Oh and there is "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "funky town" playing in the background.
Something that's often forgotten about Curze is that even Angron had a happier childhood than Curze. Angron at least had the other gladiators he had for companions, but Curze was literally left as a feral child to grow up in the streets of super Gotham. His personality split into The Night Haunter, Curze was often seen as a benevolent leader who would actually show mercy on others when he ruled while wearing the Corona Nox. Some in the community, myself as well, believe that Curze had shifted his soul and personality into it allowing The Night Haunter, who flayed and exacted Justice in a ruthless manner, to run amok knowing that he would eventually be brought to justice by his Father. His soul would also be trapped in the crown and possibly be reincarnated at a later date after he had served what he believed was his penance. I mean if Fulgrim can have a perfect clone and Rowboat Girlyman can be resurrected, then so could Curze. Besides, think of how insane it'd be to have a LOYALIST Curze and Nightlords come back. Him and Corvus just having a bro-mance hunting down ALL the other traitor Primarchs. Story writes itself to be honest. Also, while the Iron Warriors carried the Horus Heresy. Had Curze NOT been a traitor, the Emperor would not be sitting on the throne. He delayed the Dark Angels and Ultramarines long enough for everyone else to blitz Terra.
On top of that he made the Lion even MORE paranoid, secretive and vengeful than he already was, something his legion carried on after the Scouring. Kurze didn't need the Night Lords, he made a more efficient version!

One point, and in my opinion a big, BIG one you and many others forgot to bring up, is that they were tutored by the Emperor's Children. So to me, they're not just thugs at best, deranged psychopaths at worse, they're also very skilled warriors, tacticians and strategists. Their biggest problem though is that they can ruin this advantage quickly because they become over confident and laxed and then things start to fall apart. One particular example I can think of is the battle of Sotha where a bunch of Night Lords capture essentially a space buoy and wait for the Ultramarines to investigate. They let the Ultramarines come investigate into the very depths and then spring their trap only for it to quickly fall apart. Although they won that, they took more casualties than they should have and what should have been essentially an execution of a squad of Ultramarines, turns into a running gun fight. Following this up, the battle of Sotha goes fantastic for all of half a day. A company of Ultramarines, a thousand marines, a few scouts, some Imperial Fists and at least one loyal Iron Warrior (although maybe a little more), with a few accompanying battle automata from the Mechanicum, are the only defenders of the world. They wipe out 900 Ultramarines in like an hour taking pretty much no losses. They have 10,000 Night Lords, there are now currently maybe 150 marine defenders, like 30 scouts, some PDF troops who don't really care about being in the army. This battle then goes on to last like, a month, then the Dark Angels arrive to rescue the defenders. They did so well, they absolutely had this in the bag and yet they drop the ball. What happened? So in my eyes, when these guys put their minds to something, forget about it, they absolutely will take apart the enemy. I like the Night Lords, I really do and not because I'm an edge lord. I see for a lot of Night Lords they are bad almost through and through, but for many they WANT a reason to live, they lament their existence and that they have no way out. I'm a Christian and I love God, not because I'm a good person, but because I'm a bad person and God loves me regardless of who I am and what I do and what I think and some of what could be described about the Night Lords, can be said about me in my soul. As well, there are many Christian Saints who have done bad things and been bad people, who have found forgiveness and atonement and repented of their ways, first that come to mind is Saint Paul. Saint Paul hunted down, persecuted and killed Christians, he enjoyed it, he thought he was doing the right thing persecuting people who were poor and down trodden. Does this sound familiar. I'm not saying I'd like God to show up in 40K and fix all the problems, but the Night Lords to me are the closest to becoming absolved and potentially bouncing back to be quite possibly the most humble, caring legion

Great episode like always! Please make an episode about Sevatar because he is the best Night Lord, even better than Kurz IMO. Also, he didn't die in the heresy. Aaron Dembski Bowden (ADB) confirmed on social media that Sevatar didn't die in the heresy as it is more of a "prologue" to his story. Finally I did want to mention Decimus who may or may not be uniting the Night Lords again though GW and ADB havent done anything with his story sadly.
In most mythology, I just realized that Curze is the Zeus, Fae, or whatever that is around 80% of the problems. The one where most stories just go, "an then there was this asshole."
Another great analysis and exposition. I thoroughly enjoy your content. I will continue to watch and hope for both of your continued success. Not many can do such long-form content so successfully. I look forward to future episodes.
In kurzes defense of the suicide women thing, there was a precedent for it. In England in the 1800s, attempted suicide was punished by hanging. It was a law to discourage people from trying since hanging was a very painful way to die.
2:24 there's a movie called the death of stalin where he makes an appearance and I read somewhere that in the scene where zhukov ( played by Jason issacs) was introduced, he was supposed to have more medals but they removed some because people thought the sheer amount of medals he had was meant to be a joke
The Custodes once brought the hundred most deadly monsters of Catachan to Terra for a Blood Game. After the warp jump only Sly Marbo was left. They declared him the winner three days later.
To be fair they toned down stukov's medals in Death of Stalin because they felt if they used the real ampunt folk would assume it was taking the piss. But my fav thing about him is that during the cold war he loved pepsi. And when they made pepsi crystal he pretended he was drinking vodka when asked.
The one thing I find most interesting about how the Soviets battled is their game plan of just withdrawing and giving up land because once Moscow was taking nothing was really that important until you hit the other side of Russia. Which was where they placed their manufacturing operations mainly. But the whole shoot the retreating soldiers wasn't entirely truth. Because they played into the whole wait until winter and demolish the invader. It was only the officers and generals that faced that. But they really do need more credit then the west gives them because they are the reason we won, given that they reached the German capital first and took it. It's like how people blame Starlin for his antics but completely forget the crap churchill was doing and saying. The world could have ended if Churchill wasnt removed, man was after starting ww3 right after ww2 finished by attacking the Soviets with nuclear weapons. And this entire time the Soviet just wanted a friend. They really wanted to join the axis powers but they got blocked. Then wanted to join the west but they also got blocked. It's like sure they're bad but good god the West needs to hold up a mirror.
I want a what if the night lords took DC Earth, and the Night Haunter hunted and captured Batman for a 1 on 1 debate on justice. Resulting in Bruce Wayne being forced to become a sudo-Astartes since he's too old.
You probably shouldn't be numbering pateron episodes in the same series as the public youtube ones. I think it might make it harder for the algorithm to suggest subsequent episodes.
I love how there is also a Night Lord who called THE ENTIRE LEGION out on their shenanigans, here's the vaguest gist of what he said: Each and every last one of you are weak willed cowards. When have you EVER raised your gun, taken up arms, prepared yourself for a "fight" knowing that there was a chance you wouldn't survive. All you do is fight the weak and the pitiful. We are SPACE MARINES, we were built for WAR, we were not designed to bullies picking on those who can't fight. Yet any time there's a fight that you aren't guaranteed to win, you run away. I'm SICK of it. EDIT: This was Talos Valcoran who said that. I know you mostly do entire legions and not just chapters besides a few, and I don’t know if you have done this one on patreon or not, but a Carcharodons, Space Sharks, episode would be amazing, especially their chapter master, Tyberos, "The Red Wake", he is a unite, and needs to be talked about, and the rest of the Space Sharks are amazing, but to be honest I mostly love them just because of Tyberos is really cool
Oh boy they did it
Gotta do hero’s if the imperium. Deserves more attention
Night lord bros, we are so back
Isyander: "There are entire systems, there's entire groups that only function because they propagate fear."
Me nodding: "The IRS."
I am really wanting that Inquisition episode from you guys! This podcast has single handedly gotten me back into 40k Lore.
Just for Isyander, lets get the Ultramarines episode.
No, just as the iron warriors, i am spiteful for no discernable reason.
As a Salamander would have seen it I feel Isyander needs his ultramarine vid
@@snifferdawg3607 FIIIIIIIIIIINE. But I don't have to like it!
No. 😛
@@snifferdawg3607 as Dark Angels enjoyer i have to say no before Blueberru Fuckers The First Legion needs some love and paranoia
Love this channel, watching (and listening in Spotify ) more than daily, you guys have a voice like fresh honey and melted ice cream, hoping for an ultra episode on the ultra correct answer 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Love your videos and you are why I started warhammer 40k
Me:"One day we'll get a raven guard episode"
Reality: "Nevermore"
It happened :>
Great episode like always!
Please make an episode about Sevatar because he is the best Night Lord, even better than Kurz IMO. Also, he didn't die in the heresy. Aaron Dembski Bowden (ADB) confirmed on social media that Sevatar didn't die in the heresy as it is more of a "prologue" to his story. Finally I did want to mention Decimus who may or may not be uniting the Night Lords again though GW and ADB havent done anything with his story sadly.
Heroes of the Imperium! The badass human need their time to shine!
Watching all these through again cause yall just pump out quality 🔥🔥
The tales of the hero’s of the imperium must be regaled lest the commissar come to knock
Non stop brilliant content, thank you both , glad to be a member 👍🏻 keep up the amazing lore vids boys
Sly Marbo once questioned an inquisitor and he listened
These guys are just so adorable and informative
Small note; Nostromo is not a tombworld, it is flat-out gone. He blew that shit into pieces.
In most mythology, I just realized that Curze is the Zeus, Fae, or whatever that is around 80% of the problems. The one where most stories just go, "an then there was this asshole."
Ultramarines, let's talk about how kurze skined planets in his little empire.
All thanks to the Lion and his silly secrets
Another great analysis and exposition. I thoroughly enjoy your content. I will continue to watch and hope for both of your continued success. Not many can do such long-form content so successfully. I look forward to future episodes.
Goddamnit I see the notification and an Eric Andre reference, you guys are actually my favorite podcast.
But in all actuality, I'm looking forward to the blindingly, childishly grim shenanigans of our batmen
8:23
Yeah. Goddamn.
In kurzes defense of the suicide women thing, there was a precedent for it. In England in the 1800s, attempted suicide was punished by hanging. It was a law to discourage people from trying since hanging was a very painful way to die.
Its not. Hanging was done in a fashion thay snapped ypur neck and you are dead instantaniously.
Make me mad? Make me mad?!?!
SIR.
I love Curze *BECAUSE* he's a doomer, thank you very much.
The Nightlords 1st Captain, Sevetar is was the first to say “Death to the False Emperor.”
2:24 there's a movie called the death of stalin where he makes an appearance and I read somewhere that in the scene where zhukov ( played by Jason issacs) was introduced, he was supposed to have more medals but they removed some because people thought the sheer amount of medals he had was meant to be a joke
That movie is a wild ride, it is so bat shit crazy you think it is all made up. Apparantly things got that wild, but the timeline was longer.
The Custodes once brought the hundred most deadly monsters of Catachan to Terra for a Blood Game. After the warp jump only Sly Marbo was left. They declared him the winner three days later.
May The Emperor bless us with the inquisition next episode
GIMME THE BLUE BERRY'S!!! (I love y'all's podcast so much it got me into Warhammer, hope y'all do the ultramarines)
Sevatar and Talos are top tier night lords that could get their own episodes
Konrad Curze definitely listens to funky town while he gets to work.
We really need a hero's of the imperium episode.
I love you guys, thank you for this mighty episode. Our time in the light is highly appreciated
Yea we need a Ciaphas Cain episode for sure
@Koda proud of you for being happy with your decorations amd keeping it down to 5 volts I see you...excellent work
IM MID NIGHT SHIFT. THE CAFFINE IS KICKING & THERES A NEW EPISODE LETS GO
you need to add this to the playlist
Ci-Ci Ciaphas Cain, Hero of the Imperium!
To be fair they toned down stukov's medals in Death of Stalin because they felt if they used the real ampunt folk would assume it was taking the piss. But my fav thing about him is that during the cold war he loved pepsi. And when they made pepsi crystal he pretended he was drinking vodka when asked.
I've never been so milly-rocked by a reference in my life like Funky Town
Same here
@@nerobsc7597I don't get it
@@jidk6565 and it’s better that way

Its funny, all the reasons said in this episode on why people dislike the Night Lords are all the reasons others LOVE THEM
Love the resigning that a Heroes of the Imperium would just end up being Ciaphas Cain, though it is a good subject to go with.
Tbf, the Commissars kind of *are* the Imperium's Poster Boys, both in and out of universe. Gaunt, Cain and Yarrick were Legends even to their enemies.
Sly Marbo is in your closet. He will begin screaming if he doesn't get an episode.
AAAAAAA, AAAAAA AAA?
What a banger of a episode guys, keep up the great work!
You probably shouldn't be numbering pateron episodes in the same series as the public youtube ones. I think it might make it harder for the algorithm to suggest subsequent episodes.
THAT NUCLEAR GHANDI WAS SO NERDY AND I FINALLU GOT IT, SO TRUE(a viewer from wv)
You gotta do Talos and first claw, pretty please
I pray to the emperor of mankind that you cover the Blood Ravens and their many holy relics!!!
My vote is an Inquisition episode. A single inquisitor has authority over even the Astartes, they are far too impactful to not know about
Hell yes! Always glad to see you guys post🎉
Actually it wasn’t the Ultramrines it was the AlphaLegion the whole tiiiiiime
I love how there is also a Night Lord who called THE ENTIRE LEGION out on their shenanigans, here's the vaguest gist of what he said:
Each and every last one of you are weak willed cowards.
On another note, I'd love to see the Heroes of the Imperium, I feel like Isyander is gonna cover the big ones: Solar Mecharius, Ciaphas Caine and all them, but also find some obscure yet interesting ones.
Yeah thats Talos
ah, I couldn't find the name, thank you@@lucianfrostbane

HEROS! For the Glory of the Imperium!
Are the Carcharadons made with night lord gene seed or am I tripping?
I have flayed many to get this video! And I will flat more for another!
