Simple Fix For Windows That Stay Open or Don't Close Properly

  • This is a simple fix for a very common window problem. If you're window doesn't close all the way or you need a prop rod to keep the window from falling down then there is a good chance that this is your fix. And it's very easy to do.
Works on Andersen, Pella, Jeld-Wen, Marvin and most other brands that use a balance system that includes shoes. It will not work for much older windows that didn't use these type of block and tackle or constant force balances.
Message me or comment with questions and I will try my best to help.

Thank you so much! I was having issues with my windows after tilting them out to clean. I didn't even know they could come all the way out, so never even thought that there could be an issue with the positioning of the window pane (the sash).
    Thank you, thank you!

We have a window where neither the left or right shoe has a screw to adjust. Both shoes are positioned at the bottom of each track but will not slide up with the window, when it is raised. This also is not allowing us to close the window completely as there is a small gap at the bottom when we try. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

What happens when the spring shoots up? How do you get it back in place. I was washing my windows and I had the window resting on my knee now I know to keep it up a couple inches when I clean them, but maybe it still wasn’t enough and the spring shot up and disappeared if anyone knows how I can get the spring backlet me know. It’s a long spring because I was kind of lubricate the sides of the spring as well.

You may have a different type of shoe. Sometimes they need to be replaced if it's the older type. That is a more difficult repair but can be done by getting new parts and a jamb spreader. This is a company who will help you identify parts needed and stock most of them. blainewindow.com/
