Not enough people are taking about this. This was last released on a DVD which is now very rare. Renting it from my local rental store required a $200 deposit.
I gotta have this one too! I don't recall if it's a Shaw Brothers flick but I would love to see "Flying of the Master Guillotine" (1976) on blu-ray. I fell in love with that movie.
So excited to finally get this when it releases! I pre-ordered this the moment I saw it on Diabolik a few months ago, volume 1 was phenomenal. Love to see martial arts films getting this kind of attention, especially because HK home video releases have historically been so underwhelming from a technical standpoint.
pre-ordered as soon as it was available. The first set has been amazing. Working on playthrough two with the book provided to really get into more on the movies
excited about the prospects of Vol 3 and 4. I think its cool that they'd be moving more into the other releases Shaw did since they were a massive studio
I've pre-ordered mine already. My requests are MASKED AVENGERS, AVENGING EAGLE, TWO CHAMPIONS OF SHAOLIN, CLANS/FISTS OF THE WHITE LOTUS, and THE MASTER aka THREE EVIL MASTERS. Throw REBEL INTRUDERS in for good measure. Maybe even SHAOLIN RESCUERS for good measure. Not a great movie but that end fight is AMAZING.
I'm so glad Arrow is now releasing standard versions of these collected films (for Volume One so far). I just couldn't justify the expense and space these boxes would take up considering they were films I'd never heard of. So from day one I was hoping they'd get individual releases and what we are getting is ideal. The only down side is having to wait so long for them. I'm really just wanting more kung fu films so don't really want the other Shaw films, as good as they may be.
Hey bud liking the video just wanted to say that what really really winds me up is when a person is speaking English during Cantonese movie and the subtitles in English don’t even match what the English speaker is saying that drives me absolutely insane. I hate to think what they do with half of the other subtitlesis insane thanks fella. Keep up.
Dude, your collection is EPIC. Love it~ I just picked up Shawschope Vol 2 and I love it. Amazon had it on sale and there was a 20.00 off coupon, got in on that before the holidays! Anyone who loves Shaw Brothers films and the lore need to pick it up. Def a great addition to any budding collection.
Awesome that Vol 2 is so soon among us. Volume 1 was amazing though I have not had a chance to get through all of the content in that very masive set just yet. Between these volumes and the great stuff coming out from 88 Films we are well blessed with loads of great Shaw Bros and other marital arts films. As you say Heath we are blessed and it's a great time to be a film fan/collector. The only issue is one of space/money and time to absorb all the content, but it's a nice problem to have.
Honestly, anything with Philip Kwok or the "Venom Mob" in general would be cool for future Shawscope boxset installments. Also, "Come Drink With Me" would be nice 😁😁🤞🤞
I am glad they decided to break up into smaller volumes and also a more manageable size also. Imagine if they had kept all as one, we would have a gigantic version like the Criterion Godzilla, which I love but such a massive size. then we have the Gamera box set as well, which maybe Arrow did at that size to match the Criterion, but I really like these way better.
It also would have been INSANELY expensive. I love the color contrast between the different sets too, they'll look great on the shelf next to each other
I feel if they brought the Boxer's Omen to pair with Mercenaries on that one disc I would have replaced Mercenary for The Super Infra-Man to match that Tokusatsu and Horror double feature and move Mercenaries with Chinatown Kid as a double feature on that disc
I know I'm excited it's amazing to have movie like this on Blu-ray I hope they make volume three 2023 everyone be waiting for it yeah I'm a big martial art fan
I would love to see Buddha's Palm added to one of the box sets, as it doesn't have a Region 1 release. I bought the Region 3 DVD release along with a multi region DVD player about 14 years ago just so I can watch it. If they do add it to one of the box sets, I hope the subtitles doesn't move so fast as the Region 3 release, ha ha.
Looking forward to rewatching most of these classic SB flicks and adding this to my collection in Dec - let us know if that early release has any tech glitches…. kinda confusing on the US delay when distributors already sent out the goods
Heroes Two & Men from the monastery are highly recommended if you enjoy Shaolin Temple, and are chapters of the same tale. Five Superfighters was a great surprise to see in this set, a personal favourite (we had a WB video release in the UK in the late 1980's) , its sort of companion film MONKEY KUNG FU has been released by 88 films. Let's hope any future sets have a few Chor (Chu) Yuen and Sun Chung classics among the titles.
Are we ever going to get all the period films from Jackie chan, drunken master, snake and crane arts of shaolin would be fabulous to have them in a volume boxset as shawscope
Diabolik sent me a sale e-mail over the weekend. Vol. 1 was on a steep discount and (against my financial common sense) I clicked the link. By the time I got there it was already sold out. I took it as providence sparing me more debt, but I will get my hands on these some day. My first and second favorite non-Bruce kung fu movies are in these volumes.
Grindhouse Video did a sale on them not too long ago as well and had a bunch of extra copies. Instead of sending back to Arrow they decided to sell at the discounted price. I just looked and He still has copies at that sale price. $89.
@@mg-ThisHandleIsSoStupid Thanks. As it turned out, I got another e-mail from Diabolik and got the restock of vol. 1 for $85.83 incl. tax and shipping.
@@joshua2814 Nice. Even better. DiabolikDVD is always my first goto and try there first. It is nice to have a couple other options like Grindhouse and Orbit DVD but I prefer to help support DiabolikDVD.
Millions. DVD/Blu-ray and 4K is still a multi-billion dollar industry each year. More and more people are discovering that streaming was not a replacement for ownership.
Argh! I want Return to the 36th Chamber, but there's no way I can justify the price of this box during a cost of living crisis. I hope they get individual releases some time.
I have about 100 shaw brother's movies remastered and restored and in in english. While this set looks cool the price isn't really worth it. You can get 5 to 10 n times the movies for the price of a few which this set has. It's nice to see people still loving Shaw movies though.
Please consider Arrow personally financed new 4K or 2K scans out of pocket, plus many hours of new and archival special features, new subtitles, and the original audio. These movies deserve the best presentation possible, and they're finally getting it.
Is this a separate u.s release set? Because I know the uk released set has been subjected to bbfc cuts on mad monkey king fu for scenes of animal cruelty. If it’s a separate set then I’d import it to avoid having a cut/censored version in my collection.
My Young Auntie is one of the most entertaining of Liu Chia Liang's films. It's a riot.
It is amazing. Love that more people will get a chance to see it.
The artwork on this set is pure bliss. Can’t wait to buy this set. Thank you for this unboxing! 🙏🏾
Boxer's Omen is friggin' amazing. Totally nuts and highly entertaining.
Oh yeah! 🤯🙃🎃
Not enough people are taking about this. This was last released on a DVD which is now very rare. Renting it from my local rental store required a $200 deposit.
Sorry, but I agree with this guy that Boxer's Omen was total crap.

I hope they add 5 element ninjas to a future volume or stand alone release its a personal favorite of mine.
Boxers Omen has been hard to find for awhile and I heard it's batshit insane. Probably what I'm most excited about
It's a decent film...I personally perfer Seeding of a Ghost starring Philip Ko
I'd love to see Inframan in a future set.
pre-ordered as soon as it was available. The first set has been amazing. Working on playthrough two with the book provided to really get into more on the movies
You got me to buy volume 1 with your video on it. Volume 2 is a done deal.
excited about the prospects of Vol 3 and 4. I think its cool that they'd be moving more into the other releases Shaw did since they were a massive studio
Thanks for showing this! I cannot wait! I just picked up Volume One in July and I’m about halfway through it.
I've pre-ordered mine already. My requests are MASKED AVENGERS, AVENGING EAGLE, TWO CHAMPIONS OF SHAOLIN, CLANS/FISTS OF THE WHITE LOTUS, and THE MASTER aka THREE EVIL MASTERS. Must be noted that 36th Chambers of Shaolin Shaw Scope version is 5 mins longer than the Dragon Dynasty version 👍🏾
Boxer's Omen for the win! Would love to see HUMAN LANTERNS, 1982 in the next set !!

This would almost be worth buying for the Shaw backlog tour/interview. 🎃
Wow this is super early. I pre-ordered day 1, just as I did the Vol. 1 set, can't wait for it to come.
Honestly, anything with Philip Kwok or the "Venom Mob" in general would be cool for future Shawscope boxset installments. Also, "Come Drink With Me" would be nice 😁😁🤞🤞
The Shawscope sets are films they own both the US and UK rights to, the individual Shaw Bros releases are regional.
RE: the music - There are peices from Bernard Herrmann's TAXI DRIVER score in MAGNIFICENT RUFFINANS.

Where is the movie KILLER ARMY/THE REBEL INTRUDERS???? Is it on Volume 2???

Jackie Chan didn't make any movies for Shaw Brothers. He made all his early films with Rival Studio Golden Harvest

They also produced some movies in the Malay language in Asia. Mostly comedies.
I'm so bummed that I won't be able to receive mine until the end of December😪 hopefully I'll be able to watch this unboxing my Christmas presents 🎄🙏😁
If it's already ready to go, why are they not releasing it to the public until December?!
Grindhouse Video has in hand ready to ship.
Rumor is that they don't want it included in any upcoming sale, so they are postponing it just long enough...
