Doesn’t that just mean her dads name was Thor too? I forget if they changed it in Iceland to just pass on a family name, or if it’s still based upon your father (like Thorsson instead of Thorsdottir if she was a boy)
What?! Are you serious? OMG, that’s amazing!!! I can’t believe that no one in the last 10 hrs has EVER mentioned that. Like literally no one. Not the CrossFit announcers, nor Annie herself. I can’t believe it. How in the world did you ever find this information? Did you find the secret scrolls? Did you study ancient Icelandic in college? Man, this is some breakthrough information, I wouldn’t be surprised if National Geographic calls to interview you.
Thumbs up to all the athletes & also to crossFit for posting the upload. I dont watch crossfit that often so I dont know who is who. So at the beginning until they showed the spelling, I kept thinking that they was saying Thor's daughter. Anyways Thorisdottir is a beast of a athlete! I wish this sport & ninja warrior would have been around when I was growing up, awesome to watch though forsure.
I'm confused on what defines the finish line. Usually with a sled pull it should be defined as getting the sled to a certain position. It appears that they are finished when the athlete crosses the line. Do you just have to cross the line while still holding the sled, or is there another criteria?
@@ianbrewer4843 Yes, but how do you need to cross it? As in, do you still need to be touching the sled (presumably yes)? With both hands? Can you turn around? Can you let your arms fall behind you as you cross? It's just a bit of a mess. As I said, sled pulls are much cleaner if the finish line needs to be crossed by the sled, not the person. That way, it doesn't matter if you choke up on the ropes or put them out in front of you or go backwards or whatever. Just get this load to a certain place. Get your body to a certain place while also touching this thing just has much more wiggle. For an example of this, watch the finish around 12:13. Most of the women keep pushing while bent over with feet back and arms forward until their feet cross the finish line. The woman at 12:13-12:15 gets close enough and then lets the rope go slack as she releases in behind her. This maneuver lets her push/pull the sled 5-10 feet less (maybe not that much, but it would have if she had committed to it). It didn't seem to matter here, but it would be better if this sort of thing go worked out so it didn't end up deciding a close finish at some point.
You kidding me those arnt muscle ups what ?.... the muscle up and then fling back up with taking all the speed with em ... thats not muscle up thats fling up ...
Someone has Bubble gut? Pretty obvious too! Hats off to the athletes, but this is probably right up there with the comp bodybuilders for PED's. Just sayin'...
Why is the form on everything involving rings and bars so horrendously bad? I don't understand why the movement is even included if no one is held to a moderate standard of form.
@@BrianT175 great form = efficiency of movement. not to mention great form = athlete safety. I understand form breaks in certain sections of the games, bodyweight portions not so much. It's hard to appreciate these people's hard work & strength when they have so little control & coordination in the air. Why train 'cross' disciplines and ignore a fundamental of athleticism?
@@Rebecca-br2mw you must be seeing something I’m not. I’m seeing some maximize forward movement at the shoulders and swinging back to gain as much momentum possible in a controlled way. If you’re seeing really bad form they are probably grossly fatigued and give this is a competition and not exercise they are not going to just quit and say they’ve hit failure.
