Oh my gracious! Thank you so much. I watched this video and quite easily fixed 2 vinyl windows where the shoe and the foot had become disconnected. The company who installed my windows10+ years ago are no longer around and I was at my wits end. As a 65 yr. old female, if I can do it, you can do it. I could NOT have figured this out without this tutorial!!

Thanks so much for this! I was cleaning the guest room windows for company and had this exact issue--one of my tabs popped out of the foot. You saved me a costly service call, and a nuisance for someone's staff.
It was hard to get the foot thing off the bottom, I had to lever the screwdriver and push up at an odd angle. But it worked!

Thanks for posting this! We just had a window cleaning crew accidentally pop out one of our new vinyl windows. She must've done what you said: Just opened it by leaning it in without first lifting it up above that bottom lip. I took the flat head screwdriver and adjusted both "boots" in their tracks, then I was able to fit the lower sash back into both tracks and pop it back into place. Viola. Done. thanks again for posting this!

Danny, just wanted to thank you so much for this video! Like the other commenters, I was cleaning my window and the upper window wouldn’t close when I was done. Turns out the foot fell out of the shoe. And the shoes were very far apart height wise. Also, where the metal foot goes into the window, the screw had stripped through the body of the window and I was having trouble getting it to stay in there. Also, the shoes were not budging and were too far apart to fit the window back in. Put some WD-40 on them and whacked them closer together. Took us about an hour and a half but we finally got the feet in place and the window back up. Phew! What an ordeal! I was about to call someone to replace the window bc it’s November in CT! 🌨☃️

Thanks, Danny. I was cleaning tilt out windows for the first time yesterday and did exactly what you said not to do. The only thing you didn't mention was how to unlock the shoes (going from the U shape to the C shape by turning with a flat head screwdriver and then relocking them) - but once I found that, basically did exactly what you show and now the window works and I can lock it shut again.

Thank you so much! When I bought my house one window wouldn't stay open, I finally got sick of this and decided to do something about it. I saw it was off track but for the life of me couldn't get the feet back in the boot. Your simple tilt the sash so the feet are uneven fixed the problem in 30 seconds (as opposed to the 20 minutes I had spent before watching the video). Thank you so much for your help!

Hi Danny! I Googled this very problem I have with one of my living room windows (and two others, though I fixed them. THANK YOU!). What a simple and VALUABLE video you have here... explaining and demonstrating exactly how to solve the problem. However, with the situation of my LR window which has been messed up over 4 week, the shoe where the feet go is *higher* towards the upper part of the window for some odd reason ~ not near the middle as your window is designed (which is much nicer!). Even though I'm strong, I can't get the window *out* in order to place it correctly. It remains tightly stuck at an odd angle and I don't want to force it out and break it, so I have to have a friend come here to help me out. Once I get it fixed, wish I could give you and your wife a bottle of wine! I'll comment back once the window is safely placed. - Cheers, Danny!

I bought an older house that had all new windows which I found I could not open. Kept a crow bar in every room so I could get out in case of fire. Could not figure out why none would open and one would but always slam shut. Mystery solved thanks to your video. Fixing every single one - fresh air at last! A little knowledge and some WD40. Thanks!

Great video. Our new windows are about two weeks old and my dad cleaned them today. Two of them are now “broken” as you show us all here. I’m pretty sure he did exactly what you showed, not clearing the lip of the frame. I just checked now on the shoes of the bottom sash, as it was easy to take the bottom sash out thanks to watching your video, and they don’t look like yours at all. They look more like a lower case u and they’re firmly wedged at the bottom of the frame.
Also great video work from your significant other!

My boyfriend and I were just taking our air conditioner out today and we were struggling so much on how to get the lower sash (learned that from you too, didn’t know what’s it’s right name was lol) back on. We had to turn the blue part of the shoe (learned that from you also LOL) to get the feet in. And WE DID IT!! Thanks you so much for making this video!! Had we kept at our own devices we would have needed a whole front wall of our house 😂
