- Yes this video is very long. I am sorry! In this video, we are un-wrapping and setting up our brand new Wood-Mizer LT15WIDE sawmill. Follow along as we try to figure out how to put it together and use it for the first time. Once we finished setting it up, we practiced on our first log by cutting a 6x8 Oak beam. We are extremely impressed with the sawmill and highly recommend Wood-Mizer to anyone interested in purchasing a sawmill. Drop a comment below if you have any tips or suggestions for us. Nice work fellas. Just a couple quick things we have learned in our first year of milling: first, Level/Center the Pith before you make your cuts for making a Cant. You'll generally end up with nicer lumber and less waste. Second off, and I'm sure you have figured this out by now, but your log/lumber stops have rollers on them specifically for rolling a log/cant. When you roll the log, roll into those rollers and you will save yourself a lot of wrestling logs around to get them back into place. Cheers fellas. Keep up the good work!
Thank you Andy! We appreciate the helpful tips.
I just got an LT15 last thursday. It was ussd (very little) so it was already assembeled. I got it leveled up on our gooseneck today so i could mill some timbers for it to set on where im gonna put it. Got to make my first cuts with it and its awesome! Great vid on putting one together!! Thanks!
That’s awesome man! We love ours so much! Many more videos to come!
I just ordered a woodmizer LX25 nothing even close to the size of yours. But I wanted to comment I just found your videos and you need to keep it up I definitely enjoy them!!!!
Thanks Alec! We are definitely going to be making a bunch of videos. It’s just hard to edit the videos with full time other careers. We appreciate the feedback though!
My son ordered a Woodmizer LT15 Wide last week. The wait time is one year!
Yeah it’s gotten crazy!
Making lumber, you guys are going to enjoy that mill
Now that umbrella on the saw that’s awesome 😎
Haha it was temporary
O God what a dream machine what I would give for a saw like that no cut is a problem now and you can make a fortune selling all those living edge planks have fun👍😁
Thank you! Just thinking buy one. Vey nice job.
Thank you
You fellers gonna make Sawyers after all! 🇺🇸
Thanks brother!

its so satisfying to watch lumber being cut! make sure to invest in a good metal detector that can read good depth so you can check for metal in your logs, will save a couple blades down the road!
Yeah we are trying to figure out which brand to get. It really is fun watching the log turn to lumber.
subbed on your live chat video :) but came to the start to see how your other videos are doing :)
Woodmizer has a video on how to put the LT 15 together after it arrives
took some time but you guys got it done but i think you need a cement under it and bolt it down
I'm dreaming to buy me one of this right now
Great job. But I will strongly recommend a concrete slab (upgrade: I saw you guys got some cover over the sawmill on later videos)
Hey batos locos buen video ami me gusto yo aprendi, ustedes se divirtieron verdad? Saludos desde Fort worth TX it was awesome
Thanks
Its been so many years ago that I don't remember my first sawing experience. I do remember watching for about a week and when I walked up confident, my dad cuffed me along side the head and said you can watch till the cows come home but your no sawyer and will never run any mill of mine! That hurt so bad that, was I able to, I would of cried but I did cry once... only once and dad gave me a reason to cry... from then on.. no tears for any reason. I was dang near thirty when I did cry the next time and I didn't even know I did... my wife was walking out the door and she saw me in the bathroom with tears running down my cheek and she came back and kissed me and said that I didn't have a heart of stone. It was a opening but one I ever seldom used as it was "unmanly" and so I just didn't. I did learn to pay attention and pay attention I did. I think that impatience has killed more and maimed more than most all preventable mistakes. I can see the reason to want to make some sawdust for the money spent... but I also see a man who doesn't have a lot of patience or the mistakes he made would of been minimal. To error is human, to never is to have not ever done a thing. Its human, we have a bellybutton so we make lots of mistakes and judging another is one of my worst. I get the idea that because I have done this or that and that I'm old that I must be able to do everything. Far from it and so I tend to lean the other when someone makes a mistake, I laugh it off and let it go. The best help I have ever been is to just stay out of it so if I just judged your dad wrong then I owe him a apology ... I haven't met him and know nothing about him... remember that when you point a finger at someone, that you have three more tucked back pointing at you!! Ow... that hurts don't it so you seem fairly level from what I have heard you speak and a lot of people will give you advice.... I hope that you either take notes when you get to my age so you can remember or at least process it and see if it does make heads or tails. Until one gets a lot of experience its best to keep the day job or have a very wealthy deep pocket as it will cost more than you can make when something bad happens... no I will not inject some of the accidents I have seen or tell of some "others", I just wish you safe. Three hundred plus million americans have to use or live or do something that will need wood till that machine that makes things from a drawing on paper or injected by a computer. I hope to watch all and see how you have come along
Thats awesome Morgan!
BRAVISSIMI BEAUTYFUL SEGHERIA ❤
Gong show !!!!!
I love the Gong show. Thanks Doug.
💜💜
have both in case
Man I've seen bananas straighter than that log lol good practice log though. Watch out for that beam, it might want to go back to its former shape. You also might want a more stable platform for the mill in the future. I watched a few videos of milling and thought "O that looks easy" Yea I was wrong, It's not that hard but I had to slow down at first cuz I thought I was a pro when I got mine and I was wrong. Cool stuff though, keep up the good work guys. If you haven't checked out Nate from "Out Of The Woods channel", do so he is pretty good
Thanks for the feedback brother! Yeah I love Nathan and his Out of the Woods channel! We are going to pour a slab in the future to put the mill on.
10k views without the wife, 2 million with. Very clever
hand crank, less problems
square it off, allow for slumpage, untill you have a level surface
Those cups on the log tightening arms just float on ends. They will end up on the bottom skids. Care should be taken not to loose them. One mill user has devised
a way to attach the cups permanently, sorry can't remember his name
Thank you
Did Woodmizer give you anyfeedback on your assembly? Did they have things installed backwards? Love the channel.
They did not but we did find some things installed backwards. Was an easy fix so it was okay
@@TripleLRusticDesigns The log dogs come with yellow tags that indicate they are installed in a shipping position (I see them zip-tied to your log dogs when you remove the plastic). They also say to refer to the manual for correct position.
been working with a homebuilt, 36 " Will that mill sustain a 36" myrtlewood heavy heavy weight
From the blade to the top of the throat,do you know if it's able to get a 10" or 12" cut without the wood contacting/ interference with the saw while attempting the cut? Depth of a cut I guess I should've typed?
Thanks and be safe
I just ran into this issue when we were trying to quarter saw lumber. I do not remember the depth though. I will check it and let you know
I'm thinking I can build a sawdust collecter with a bird seed bag, should hold 20 30 pounds per bag off the blower
can you provide about a half a dozen small wedges, I'm slabbing big wood, ceder and myrtle
Camera guy: Stay away from the guy with the knife. He's Dangerous!
Thank you
Surely you are not going to leave the shipping crate in place for the mill support.
We will pour a concrete slab
What was the total cost of the LT15 Wide Mill with power feed?
Love the content.... But I have one question??????? Did you put enough commercials in your video???? For the love of God dude it's annoying. New sub anyways
Hola amigo cuanto pagaste por esa maquina en tu pais?
👍2 thumbs up/subbed. 👍
Thanks Ron!!
