    The cinematography in this is gorgeous! You chose a really pretty place to shoot at! It's so colorful!
    Those views into the distance with the haze are so cool!
    Also, foliage is a great test of the optics and cameras lol (they're really damn good, nice and sharp)
    I liked the different effects you implemented with your lenses, like the distorted edges on that one shot you got from the wide angle kind of made me think you were shooting into a puddle for a second haha. Additionally, the macro shots of the bracelet through the magnifier at the end have a particular look on film with the grain between the dark areas. It looks so vibrant!
    And great work with the music!!

    I don't get tired of watching this video over and over. Brilliant cinematography, excellent music. This film have a 90's movie trailer vibes just like your Relic 35mm scan. Very haunting and reminded me of good old time when movies was projected with celluloid. Anyway, the strange-shape object somehow reminded me of a picture from my childhood yellow dinosaur t-shirt with "Koritosaurus vs Tiranosaurus Rex" written on it. Absurd, I know.

    Unbelievable. Stock lens on the K-3? everything looks wicked sharp. Couldn't tell what was beaulieu and what was K-3

      Thanks! Yeah - that lens seems pretty warm without any color correction. Stock on the K-3, re-centered for super16.

      Thank you!! From my limited experience they're great cameras, but they can be a bit fragile now - I would suggest getting a custom battery for it - and I've had to replace my battery grip/base, so powering directly into the camera and skipping the screw-on batteries altogether may not be a bad idea. Also with the viewfinder being what it is, I would suggest sticking to parfocal zooms so you can punch in and focus - it's very difficult to nail focus on the fly on that camera with tiny c-mount primes wide open. If you're looking for an alternative, the K3 is a tank with a big bright viewfinder!

    :35 Still photo for vinyl album back cover, selections listed on the left, production credits to the right, record label logo, address along the bottom on 1-line centered from left to right. Yeah, all the chicks will think I am hella cool when they see the debut album by Michael Ryan Cleland on my Thorens turntable, of course they either ask me to play it or they already put the tonearm on their fave cut. On the Beaulieu - a not-so-great Computar 12.5-75mm lens probably meant for security cameras - in some shots it's paired with a very cheap .45x wide angle adapter meant for 90s video cameras. The K-3 just had its stock Meteor 17-70mm.

    How’d you get the 16mm aspect ratio to full frame with losing resolution?

  • @KeturaSaint-Fleurose

    Thank you for this! What do you mean in the description when you said copped/recentered lens?

    • @anitric2000
      @anitric2000  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Beaulieu is a regular 16mm gate - so that footage was cropped to this aspect ratio.
      The K3 is super16 but the lens mount needed to be replaced as the zoom lens would vignette on one side at the wide end.

    Looks really nice. The colors on the stock and the coral? looks really nice. I've got a Beaulieu I've yet to test due to power issues. Have you had any luck on that end? I wish I knew how to adapt it to v-mount or something, would make it so much easier haha.

    • @anitric2000
      @anitric2000  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I got a new battery on eBay that works really well and lasts for several rolls. It's a brick that plugs into the camera, rather than one that screws into the grip - I had some power issues with the grip itself so it was best to bypass it and go directly into the camera.

    One is jittery and the other one is not so jittery can you tell me which camera produces those micro jitters more?

    • @anitric2000
      @anitric2000  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any camera will do it based on the state of its guts / mechanics. I find that I get more wobble from the R16 than the K3 - which may be because the R16 is older and regular 16 (smaller frame size could make the movement more noticeable). Both cameras have been re-worked / maintained but the K3 being so simple and more recently serviced, it likely performs better as a result.

    • @anitric2000

    did they use the Computar 12.5-75 mm with the aperture 1:1.2 or 1:1.8 ?

  • @DethronerX
    @DethronerX 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Im going to roll a joint just for this video : D
    By the way, how did you get radial blur on the edges on some scenes? Lens or effect on digital?
    Also, your titles are shaky but not along the original gate weave but separately, so was this done on post or did you convert it back to film with titles added digitally first, which can give an extra gate weave

    • @anitric2000
      @anitric2000  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That radial blur is from a super cheap wide angle adapter I put on a c-mount zoom lens meant for security cameras....couldnt see it in the viewfinder but hoped it would be a neat look.
      The titles and their dissolves were shot on film and then composited digitally so the weave is different - still experimenting with this.

    • @DethronerX
      @DethronerX 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@anitric2000 well they both look cool and i wanted to know how. The more stuff we get with experimenting with lenses and filters for those blurs and warping, morphing, the dreamy it is. I also love the distortions on anamorphic lenses on wide shots, halation, even fringing sometimes. On film it all looks beautiful, but as soon as we try to fake on digital, it looks cheap haha

    • @anitric2000
      @anitric2000  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      They're filmed off a 4k monitor onto 16mm (500T I think) to have that "optical" look - these are a tad too soft as the lens wasn't the best choice. First try! A higher contrast B/W might be better.

    • @anitric2000
      @anitric2000  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup all in-camera - I used a C-mount zoom lens made for a security camera and attached an old 1990's .6x wide angle adapter to the front - using that while zoomed in really exaggerated the softness and fringing.
