I was honored to participate in the first ever World Sport Climbing Championships many, many years ago. I’m the last generation to grow up aid climbing with hemp ropes and pitons and etriers then transition into competitive sport climbing. Truly? I was not sure about the explosion of climbing as a competitive event and global sport. Watching this series with Adams abrupt and disarming humility and fierce devotion has proved a soothing balm that my beloved sport of climbing is in caring young hands and empathic hearts. Head bowed from Colorado….

What do you mean not being the favourite?! You are such an amazing person, role model, and the most all around accomplished climber Adam and I'm sure you are and were the favourite for most outdoor climbers :)
Not sure if it says more about Adam or just about the sport of climbing that someone as accomplished as him still gets so hyped for a campus board workout.
I was thinking of making a practice climb wall in my basement. So, I was going to get those installable grips, but they are so expensive. I guess I will stick with the tops of the door frames.
The prestige of an Olympic medal would be nothing compared to all of the incredible feats that Adam has accomplished in climbing. Its kind of like Stephan Hawking never winning a Nobel prize, his accomplishments and notoriety were bigger than any award.
Some of this seems like such overkill, but then you remember that climbing is in the OLYMPICS! Olympians go hard. Adam went hard. Crazy amounts of prep.
4:44 is the difference between elite and the rest. Never settling and always trying to reach perfection. I love how those small things actually show a lot about someone.

Is nobody doing periodization in climbing training? Apparently it’s been quite a breakthrough in cycling and running training. You start the training year with long, low intensity endurance rides and then increase the intensity more and more (while decreasing duration) until the most important competition of the year. Take a few weeks off and then repeat the whole cycle.
This was a great series that explored everything you went through to prepare for the olympics, but one thing I think wasn't mentioned was why did you train inside a sauna?
The amount of both physical and mental work that went into prepping for the Olympics is crazy! Loved watching this series!
