and paste the google translate result and pass it off as a good translation.
I keep seeing people commenting about how they listen to this beautiful song while writing. I thought I'd let it be known that I will be drawing to this ;P
@Thomas Durrant, Latin has been used and is used in a large part of Christianity, it is a language that has been and is very related to religion and has been used a lot to sing to God or refer to God, Jesus, heaven, angels, hell and demons, it was the language of thy time and that place, and yes, demons are related to it a lot, it is why we see them in movies, etc speaking a lot of latin, latin is like in part some of their language and the language of the divine, demons were once angels so..... yeah
I`m very impressed! I found your music by mistake, because I'm a big fan of epic music and fantastic soundtracks.Your voice is beautiful and this song is just great!Hope to hear a lot more songs from you in the coming years.Good luck to you
The Latin part is so enjoyable for me that I my heart beats faster at this and Im getting the chills. Its like a charm I dont even know how to describe the feeling.
For everyone who wants the English translation for the Latin parts I've read them online; [Rextremendae makestatis qui salevandos salevas gratis salva me, fons pietatis salva me, fons pietatis] King of tremendous majesty who freely saves save me, fount mercy save me, fount mercy. [Quantus tremor est futurus quando judex est venturus Quantus tremor est futurus quando judex est venturus] How a tremor is when the judge comes How a tremor is when the judge is coming [Damnata, invisus unique an omnibus, ad infinintum] Condemned, hated everywhere of all the infinite.
This reminds me of City of Bones. Its funny because the name is City of the Dead. The lyrics really match up with the story too. "I'm scared of what's inside my head." When Clary had her memories like blocked by Magnus. "The poison is killing me, taking over" When Clary fought the Ravener demon and got poisoned and fainted. "Is this the part where you start taking pieces of youe shirt off to bind my wounds?" City of the Dead is like the City of Bones (or is it the Silent City?) and the latin (i think it's latin) in this too because in the series they have alot of other languages including latin. Like, "Dura lex sed lex" "Ave atque vale" "Facilis descensus averno" "Flectere si nequeo superos acheronta movebo" This song really matches up with the Mortal Instruments series.
I love singing in Latin! Japanese, Latin, and Hebrew are some of my favorite languages to sing in. I've tried to sing in other languages too with various results, I suck at Chinese even though some of the songs are so beautiful (I'm looking at you WangXian), and Spanish is decent. Understanding them on the other hand is another thing entirely.

Chills. Chills everywhere. My ears have been blessed. Thank TH-cam and Thank the Lord. And Thank Eurielle.
I was not fully sold until the Latin started and then I became entranced.
exactly the same here
Has it been 7 years? This song is still so beautiful and powerful. An alltime favorite.
Oh, I love that book!! Holly Black is such a good writer.
Yooooooo that was a good damn book!! You right though
Holly Black is great, esp The Good Neighbors (movie when). One of the only authors I met in person and she was super nice and fun to talk to.
King of tremendous majesty, who freely saves those worthy ones, save me, source of mercy.
-Mozart's Requiem
Beautiful song, lousy theology.
it's from dies irae originally
omg i'm getting deja vu from this other song that everyone said was made by mozart and then there were others arguing against that (like me)
I FORGOT THE NAME OF THAT OTHER SONG DAMN IT.
it's from gregoriant chant's dies irae
It is almost creepy how this song fits to this chapter I am writing in my book. I just randomly stumbled upon it while writing. Beautiful song synced with a beautiful voice.
You write? I do to and I stumbled upon as my TH-cam was shuffling through music.
Iriaz Rodriguez It's kind of interesting how many other writers did the same thing, lol.
What genre do you write?
Jamie Gandy Me too. That's so cool and weird at the same time. I write Dark Fantasy
Albyno Panther That is so interesting and cool how this is a song that us writers just happened to stumble upon. My current book is a Fantasy novel too.
Scifi nerd here, this fits one of my stories perfectly.
I just realized that this song has a lot of inspiration on Mozart's Requiem. Well done Eurielle.
I wanna hear this for the first time again.
I think I'm gonna cry, the whole thing sounds like an old ancient chant, but by Enya. :O
It's way beyond goosebumps for me. This is beautiful.
Lord of the Rings all over again
Then that moment you remember your Latin class days and realize she's talking about the judgement XD
Onigiree it *is* an old ancient chant
Or like an Enya/ Amy Lee Hybrid
Am also crying UGH😢😢
I enjoy knowing that my native tongue is modern Latin.
no one alive today knows how to speak Latin I'm sorry it died years ago but we still have what they wrote as the Latin language
grudgem4ster We DO know they didn't speak it with an English accent. Spanish pronunciation is of course closer to the original since Spanish is one of Latin's offshoots.
Rex tremendae majestatis

I’m quite confused because every comment with a translation says that “salve me” means save me. But isn’t salve a greeting? It’s been a few years since my Latin classes but to save is salvare, so save me would be “serva me” or am I wrong?
@@pia2654 The Latin word salve from which we derive our English word salvation, likewise has at its root the word health - so salvation is total health of body and soul.

that Latin caught me off-guard
I love how Eurielle can be an angel, the glame of the forest and then a queen.
Sublime vocals that soar heavenward. This is choral perfection with such great ambience. The Latin incantation is both beautiful and pitch perfect. Thank you for this!
Your song has truly saved me. Im in high school so I have all that work on my shoulders but after listening to your music I realized that amount of work is nothing impossible. So thank u from the bottom of my heart!!!
I feel you. High school is huge sometimes. You got this! Loads of love! 😘❤
So young yet so lost we are not that different buddy(please don't feel offended is not what I mean while writing this). Glady that the song helped by the way
I love these songs and everyone else thinks I have horrible taste in music or I'm crazy....the truth is, they lack good taste in music and I'm simply into only the best of songs that are not appreciated enough!
This song has given me so much inspiration with writing my book. The scenes it inspired make it seem like this song was written just for them. Epic!
I love how the font is like City of Bones and the whole Mortal Instruments series
Holy shit I didn't even realize that
Ayana Monreal YES PLEASE
Ayana Monreal I also see small similarities in the face of the woman in the picture to the actor who portrays Clary Fray in Shadowhunters...? Is it just me ha ha.

I stumbled on Carry Me, from Most Epic Music, and I just fell in love. I had to get the entire album. This song in particular had propelled me out of my writer's block and helped me envision the next parts of my book!
Kristina Urbizo I'm slightly worried considering this song seems to talk about death, damnation, and God's mercy... I fear for your characters...
I'd read the heck out of that! ^_^ x'D
Wow, that's a serious compliment thank you! And thank you so much for supporting me :) Eurielle
Omg I thought I was the only one who felt like writing when listening to music like this. The one that made me get over my writers block was Carry Me.
The exact same series of events happened to me
I've truly fallen in love with this song. It gives me an intense, indescribable rush of emotion every time I listen to it.
i've tried to memorize the latin part for almost 3 n a half years.
It's now 2019
I know it by heart
I call that dedication
Wow.
Summoned anything yet? Lol
Kiah Lashae what? Why did it take you 3 and a half years to memorize that much?
It took me 10 min to learn it😂
Not being rude but your memory sucks. I memorised that quite quickly.
It literally took me less time to learn to read.

So haunting... So sad... So otherworldly, and yet so beautiful
Every time I listen to this song the Latin chant gives goosebumps
i really love mysterious songs
I finally have a favorite song.
Great comment!! So true!!
Wtf she is famous. You kids have bad taste and should have been exposed to good music. That is all your fault for not preventing that.
Grains Of Art i was trying to say she isn’t “mainstreamed”. Like on a popular radio station. At least not where I live. I listen to 90’S pop and rock but most of the music my generation (I’m 15) isn’t this genre.
@@jaydenbrown1313 I'm same gen I know this is popular just not with most teens/ kids.
Grains Of Art ok
For anyone wondering, I did some googling and found out, that the Latin passages are actually from Mozart's Requiem, of which there is a lot of translations already. Everyone can just google it and piece together the meaning from multiple different translations.
And no, you can't just copy and paste the google translate result and pass it off as a good translation.
I listened this song for days. It's so well done : composition is great, it fit perfectly with eurielle's clear voice.
I keep seeing people commenting about how they listen to this beautiful song while writing. I thought I'd let it be known that I will be drawing to this ;P

This song is another level. Pure greatness.
One of the Most beautiful Songs ever!!!!
It saddens me how many people think Latin automatically means evil. Beautiful song, though!
@Thomas Durrant, Latin has been used and is used in a large part of Christianity, it is a language that has been and is very related to religion and has been used a lot to sing to God or refer to God, Jesus, heaven, angels, hell and demons, it was the language of thy time and that place, and yes, demons are related to it a lot, it is why we see them in movies, etc speaking a lot of latin, latin is like in part some of their language and the language of the divine, demons were once angels so..... yeah
_omg you music is so freaking amazing please keep up the great work!_
First time hearing this song, so glad this was recommended!!

There's something about the Latin chanting that has this magnetic pull on me. It makes me want to listen to this song over and over again.
This feels to me like something from the Shadowhunters books universe, idk why
well the font is from the books haha and definetly city of bones vibes
The Latin probably contributes too haha
Precisely, I was thinking the Infernal Devices.
Never knew Latin was so oddly soothing.
So beautiful
This is one of the best songs I have ever heard.
For everyone who wants the English translation for the Latin parts I've read them online;
[Rextremendae makestatis qui salevandos salevas gratis salva me, fons pietatis salva me, fons pietatis]
King of tremendous majesty who freely saves save me, fount mercy save me, fount mercy.
[Quantus tremor est futurus quando judex est venturus Quantus tremor est futurus quando judex est venturus]
How a tremor is when the judge comes How a tremor is when the judge is coming
[Damnata, invisus unique an omnibus, ad infinintum]
Condemned, hated everywhere of all the infinite.
Somebody said this part referred to Judas, who sold out Jesus Christ prays to God before hanging himself.
Love this ladies voice. I can listen to her for hours !!!
Does anyone know of other songs that have a mix of English and Latin lyrics with a mysterious vibe?
Callie K Hymns?
nah sorry^^
I think Whisper and maybe a few other songs by Evanescence had some Latin lyrics in them
Listen to electric blue eyes from the cranberries
Callie K Lightning by Little Mix isn’t as mysterious but it does have a mix of Latin and English
The theme song when you enter the final exam
Love this comment!!!
This is the golden comment
This makes death an epic experience..... *I Like It*
XDDD
I have been looking for this song for weeks. I am so excited. I am so glad I found it.
This reminds me of City of Bones. Its funny because the name is City of the Dead. The lyrics really match up with the story too. "I'm scared of what's inside my head."
When Clary had her memories like blocked by Magnus.
"The poison is killing me, taking over"
When Clary fought the Ravener demon and got poisoned and fainted. "Is this the part where you start taking pieces of youe shirt off to bind my wounds?"
City of the Dead is like the City of Bones (or is it the Silent City?) and the latin (i think it's latin) in this too because in the series they have alot of other languages including latin. Like, "Dura lex sed lex" "Ave atque vale" "Facilis descensus averno" "Flectere si nequeo superos acheronta movebo"
This song really matches up with the Mortal Instruments series.
Same font too
The first part translates to: King of tremendous majesty, who freely, save fount rider fount.
The second part says: How great will it be when the judge arrives.
And the third part says: Condemned, however, that is not seen from everywhere, from all the infinite.
Sorry I messed up the last translation at the end of the third verse it's actually from the infinite from all.
I love singing in Latin! Japanese, Latin, and Hebrew are some of my favorite languages to sing in. I've tried to sing in other languages too with various results, I suck at Chinese even though some of the songs are so beautiful (I'm looking at you WangXian), and Spanish is decent. Understanding them on the other hand is another thing entirely.
hhh not me seeing ur WangXian comment- eyes were drawn straight to it )
This song takes me back to the dark ages and the lush green hills and mountains, men battling over lands.
The latin sounds so amazing
I tremor cause of how beautiful the song is

Eurielle you never fail to surprise me when I find your music. I have never been disappointed by this woman she's just fantastic.
The piano started and my brain immediately said "ooooh, pretty..."
English:
I'm scared of what is in my head
What's inside my soul
I feel like I'm running, but getting nowhere
Fear is suffocating me
I can't breath
I feel like I'm drowning, I'm sinking deeper
White light fades to red
As I enter the City of the Dead
King of tremendous majesty
Who freely saves
Save me, fount of mercy
Save me, fount of mercy
King of tremendous majesty
Who freely saves
Save me, fount of mercy
Save me, fount of mercy
I feel it burning through my veins
It's driving me insane
The fever is rising, I'm going under
Memories flash before my eyes
I'm losing time
The poison is killing me, taking over
White light fades to red
As I enter the City of the Dead
King of tremendous majesty
Who freely saves
Save me, fount of mercy
Save me, fount of mercy
King of tremendous majesty
Who freely saves
Save me, fount of mercy
Save me, fount of mercy
How a tremor is
When the judge comes
How a tremor is
When the judge is coming
Condemned, hated everywhere
Of all the infinite
King of tremendous majesty
Who freely saves
Save me, fount of mercy
Save me, fount of mercy
King of tremendous majesty
Who freely saves
Save me, fount of mercy
Save me, fount of mercy
