Oh I love this album. First listen....no. Third listen? I'm ALL in. She's a genius and I love that your reactions feel like listening with a friend. I have no Swiftie-Friends so thanks for being a friend on this App 🍀
I think “Clara Bow” is more about how Hollywood is always ready for a new, young starlet to take your place, even if you're Taylor Swift. When she says, “The future’s bright, dazzling,” she's speaking from the pov of New, Young Starlet. They're excited to be the next big thing, the way she was. And they're being fed the same lines but will likely meet the same fate. It's probably my current favorite on this album.
I also saw the same thing in Clara Bow that you did, but did you notice in the first verse: "you'd be picked like a rose...but I think I might die if it happened." Because what happens to cut roses? They die, like you said. The girl’s answer is foreshadowing that the industry destroys the beautiful young girls that get singled out as superior. So many of our heroines come to tragic ends, usually due to the pressure of their own fame. I love that Taylor went with Stevie Nicks, but she could have easily used Marylyn Monroe, instead (or in addition to). Obviously, she wanted a more contemporary and relatable connection. Clara is so random that I wonder if Stevie was compared to her at some point early in her career. (That woman loved a smokey eye in the '70's) And Taylor was compared to Stevie. **Interestingly, Clara's most prolific year was 1925 when she was in 15 films. (According to Wiki.) Then Taylor specifically mentions 1975 for Stevie, which is a 50-year gap exactly. Then she names Taylor, herself. It's 2024 of course, but who knows what she has planned for next year. She's touring all this year. I expect we'll get the other 2 re-releases before the end of the tour. I can't imagine she's going to end the Eras Tour before she's completed the re-recording project. 2025 will be another 50-year gap, so WTF can she possibly have planned that will top last year and this year? (Taylor never does anything randomly, especially having to do with numbers.)** Anyhow back to what you were was saying at the beginning of Clara Bow, it is sinister. It's dark and ugly what fame does to young, impressionable women. The song's Bridge is especially telling. Youth and beauty are fleeting. I think back to Miss Americana and about Taylor's struggle with her weight and how an unflattering photo would launch hundreds of scathing comments from the press or social media "like a beast on all fours". For me, this song is like Tolerate It in that she paints a terrible and dark picture of tragedy waiting to happen, then leaves us there with no resolution.
As a swiftie since I was 13 (I'm almost 31 now) this is hands down my favorite album of hers. I feel like I've grown up with her and she's always been authentic, but this was a different level. This album is mature, vulnerable, and raw. It is so honest and as someone who was always been labeled a "sensitive" person, her depth of her feelings makes me feel less alone. In hindsight they sound dramatic, but in the moment you feel these things with such intensity and it feels life shattering. I commend her so much for being brave enough to say these thoughts out loud, let alone sharing them with the world. It breaks my heart that the fame is so hard on her because I truly believe Taylor is a sensitive soul at heart and just wants to feel seen and create art and do what she loves. I think that burden is amplified when your partner is also overwhelmed. I truly hope she is in a better place. I hope she continues to be happy and live for herself at the end of the day. Some of the reviews of this album frustrate the hell out of me. Did some of these people learn nothing!? She doesn't exist to entertain you to the way you see fit or date who you see fit. She is an artist sharing her craft with the world. If you resonate with it great, if not- move on. To criticize her feelings because she is a 34 year old woman has to be some of the most insensitive shit I've ever seen. Is their an age limit on heartbreak and pain? And she just told you over and over how the scrutiny hurts her and yet they still go so hard? It's why we have so many people in Hollywood with mental health struggles, where does the line get drawn? Anyway, off of my tangent!!! Haha I loved your reaction. This album has been on repeat for me and the more you listen, the more you understand and I've been moved to tears and full body chills multiple times! 🤍
How could scrutiny weigh on a person who has promoted social relations like no other artist in living memory? An artist who has created her own personal myth through the exposure of his private life. An artist who says that her album talks about 13 nights that she couldn't sleep is screaming for people to look at her. An artist who promotes her album by saying that her new songs are cathartic cannot then complain about the morbidity she is creating. The scrutiny that she receives is the scrutiny that she encourages, 34 years and we continue with the Easter eggs, with the intrigues and with the encrypted messages. Stop worrying about Taylor, she is not sad or depressed, she is perfectly fine with her records, her best sales and her successful tour.
Thank you so much, Beth! Always waiting for your reactions. You are doing it so natural and sincere. Also love that you dive into the lyrics and the meaning, not just the sound. Sometimes I have no idea about the meaning of the song and you explain it so good ❤
This album is brilliant, it´s dark, raw, extremely honest and pure art., it just gets better and better with every listen. Surprised you find it repetative in sound, because to me every song has very different production sound eventhough they have a thread. "Fresh out the slammer " is about her running back to Matty( they have a long history) after she had left Joe. So many songs on this album is about Matty...a few Joe.. and 2,5 about Travis(the positive ones)
It does get better with every listen - I stand by thinking they all sounded the same at first but will say I’m able to differentiate them better now! It’s just a very cohesive album
I listened to this album on 19th April, release date and after I felt really relax. There is so much to take in, which is so unusual for a Commercial album release. I usually get that fulfilled vibe from Finnish band, "Nightwish" and Dutch band, "Epica", with their albums. The music has hints of 80’s nostalgia with a vibe of Lana Del Rey. It is not musically intense, bringing out an ethereal sound with subtle quirky sounds coming at you in the right time, presenting build in the songs. What I like there isn’t annoying heavy basslines and beats to overwhelm the vocals. The volume and clarity of the vocals is excellent. I believe this is her most constructive and mature album to date. I will be putting this in my top favourite albums so far for 2024.

“What if he’s written ‘’Mine’ on my upper thigh” - Mine is a Taylor Swift song. Something something rolled the stone away” she could be referencing Jesus’s resurrection.
We’ve been given the cheat codes to the previous 3 albums. The “fictional teenage love triangle” was not about teenagers nor so fictional, Taylor just changed the sexes of the parties to protect the guilty.
lol it’s somewhere in the middle of the video but tbh i was so exhausted from processing the first album, that i didn’t feel excitement so much as overwhelmed 😭
I’m not a Taylor fan but I decided to give this album a go because of the funny things people were saying online about the bad lyrics and how corny she is etc, and I know why I’m not lol. All the songs sound almost identical, the lyrics are just something else like trying to sound deep but are anything but. There is no doubt she is talented as a songwriter at times but it’s always the same and I wonder how long it can go on for. How many albums of the same premise, same sound and same lyricism can happen lol. She’s popular because she’s marketable and vanilla, never pushing boundaries and changing it up. I actually found her bleach blonde hair era to be the most interesting she’s ever came across yet apparently that’s her fans least favourite timeframe, ironic.
LOL Every single thing you just wrote is unfactual and just very uneducated. Either you never listened to any of her music, or you just lack the depht and comprehension skills to understand deep, complex emotions and multi layered lyrics. There is medical treatment for your massive inferiority complex, suggest you get that help. I understand why someone with such self-loathing as you would feel threathened by someone with such talent, success and high vibration of light and love. When you open up your brainwashed narrow mind and learn to love yourself, you might be ale to concieve an artist as complex as Taylor, and no longer feel the need to write non-factual think pieces to tear her down because you hate yourself, but for now I´d say she´s way to advanced for your simple mind...
@@Ivashaaa if im expected to ignore wrong statements about her songs sounding the same and being about the same things is childish to you then sorry you are probably the one that needs to do some growing up .🙃

Title of the video: (PT 1)
Yes! I hadn’t added the title yet when they asked 🤎
Tell me you never listened to taylor swift without telling me you never listening to taylor swift🙂
@@dareal_legendario245 You’re just perpetuating what people say about her fans 😬 stubborn and childish
@@Ivashaaa if im expected to ignore wrong statements about her songs sounding the same and being about the same things is childish to you then sorry you are probably the one that needs to do some growing up .🙃
@@dareal_legendario245 proving it again. Have you never heard of an opinion? “Wrong statements” lol how ignorant can you be. You need to touch grass if you don’t understand people can have different opinions on things, especially something so trivial as music.
A skip album
I think you forgot a "no" between the A and skip.
@@Flawed.individual well no
