I consider Madame X one of her boldest statements, artistically speaking. Many of her peers had settled for being legacy acts in recent times, but Madonna has continuosly challenged herself and refused to stick to her own past in order to stay relevant. It may be a little confusing album, but I consider one of her most important. To be 61 years old (at that time) and still pursue new sounds is something that not all popstars does.
I completely agree - super well said 😊 plus seeing the Madame X tour really added a new layer to it for me. I see it as the post-script to American Life that folks will love in another 5-10 yrs
Although this is one of my favorite Madonna albums, it’s hard to like it, which I get. It took me **months** to like this album and really enjoy it, but now it’s one of my most played Madonna albums. What I absolutely adore about your reactions is that they’re always pure and genuine. I think alot of creators would be like, yea this song isn’t my favorite but it’s pretty good, you straight up say if you like it or if you don’t, and what parts you like and vice versa. What I’ve noticed about you and that sets you apart from most music reactors is that you often tend to compare and find similarities with her other albums which really highlights you’re dedication and intrest in Madonna. You’re not like, oh im just gonna react to her to get views and then I’ll leave it behind, which I have alot of respect for. It’s so great to see people my age discovering Madonna, and great reaction by the way, hugs from Sweden! ❤️
@@grazmsp2473 Thank you for this kind comment omg 😭♥️ I’m so invested in madonna rn like she’s just on another level 💃🏻 And i always try to be honest bc what’s the point of lying so i appreciate you saying that♥️
@@softshallow7435 That makes sense honestly bc she already had a solid fan base and career so why not experiment a bit, also she probably wanted to try new things 💃🏻♥️
This album is extremely divisive. Personally, this album is one of my favorite albums of all time and it had a really big impact on me. People simply don't understand this album. This album is Madonna's Avant-Pop, World music and Art Pop opus, and art pop means playing with the elements you have: for example, if there are manipulated vocals on a song, there is an artistic reason for it. The songs are unpredictable and whimsical, like good adventurous music. What can I say, this album is diverse, folkloric and futuristic. My best friend says that this album will be more appreciated in the future, because of how edgy it is musically, and the lyrics are politically and socially relevant. This album is full of contrats, and the album constantly puts organic elements against electronic touches or auto-tuned or vocodered vocals, that is the point.
@@alejandrogiraldoorozco4075 Totally agree with everything you said :) that’s why i did my best to separate my personal taste from the more artistic interpretations ♥️♥️♥️
The small documentary about her time in Portugal explains a lot. The video's for this album are great. Medellin, Batuka, Dark Ballet, Crave, I rise and God control.
Re-istening and I'm crying right now, it's getting better and better, even after 5 years. Yes, its something else, no comparison, probably not commercial, but so good. It should have won awards, but she got snubbed anyway, what's new, ah whatever! Next!
Finally enough Love! You made it to Madame X. In my opinion this is honestly one of Madonna’s best albums, and the one I find my self going to most these days. I actually think within the fandom it was mostly universally loved except for casual Madonna fans that only listen to her more fun, dance tracks. Especially because it was such a return to forum for Madonna in how she experiments with music and tries to find her own sound despite what mainstream pop is doing. Like you mentioned she was inspired by all the music she was exposed to after moving to Lisbon, but it was during the aftermath of 2017 presidential election hence the heavy political theme. I love how the album starts off with Medellin, with madonna singing “Ven conmigo, let's take a trip” preluding the musical and cultural journey she is about to take us on. From disco, fado, art pop, arabic ginwa music, house, trap hop, reggae, batuque, a quirky take on classical music, reggaeton and more. They all mix so seamlessly and sound like they belong in the same album. Given there are so many messages in the album, I’d like to give some context behind what I think some of them mean, so feel free to read as much or as little of this as you want lol. God Control is an album highlight for sure. The title God Control is a play on the word gun control. Even tho the message is clear, there are a lot of layers in how she conveys it. The way she delivers the song’s opening lines feels like her mouth is forced shut and has to sing through her teeth, while in the end of the song she whispers the same verse, all eluding that sometimes it feels like you can’t speak this truth. Ironically lyrically she is saying “everybody knows the damn truth”. And sonically the song is so layered! The strings swirling so frantically giving it a sense of urgency, the choir lamenting the loss of gun control. All being incorporated into a disco track??? Now that’s brilliant! Dark Ballet is another amazing song. It’s actually a retelling on the story of Joan of ark. I personally think what Madonna is saying here is that her story is still relevant today because of the dance or “game” so many minorities have to play in this world to survive. How people outside societal norms are vilified for standing their ground. It’s quirky, dark yet comical and bizarre in the best way possible. Another incredible track is Batuka, which like you mention is inspired by batuque music which was created by the women of Cape Verde. The slave trade has strong roots there and the drums would often be taken away by the church from these women as it was viewed as an act of rebellion. In the song madonna is singing with the actual batukadeiras orchestra. And it feels like a rebellion in response to todays issues. It was beyond incredible seeing it live with all the batukaderias on stage, such a female empowerment moment. I could go into so much more detail and talk for hours about all the music, lyrics and tour, but I cant fit that all in here haha. It’s madonna being as bold and experimental as ever and I love it. You have to react to the music videos from this era too. Specifically God control, Dark ballet and Batuka to get the full vision. But thanks for taking us on your Madonna journey, so excited to see what comes next
@@BethThereseReacts you might know it at this point but on stage is where Madonna shines the most. Either way, hope you're having a great time on this M journey!
In my opinion this record is a continuation of the American Life album. The disenchanted American woman leaves the United States and this is her perspective outside looking in. Both records were produced my Mirwais and Madonna. A lot of fans don’t love this record which is ironic because this is the most “Madonna” album we’ve received in years.
That theory makes sense. We could even say, American Life is the american woman unhappy with her dreaming life, so she's deciding to flee. Madame X is the part where she's finally out and seeing other politics and cultures
@@BethThereseReacts she has a mushroom trip along the way, screws Maluma in Medellín (don’t blame her one bit) and the real meat and potatoes of the record begins on her walk of shame out to the Uber and Dark Ballet begins… 😂
What I love about this album is that unlike Rebel Heart, MDNA and Hard Candy with this album she wasn’t chasing after trends trying to make a mainstream record that’s why I truly believe Madame X is ahead of its time sonically.
@@BethThereseReactsThose 2 albums are not bad at all. But if we talk about Madonna's own league, these 2 are not inside her top 5 albums of all the time. Anyways, they're good albums and were very successful around the world.
I think all of her albums come from a genuine place. Just because hard candy, MDNA and rebel heart use sounds that were trendy at the time, doesn't make it any less genuine. Just look at her 80s albums and even bedtime stories. Those albums all are very much influenced from the sounds that were trendy in pop music at that moment. This doesn't make them any less Madonna. Madonna just gets very fascinated with certains sounds, that are often mainstream, and likes to add those music influences and styles into her music. This has always been the case.
Batuka features vocals and drumming from the Batukadeiras Orchestra from Portugal (Orquestra de Batukadeiras de Portugal) a group of women who plays Batuko, a genre from Cape Verde, a former portuguese colony. In colonial times, the Batuko was banned from the islands because white people thought that women who played it were doing it in order to seduce them, but they were doing it as form of resistence by singing the sorrow of living under the domination of white Europeans. It was only in 1975, when Cape Verde became independent, and after years of discussions on building the country's national identity, that the cultural value of Batuko was recognized and it's now one of the cultural treasures of Cape Verde. I think it's important to know the stroy behind this one since Madonna became extremely connected with the music from many other former colonies from Portugal, like Brazil, Goa, Guine-Bissau, etc.
I went straight to the "thoughts" part of the video haha. Surprised and pleased that you seemed to enjoy the album for the most part. I think you're officially a Madonna stan now! I'm excited to revisit this with you, must admit that while I like some of the songs, it's probably been the one Madonna album I don't really go back to much. Maybe time for a re-assessment.
You have artistic integrity! I enjoyed listening to your insights. Also God Control is my fav MX song maybe out of her entire discography. My initial listen was confusing too but so happy you liked it too. Her MV and live performances really made this song even better, and she even reduced the length gradually.
I really respect your madonnas reactions. You are smart and have Musical knowledge Madonna doesn’t need to prove anything to any one she is brave an take the road less traveled, taking risks and doing what she feels like. I can only have admiration for that woman
The first time I heard the album... I didn't like it very much, but then, the production, the mix, the sounds, the lyrics, the meaning. It's everything. I'm obsessed with this era. you have to see the videos, the performances and the tour. The tour is pure magic, it is made thinking down to the smallest detail. you have to see everything from this era.❤❤❤❤
Thanks Beth for another great reaction! MX is one of my favs yet know not everyone feels the same - it does grow on you. Ciao Bella is a good bonus track. I Don't Search, with finger snapping sampled from Vogue, became her record breaking 50th Billboard #1. The World of Madam X doc/film does add context to some songs like the call back voices on Batuka and percussions on Come Alive. And, the well produced videos can add new context to some songs. If you eventually get to the tour, it's unlike her past tours as the shows are in much smaller theaters instead of stadiums and a more intimate up-close experience. Looking forward to your next reaction!
@@JoeTheLion1 Thank you again for watching and for the kind and informative comment! 🫶🏻 Yes it’s crazy to see how my opinions on songs are morphing with more listens!
Yaaay, I’m glad you didn’t hate it. I love most of this album. I love that she did something completely artistic and confrontational, which she hadn’t done in a while. Maybe since American Life. I’m really proud of the fact that this was her first album in her 60s. I’m looking forward to her next one. Madonna’s catalog is incredible. There really is just something for everyone. And like you said you don’t have to like every album, she’s always gonna change her sound and do something she hasn’t done before. There’s a concert film based on this album called Madame X Tour on Paramount+. You should most definitely check it out. Also the music videos for this album were absolutely exquisite.
Beth, I really really admire that you are actually invested in the artist regardless of a trend, I find a lot of value in that. Also, I just think that you are a very talented analyst of music, you easily pointed out certain things you noticed artistically on this album that I NEVER realised were even there, and now I kinda love MX. I was thinking, while watching the video that this album is TOTALLY gonna be looked back at and be praised in the future. I love what you do and I love that we are having a madonna obsession at the same exact time. It's like obsessing over something with a friend. I just find your content so comforting LOVE YOU SM, looking fw to the next madonna vid >:) ALSO REACT TO THE GIRLIE SHOW, BLOND AMBITION TOURS AND I'M BREATHLESS (if you feel like it, but trust me they are NEXT LEVEL)
there's many things i don't love about this album (especially the amount of autotune), but i LOVE how diverse and different it is to everything that was being done at the time. it really felt like she was back on tracks on doing what she loves, and not what everyone else was doing (like her last 3 albuns). i also love the many "cultural" references and instruments that she has going on here. felt really creative and well thought out 😊 p.s: she "toured" this album in a small theater tour, it was intimate and really nice, i think it condensed the album in a way that worked better than the album itself... it was released on paramount+, you should check it out!
I didn't know if I commented on this one. This album is one of my alltime favorite albums from Madonna. It reminded me more of the cutting stuff she used to do in the 90s. I realize that it divides fan,but i think it's one of my alltime favorites. For some oddball reason it reminds me of true blue lol.
also, thank you for being so open to Madame X, I love that! Personally one of my favorite albums she released, it is such a ride! You were so open minded to absorb the album, I've heard so many bitter fans hating on this album that it was actually refreshing to see someone not necessarily a die hard fan actually appreciate its artistry and experimentation!
Beth love your thoughts on this latest Madonna album it’s far from perfect but I love how experimental she is. So many at this point in their career just repeat themselves Madonna definitely wasn’t repeating herself! I think I’m breathless would be an interesting reaction!
Madame X is like a painting full of detail...its a great listening experience. Top 5 M album for me. The use of vocoder can feel a bit much but it's definitely a stylistic choice after all she is playing a spy in the house of love. Great, great album.
An hour and a half ago I went to your channel to see if there was a new video. I left sad because there wasn’t. And now, you surprised us with a new video bout Madonna. Thanks from Argentina!
Madame X is a very special album to me. First because I love Madonna experimenting, second because I'm Brazilian and it was a pleasant surprise to hear her singing in Portuguese. It's a hard album to digest, but the more you listen, the more immersed you feel. Sorry about my english... Thank you for share your experience with us and for giving Madonna space on your channel ❤
You can't do Madame X without the videos. Dark Ballet to me is one of her BEST tracks. And what follows? Iconic. This album gave me everything I needed from her. I love how your Madonna and Britney journey seem to mirror each other, struggling with vocal effects taking away from message and insane producer choices. Except for Glory vs Madame X lol
@@BethThereseReacts Maybe you'll be crazy spontaneous and react to the Madame X videos for us. Medellin, Crave, Dark Ballet, God Control and Batuka. All the others could come later :P It would truly enhance your experience/appreciation for this album. In any case, LOVE your reactions. Truly. Can't wait for the next one, whatever you choose that to be!
Madame X is a specific mood album. Some of her absolute deepest songs are on this album like Looking for Mercy and Extreme Occident and others are plain hard to digest. It’s definitely one of her most ambitious works, I love it! Wondering if you were planning to react to the I’m Breathless album or any of her soundtrack songs? She has a lot of gems that don’t appear on an album.
wow. never clicked 'play' so quickly. An extremely valid reaction/review/update. I love the way your incorporate critical thinking into your reactions rather than relying just on emotion
I think this is a landmark record for a number of reasons, but the main one is probably that it's almost unheard of for an artist to release an album with so many new ideas and so much curiosity about the world almost 40 years into their career. The album's genre and culture blurring is already evident in albums like Rosalia's MOTOMAMI. Also, I think you mentioned that you like Taylor and she went to see this tour with her friends in New York
Thank you for this reaction! I love hearing your commentary. I also love that Madonna takes risks and does what she wants as opposed to trying to please people. Badass bish. This album is daring and unapologetic. The videos will provide a lot more context if you're interested.
She was living in Lisbon for a few years and got really inspired by the mix of cultures she found. A mix between Portuguese, African and Latin influences. When she toured the album she chose to do small shows in theatres and in Lisbon she actually performed “Fado”, Portuguese traditional music. The videos on the album are kind of amazing, brings another perspective to the songs. Portuguese fan over here, always anxious for your videos! Beijo
@@danielhennessey4282 No, the music sounds the same as the song "I don't search I find", the same base, but with an African voice accompanying it. Nothing special. The whole Madame X is a complete disaster. Bad sound, bad editing, bad mixing, bad quality, the robotic voice in every song becomes unbearable to listen to. The only SONG notable is CRAVE.
Loved this reaction. You get this album and not many people do. It’s the most Madonna album in a long time in that she’s experimenting again with sounds and this is when she shines. The tour for this album is AMAZING.
This is the more chaotic album I reacted in my life, it’s so Eclectic, I don’t know what to do with this… yeah I remember mi first time listening to this masterpiece ❤
Most of those extremely experimental songs make much more sense when you see the music video. Even the tour for this album was experimental for Madonna, she did a broadway style Theater tour instead of the usual stadium tour. It was a much more intimate experience and involved monologuing, audience participation, and broadway style staging.
I absolutely love this album. Her first album in some time where you can hear she made EXACTLY the album she wanted. I feel like the lyric in Medellin - I took a trip it set me free - encapsulates this album for me. By far one of her most artistic efforts in years.
I love this album! Faz gostoso is one of my all time favorite songs. I love that every track is different and it's so interesting to listen to! Loved your reaction as always Beth❤
What I love about this album is that after about a decade of chasing hits and trying to find where she fit into the pop culture climate, she found herself and her artistry again. It is quite possibly her most experimental album ever and definitely her most personal mediation on society, her career, herself and a great commentary on where we find ourselves, since American Life, which is interesting as Mirwais produced American Life and the bulk of this album too,. The Madame X concept works as the album is an exploration of so many genres, but for the first time sees herself travelling through the various guises, personas and disguises she's worn through her life and career. Does it always land, no, does it land more often than it doesn't, yes, would it have been better received by a an artist that wasn't Madonna yes, so it even works as a meta criticism of the agism she faces, overall an outlier, but important album in her discography and career. Also fun fact the standard album cover is in part an homage to her mother and her sibling even commentated on the striking similarity, which is another theme of this album, death, mortality and aging.
This is one of my favorite Madonna albums ever. Incredible fusions, music, and you get to travel through different sounds, the music videos. I got to watch live Madame X Tour and it was beyond incredible.
I'm typing this comment mid-reaction. I just want to say THANK YOU! Your investment to M's career en discography goes beyond ❤ thanks for the respect. I hope eventually you get to react to the music vids & her tours - 'cause the place where M shines the most is the stage. MX is not my fav Madonna album, but this album really comes alive thru the music videos and the Madame X Tour. If you feel that this album is a sister to American Life, it's because most of the songs are produced with Mirwaïs, the same guy who produced Music & American Life. - K, i'll shut up, finish watching this vid & then go watch the True Blue album reaction. Gurl ur feeding us! ❤❤❤
I discovered your channel just a few days ago and I have enjoyed sooooo much your reactions. Honestly, so far I have seen your reactions to Madonna (my favorite artist of all times and most likely the reason why this channel was suggested to me). So, please, give me time to catch up with your reactions of other artists. I promise I will. I have seen many reactions to Madonna but yours are really the best. It is interesting to me how a young person like you reacts and comments in such mature way. Your ideas and opinions are really interesting. It is difficult to listen to a whole album, no matter who did it. However you do it with the best attitude, and many times you listen to the album over and over again. That is great cause some songs (specially Madonna's), grow on you after a second or third listening. Many people think that Madonna is just mainly a pop dance act, or that she brings controversy to get more publicity, but t is the other way around. Many of her best songs sometimes are kind of hidden in her albums. And she brings controversy to deal with subjects that are important to her. That is why she changed the game in music. Ok, I am about to finish. I just want to recommend that you watch some of her videos, she is a very visual artist, perhaps the most visual singer ever. And her tours!!! Specially The Blonde ambition and her Confessions tours. You won’t regret it. Thank you.❤❤❤
Her boldest body of work since Ray of Light. Definitely not an album for the faint of heart, but once it finally clicks, everything you questioned about it finally makes sense. Seeing this tour live altered my brain chemistry, it was so eclectic & intimate. It was a celebration of art, culture & humanity. I strongly recommend that you watch her 20m TH-cam documentary called “The World of Madame X”. It will answer all of your questions about this album & make you fall in love even deeper ♥️
I remember thinking, gosh, just how brave Madonna is. How beautiful it is she made an album that was not necessarily chasing for radio hits. How interesting world she offered to us to listen to. And just her ability to be ahead. I think this album will be regarded as one of her biggest artistic achievements later on. The songs on this album won’t necessarily work on their own if you only pick one song here and there, so it’s more like an experience best listened as a whole album. The songs make more sense in context with each other. I don’t know, I’ve always kind of felt that way about this album. So happy you gave it a chance.
Love love love love love these reactions I don't want them to end !!!. Personally I was very invested in the madame x album but, after it came out, after about 6 months I couldn't listen any more and I dunno why.
Thank you for being really honest! We tune in to hear your opinion and I absolutely loved how you honestly portrayed your feelings and reaction to something that is truly experimental
@@aldoditoro3139well I don’t love it because I think it’s inspirational it’s the production! It’s a classic Madonna/Mirwais vibe that could’ve been on Music or American life it’s such a standout sonically on the album imo. Inspirational is certainly not what comes to mind for me so I find that a random point to make haha
This was the first Madonna album that I didn’t connect to. It did have some gems on it but overall, I wasn’t thrilled! I do appreciate that she was really exploring her artistic self! That is courageous! Good for her!!! She has earned the right! Long live the queen! ♥️
I’m Breathless Madonna the musician … she composed and crafted songs that literally sound like classic standards from the 1930’s. It’s for the Dick Tracy movie … with songs from but also inspired by the movie. Her song Sooner or Later written for her by the great Stephen Sondheim won the Oscar. And the albums peak finale is Vogue … the song that encapsulates the genre the album is celebrating but in dance form :) You’ll see just how diverse her albums are with this (Madame X) and I’m breathless. A pure concept album. Wish u listened to ciao Bella.. it really should’ve been the last song in the standard Madame x album.
Beth. Loving your Madonna reactions! Atp I wait a whole week just to see your videos. As a hard M fan, Medellín was so difficult to listen to, especially as a lead single. The video really helped me to like it a lot! 7:13 what I love about this album is that the featured artists are not just on the bridge or something. They really have their spotlight. 9:00 the auto tune is kinda a play of her as a spy who shares a message altering her voice to keep her identity covered (you got it! Haha) 12:17 Yes! Madonna doesn't follow conventional song structures on this album. 😂
not my favorite madonna album but some tracks are some of my fav madonna songs i appreciate this album for being artistic creative and risky in complete contrast to rebel heart and mdna which felt very trend chasing and uninspired for the most part imo this album was more like the risk taking outspoken madonna that i love (and some tracks do grow on u over time) I ALSO highly recommend u to watch the god control music video as it makes the song make way more sense
For me, this album is a masterpiece. I love its unapologetic vibe, and I admire when artists do unexpected things. Madonna is my favourite artist of any kind, across all forms of art. ❤
You watched ‘Welcome to the World of Madame X’ which was released prior to the album as a tease. You should watch ‘World of Madame X’ also on her TH-cam page which is 20 mins and explains the songs and gives greater meaning to the album
This is one of my top 3 albums from Madonna. "Crazy" was my love at first listening, I also like "Batuka" and "I rise". I confess that it took me a while to enjoy the whole album, because it is so different from what I was used to listen from her.
I love: Crave, Crazy, Fasgostoso, Medellin and I don't Search. But the album is a mystical and theatrical. God Control and Crave videos are excellent. ❤ Justice for the video CRAVE. ❤❤❤
I love god control for its message and also it helps me let loose and go crazy, sometimes you need chaotic autotune moments sometimes and honestly I don’t dislike her autotune antics I think if rappers can use it all the time then Madonna can actually use it in a better artistic way I’m all for it
I got lucky enough to see the live theatrical show of this album in Brooklyn back in 2019. I was mindblown to see Madonna play at such an intimate venue with her show adapted to that scale but still keeping all the grandeur and artistic vision that we recognise her for ❤
Aaahhh!!! YES! FINALLY!! U DID IT!! i was soooo looking forward to ur reaction and i actually enjoyed it a lot! I think it's her most chaotic and most experimental album to date so it was really fun n interesting to see u react to it n put ur opinion forward. Btw, the album cover is an very artistic nod to Frida Kalo, inspiration of hers, which imo refers to tame, almost talk-y, less belting nature of her vocal delivery, contrary to the belting nature of rebel heart, so she's basically showing us different sides of her artistry. !!! I hope u do the ranking of her entire discography when finishing all her albums, that would be so cool (another Madonna song btw😉)
It took me a while to get the whole point. Believe me, i didn't like Madame X on my first listening sessions. I was like, "WTF, Madonna!" Buuuuut, that's her intention. She wants to make us think. She wants to make us analize the context, contrast our points of view. The duality in this album is one of her best features. So, after some weeks, I couldn't not love this masterpiece. Yep. Madame X is a work of art from beginning to end. It's simply an artistic orgasm. So, I know you'll looooove this album in a near future. Madame X is everything you didn't know you needed.
I'll start to saying that your perspective that this album is the child of Ray of Light and American Life is 100% accurate. I think the constant mistake that Madonna (and other artists) commited over the past decade is making long albums. If you see, the albums with 10-12 tracks are more cohesive and palatable that listening to 15-20 tracks. Anyway, I loved the risk she took from this album, specially after 3 albums that was surfing around the mainstream pop sound at the time. I strongly recommend you to watch the documentary "Madonna - World of Madame X" it is a 23 minutes long experience of the creative process of this album. PS: About Anitta, try to listen her album "Versions of Me" I think is more your style.
I don’t see anything from ROL here. Neither the very tight production, nor the great songwriting nor the great vocal performances. I do more agree of the relationship with American Life, but sadly, many songs follow the overproduction of Mother and Father (that thankfully got the right to shine on tour in 2004) rather than the more beautiful tracks that X-static-process was (those harmonies are nowhere to be found on Madame X).
Curious Fact: She said that Madame X at that time is a sequel to American Life. Like a American Life 2. 😍 For me it's like we have no just this album but everything from all her eras together. Everything that she represents as an artist, singer and performer. This is why is so perfect! (Also she worked with Mirwais again in this album which gives this bring back memories).
choices were made in this album. as a huuge Madonna fan, i first thought that Madonna forgot how to sing. I was really nervous about it. five years later...still no new music, so we need to wait and see. but I saw her last year in concert and yes she can sing, which comforted me. there are some really beautiful songs, i still listen to god control, crazy, killers who are partying or whatever the title is.
Great reaction as always. I was surprised to see you did not like Faz Gostoso, I think that song is the album biggest hit XD My favourite is GOD CONTROL, but the album works as a whole, I like to listen to it in my own order with a couple of edits I made or found. I agree some songs lack production but others are outstanding in that department. I wish she gave us more vocals here and I think she overuses the "mantra" choruses. I prefer REBEL HEART too, I find it more intimate and the pop side is better too.I admire this era and I can enjoy the album but it´s not my favourite by any means.
the horse galloping sound in come alive is made with krakeb (that might be the dutch spelling), instruments representing shackles being removed when slaves became free men.
Hi Beth. Other Madonna samples/callbacks/easter eggs in this album: 1. Dark Ballet quotes Future Lovers song from Confessions, ""I want to tell you about love.." 2. Future quotes Dont Tell Me song from Music, "Don't tell me to stop ... tell the sun not to shine". 3. Crazy quotes Like a Prayer song, which you recognised. 4. I Don't Search samples Vogue finger clicks/production.
I so look forward to your reactions, you're def my comfort YT'er. Ty for bringing so much joy to this world. Studio Albums that are left: Like A Virgin & True Blue. Soundtracks: Who's That Girl, Evita & I'm Breathless. If you decide to watch her videos, I highly suggest to watch in order of release as you will see her evolution & you'll see why she's such an icon.
Five years after this album was realesed, I can say, I didn't connected with. I admire your sensibility. Thanks for every little tough and word. I enjoy your video a lot.
it took me like 4years to really get into Madame X ... and i finally understood it and love it... the film of the Tour is also a great piece of work, very deep and sincere... LOVE this Project
@@BethThereseReacts would be interesting for you to be able to go through a new era as it’s happening and review.

@@swasbalram2147 thank you! i love making them! ♥️

@@endlessness80 I like that theory!!
Yes. Yes. Yes. That's why American Life and Madame X are my top 1 and 2 albums.

@@w-pj8gp Great point, i haven’t listened to mdna/hard candy yet but i have heard it’s not very authentic to her
@@BethThereseReactsThose 2 albums are not bad at all. But if we talk about Madonna's own league, these 2 are not inside her top 5 albums of all the time. Anyways, they're good albums and were very successful around the world.
Her bops are so fun and addictive though. She's a master of pop songs. Would hope she's not ashamed of that.

To be inspired by the gun attacks in clubs and to use the disco as a genre is a genius move. God Control is a beast song.

It's my favorite Album since Ray Of light, honestly the quality of the music is AMAZING on that album

It’s for the Dick Tracy movie … with songs from but also inspired by the movie. Her song Sooner or Later written for her by the great Stephen Sondheim won the Oscar.
And the albums peak finale is Vogue … the song that encapsulates the genre the album is celebrating but in dance form :)
You’ll see just how diverse her albums are with this (Madame X) and I’m breathless. A pure concept album.
Wish u listened to ciao Bella.. it really should’ve been the last song in the standard Madame x album.
agree 🗣
Haha)
12:17 Yes! Madonna doesn't follow conventional song structures on this album. 😂
@@_nidael 😂♥️ not the spy lmaooo
not my favorite madonna album but some tracks are some of my fav madonna songs i appreciate this album for being artistic creative and risky in complete contrast to rebel heart and mdna which felt very trend chasing and uninspired for the most part imo this album was more like the risk taking outspoken madonna that i love (and some tracks do grow on u over time) I ALSO highly recommend u to watch the god control music video as it makes the song make way more sense
For me, this album is a masterpiece. I love its unapologetic vibe, and I admire when artists do unexpected things. Madonna is my favourite artist of any kind, across all forms of art. ❤
@@WaleedBarkasiyeh ♥️
@@crtpitt3722 Some of my favs too!
I love god control for its message and also it helps me let loose and go crazy, sometimes you need chaotic autotune moments sometimes and honestly I don’t dislike her autotune antics I think if rappers can use it all the time then Madonna can actually use it in a better artistic way I’m all for it
@@Peterrdee That’s fair :)
I got lucky enough to see the live theatrical show of this album in Brooklyn back in 2019. I was mindblown to see Madonna play at such an intimate venue with her show adapted to that scale but still keeping all the grandeur and artistic vision that we recognise her for ❤
@@Sergeparadiesvogel That’s so cool!
Love, love, love this album!!!!!
Aaahhh!!! YES! FINALLY!! U DID IT!! i was soooo looking forward to ur reaction and i actually enjoyed it a lot!
@@elijah0208 ♥️♥️♥️
Love your reactions! You must see the videos for the complete experiencie. Thank you!! Greetings from Argentina!

Disfruté mucho tu análisis y objetividad. Eso nutre mucho tu reseña. Te sigo desde hace tiempo. Saludos Reina, desde Uruguay.
Cet album a grandi en moi avec quelques écoutes 🤩
Je l’ai écouté non stop pendant 4 ans avant de passer à autre chose 😁
Les vidéos sont incroyables également.
J’aime beaucoup tes réactions qui sont très objectives.
Merci 🙏🏼

@@ExplainAndSummarize glad she’s still got the vocals lol
Great reaction as always. I was surprised to see you did not like Faz Gostoso, I think that song is the album biggest hit XD My favourite is GOD CONTROL, but the album works as a whole, I like to listen to it in my own order with a couple of edits I made or found. I agree some songs lack production but others are outstanding in that department. I wish she gave us more vocals here and I think she overuses the "mantra" choruses. I prefer REBEL HEART too, I find it more intimate and the pop side is better too.I admire this era and I can enjoy the album but it´s not my favourite by any means.
@@yuanyi89 faz gostoso has grown on me a lot actually! i enjoy it more each listen 😁
Madame X is very much a visual album. The video for God Control especially really shows you the background to the song.
the horse galloping sound in come alive is made with krakeb (that might be the dutch spelling), instruments representing shackles being removed when slaves became free men.
Hi Beth. Other Madonna samples/callbacks/easter eggs in this album:
1. Dark Ballet quotes Future Lovers song from Confessions, ""I want to tell you about love.."
@@aseaofemotions Aw thank you so much 🥺♥️ means so much to hear. Hard Candy & MDNA too if i can stomach them lol 😅😃
Will be so interesting to see what she does next. This is the longest gap she’s had between albums.
@@christopherwalsh3945 fr id be so hype for a new album
@@BethThereseReacts would be interesting for you to be able to go through a new era as it’s happening and review. Supposedly she’s bringing back the celebration tour - greatest hits tour - would be cool for you to go to that! She’s something out of this world live. Always so much production and visual. It’s wild.
Time for I’m Breathless?! 🙏🏼
I'm Breathless is my favorite album, Ever, and I've been reading thru all the comments just to find if someone would make this request. PLEASE!
