I have a Samsung Note 8 and all it can offer me are Bixby and Google Now which DO NOT RUN OFFLINE ENTIRELY with the exception of command phrases that you have to memorize and eventually make it even harder to use voice control to operate your phone as a result. Give Apple the credit it deserves for REFINING the technology here. Android may have voice control features for years, but NEVER as POLISHED and as INTUITIVE as this.
It‘s also for people with an iPhone where parts of the touchscreen don‘t work. I know someone who cracked his screen and now the bottom of his iPhone doesn‘t work with touch - this feature will help him a lot.

Thank you for the very clear and informative description of Voice Control. I agree that it is immediately important for people who are not able to access devices with their hands. Similarly it has great potential for all users as an alternative input/output method. Voice Control is now my primary method for operating my iPhone and iPad everywhere I go - particularly in my car.
I use voice control all the time! It really helps a lot since I am no longer able to hold my phone after a medical incident that happened in March 2018. Originally I was born with a rare disability, but I started having these weird spells after a concussion in elementary school. One afternoon one of these spells happened to me and they rapidly progressed over the past 12 hours. After I was rushed to the ER these spells were happening every 5 to 10 minutes, and it turned out they were mini seizures, so it really affected the use of my right arm so I am really really happy that Apple came up with this for iOS 13 since I am no longer able to hold my phone.
This is great. I am almost completely blind and can do a lot of stuff with siri and voice over and dictation but I want to learn to control everything by voice while I still have a little vudion. Thanks for the clear, helpful demobsteation
I've been asking all of the phone companies in my area about voice control. This is amazing news for me I have Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy so I can't really use my hands. I want to thank you for this information it makes getting a cell phone a lot closer for me.

So I don’t know your name, your history, your experience, your politics, or anything about you at all. That being said, I really appreciate the fact that you pointed out that these voice commands can be very useful for people with disabilities. A lot of tech channels would simply focus on the convenience that these types of features provide for able-bodied individuals. They are, of course, very convenient for anyone who is not disabled, but is busy trying to multitask (or even those who are just lazy! Lol) I used to be a software developer, data system architect, and technical team lead before my health tanked. So I find videos like yours to be quite interesting, especially when they discuss new tech that I am unfamiliar with due to my absence from the industry for a while. Although I don’t have any problems with vision, hearing, or touch, I am disabled now due to my illness. That’s a big reason why I appreciate your focus on the special needs of some users. And I also appreciate the fact that tech companies are making their products more user-friendly and accessible for those with disabilities. Sadly, some of us have to miss out on some really cool and/or fun things due to our conditions. I don’t know if you actually served in the armed forces or not, but I’m assuming you did (or currently still are.) I am a huge supporter of our men and women in uniform, whether they be military, police, fire, EMT, or anyone else who risks their safety for others. My Godson just joined the Navy, and he’s studying to be a nurse to help those who are wounded in combat. My dad, my ex-husband, and ex-father-in-law were all in the Air Force. So, in addition to my thanks for your recognition of those with special needs, please accept my gratitude and thanks for your service to our country and it’s citizens. Stay safe out there! That’s sincerely is one of the best features that I see in years! OMG, this could potentially bring some many functionalities to an absolutely awesome device like the iPad that I can’t believe. When I washing dishes I normally put some playlist in TH-cam to run but instead of that I could control all the iPad with just my voice. Awesome!

Bixby did originally have a feature like this back when Samsung experience 8.0 and 8.1 were around, however that unfortunately has now disappeared. I whatever the Samsung experience number was, it disappeared when Samsung jumped to android pie 9.0. Google themselves, did make an application called just speak, now called Voice access and it’s new iteration, however it does not work in tandem with there talk back screen reader, unlike with voiceover and voice control working together. There are several voiceover specific commands that can be used while voice control on iOS is running. I have tried said controls, on my iPad mini fifth generation. A couple of commands to mention by the way. You can use go to sleep to stop speech from being executed via your voice when voice control is being used, and wake up to resume voice control.

I was excited to hear about this capability, because I do a fair amount of texting and emailing with my iPhone X. I am a long-time user of speech recognition on my PC, but I have been frustrated with the large number of mistakes that occur when I try to dictate using my phone. However, I have found that dictation using Voice Control is very buggy, slow and inaccurate. If I dictate a sentence, I am lucky if the last word in the sentence appears. Incidentally, I do have a high-speed Internet connection. On the other hand, Voice Control has no trouble recognizing commands. As a result, I .get better results dictating with Siri and then correcting any mistakes using the Voice Control command "Replace with ". In other words, Voice Control recognizes words and phrases dictated using Siri, and Siri is fast and reasonably accurate. It's a bit of a work around, but it is a plus, although if I pause too long between sentences, Siri loses interest in what I'm doing and I have to tap the microphone icon again.
Now it‘s important for third party developers to also make use of it by correctly naming icons, images and stuff like that so that it‘s always recognizable by words! For example, I‘m sure a lot of image names in third party apps are random like „image-3.jpeg“ instead of actually being accurate descriptions of the image. Something like „Mountain.jpeg“ would be better, so you could say „long press on mountain image“ or even „copy mountain image“ instead of using numbers. That‘s just one example. Apple actually mentioned the importance of it in one of their WWDC sessions this year. If developers will make it, Voice Control will get even better across third party apps as well.

This this is cool, and I think it's great Apple is thinking of those who can't use physical input. On android, you can say things like "turn on the flashlight", and not need to go through such basic commands. I think the best long term approach, is to be able to tell your phone what you want done. Now how to do it.

I have a question, is it possible when I received a call to activate the loudspeaker and change the volume by voice and also when I want to end the call if the person don't press hang off the phone I'm not able to do. I can't use my hands and I need to do everything by voice. I'm using Iphone 13 Pro. Thanks a lot and keep up the good work
See it all falls apart when you have to say show numbers and pick a number. Google is doing the basic version of this with google assistant where you speak commands deep within an app and it does it with just your voice. But they need to find a better way.
You can say "Show numbers continuously" to keep numbers on, and then say "Hide numbers" as well!

Hey I just noticed when you use this feature and go to charge your phone the display time you have your phone set too will not work your screen will stay on and also as I’m watching your video it is listening and typing everything you say on it’s so this is something Apple needs to fix in beta

Idk, but iphone is late with their tech. Samsung had that feature since 3 years ago. That's why i prefer Samsung. That's my opinion. It also has powerful specs.

Hello, I saw your video explaining the voice activation and you really helped me a lot.
I have a question, is it possible when I received a call to activate the loudspeaker and change the volume by voice and also when I want to end the call if the person don't press hang off the phone I'm not able to do. I can't use my hands and I need to do everything by voice. I'm using Iphone 13 Pro.

See it all falls apart when you have to say show numbers and pick a number. Google is doing the basic version of this with google assistant where you speak commands deep within an app and it does it with just your voice. But they need to find a better way.
