Thank you for this tutorial. From what I have seen, most people tend to over complicate thread making and whilst it is somewhat complicated, (especially as someone new to 3D printing and to FreeCAD), you have definitely simplified the process to my mind. I shall watch your video a couple more times, makes some notes and then give it a go. Thank you once again for what appears to be a very helpful tutorial.
This was extremely helpful! I had been trying to create my own thread profiles and trying to do helix cuts...I had a lot of problems doing it that way. The way you show here is so much easier.
Great tutorial!! I watched all the others and couldn't get a good print out of any of them, and with your to the point explanation i managed to get it right the first time.
I really like this approach. However, one thing bothers me: Manually positioning, rather than aligning it programmatically feels very brittle and will make it harder to change variables after that step. This is why I usually even avoid boolean operators and instead will do extra work with sketches and shape binders. Is there a solution to align bodies through constraints or similar?
Thanks! As you might have guessed, I intentionally made this video so that anyone could do it without knowledge of the complexities of FreeCAD that "fine tuning" would need. The videos on doing this by such folks as Mango Jelly delve into the details you are looking for!
@@drworry9320 Thanks! I gotta dig around more in his channel then about object positioning. MangoJelly's approach seems to convoluted to yours. Kudos again to the approach you found!
So much simpler than one I watched earlier - thanks!!
Very soothing instruction!

In part, I made these to remind myself how I do things....I had to ge back and look at one of my own videos the other day!

Very nice tutorial, thank you!
Great. Thank you 🙂
Nice video. Very insightful. Thanks 👍

Pretty good. I made the mistake at first of setting the radius of the top to 52 instead of the diameter..
hmmm---sometimes I say diameter when I mean radius...sorry!
