OK first, I'm older, 52 and I'm a fan of both but not a fanboy. So looking at this from the outside I'm very confused. Tom did a song called Travellers and had Struggle and Church on it. So why the beef? What happened behind the scenes? Because Tom hasn't said anything about Ryan. I'm not saying this is the case, but it seems Ryan feels like he's falling off and needs to bite from Tom's blow ups. Numbers are mixed here, Tom typically gets more views on his videos (he also advertises his music non-stop, where Upchurch doesn't advertise much of anything). Upchurch has a significantly higher net worth, and still has ~1/2 billion more total views on TH-cam. Church also tends to sell more albums on iTunes/Apple Music. I tend to think your perspective is clouded because you are more of a fan of Tom than Upchurch, and that's fine, it's understandable. My guess, this is about exactly what he said, Tom is driving in the wrong lane (country rap), which, in some ways, I can see that. Church didn't make the lane per se, but he did pave it, and made it where other artists in country rap were able to grow (Adam Calhoun is a good example of that, honestly). Both artists have the ability to produce absolute fire, only a fairly equal level, in their own lanes.

The rest of his albums are exclusively physical copies so he's not feeding the streaming platforms. He usually releases 4 or 5 music videos from each album and that's it. We buy his physical cd's and enjoy the rest of his songs. Win win..we get to enjoy them and he gets the money instead if the technocrats.

Look, I love both of them, they are the 2 primary artists I jam to. Admittedly, I do favor Church a bit, because my roots are country. But these comments are clearly littered with a lot of butthurt Tom fans who don't seem to realize that to stay on top in the rap game, you have to battle your actual competitors, which Upchurch certainly is for Tom.
Tom has some really good skills when it comes to diss tracks, I certainly acknowledge that, but I also know that Upchurch got a decent portion of his fanbase long before he even started releasing music, to a large extent by dissing people. Personally, I'm sure Church can make tracks that shred Tom, and Tom would probably be right up there with him coming back. It would actually make for some GOOD diss tracks.
A lot of people in these comments talking about how "weak" this track was, don't seem to realize that when it comes to diss tracks and battling, artists don't go full throttle right from the start, the initial track is more of a bait track, intentionally "weaker."
It would actually benefit both of these artists to do some battling. Tom can't sit there claiming to be the #1 independent artist without ever defending his self-proclaimed title (views only mean so much, especially when you're comparing these 2 artist. One advertises non-stop, the other advertises essentially never). "No response", "Don't Look Down", etc, are exceptional tracks, but constantly backing down from challenges, or only responding in roundabout ways, isn't going to do him any favors either.
And I'ma be honest, saying you felt bad for tearing someone apart in a battle, is pretty fucking weak in and of itself. But I still respect Tom.
Church isn't clout chasing. Hell, Church actually helped Tom build some of his fanbase. Church, in his own rights, blew Adam Calhoun up, which in turn has helped Tom grow also through, now 2, collab albums. Church has a greater net worth, by 50-75%. Tom typically gets more views (though again, we do go back to the advertising factor).
And nobody knows what even happened behind the scenes that really set this off, but so many people like to throw insults and accusations. Church hasn't peaked, neither has Tom.

Numbers are mixed here, Tom typically gets more views on his videos (he also advertises his music non-stop, where Upchurch doesn't advertise much of anything). Upchurch has a significantly higher net worth, and still has ~1/2 billion more total views on TH-cam. Church also tends to sell more albums on iTunes/Apple Music.
I tend to think your perspective is clouded because you are more of a fan of Tom than Upchurch, and that's fine, it's understandable.
My guess, this is about exactly what he said, Tom is driving in the wrong lane (country rap), which, in some ways, I can see that. Church didn't make the lane per se, but he did pave it, and made it where other artists in country rap were able to grow (Adam Calhoun is a good example of that, honestly).
Both artists have the ability to produce absolute fire, only a fairly equal level, in their own lanes.
@@xKillerClownxYou can't really use the album sales as a metric. Tom has only given 2 of his albums away to the streaming services, both of the Brave albums. The rest of his albums are exclusively physical copies so he's not feeding the streaming platforms. He usually releases 4 or 5 music videos from each album and that's it. We buy his physical cd's and enjoy the rest of his songs. Win win..we get to enjoy them and he gets the money instead if the technocrats.
