Another excellent comparison review. I wish the Topo Specter 2 was more readily available in Australia. Sounds like a good shoe. Best of luck with your race next week too! I hope it goes well.
@@dreamcatcherfan1382 many thanks! Yeah, those smaller brands have a hard time getting a foothold across oceans. And when they do, the markups tend to be ludicrous.
@@i.p2088 Industry secret (though not well kept): shoes make with wide width (2E in the US) don’t use a different midsole platform for the last. They just include more upper fabric. That changes with 4E (extra wide) widths, but those are less common. So if the fit is too narrow underneath, there’s not much a wide width will do to improve that. With Hoka in general, I know a lot of people for whom the toebox fit is prohibitive.
I might have to get the Specter 2s. I like the wider toe foot and Topo's have always felt good on foot. I'm mainly a short distance runner (5ks) right now. I currently run in the Hyperion Max 2s, which I also really like, but am looking for something for daily training without a plate. I have the Novablast 4s arriving soon too.
Loved the comparison. I'm marathon training using the Cyclone 2 for speed workouts and Asics Superblast 1 for long runs. I'm trying to figure out what shoe to run the marathon in. I'm not fast enough for a plated shoe. I'm considering buying the Spector 2, or the Atmos, or just going with my Superblast. I need to find a store to try the Atmos on, I suppose.
@@philosopheronamission5649 I think all of those would be great options, but I imagine either the Specter 2 or the Superblast would feel faster (or make you feel stronger at least) on marathon race day. Among those three, I personally would choose the Specter 2. But I would counsel anyone to try it out on a 2-2.5 long run before committing to use it as their marathon racer.

@@bschlussel79 thanks for watching!
I tried the Mach 6 in WIDE but it's just a bit narrow in the toebox.. Had Topo Ultrafly and the Topo fit is great.
