I used to do that when I was younger too. I called them my self healing days. Took my dad once and learned a lot about him as we traveled. Miss him.

A stealth camp? I had to look twice, I thought I clicked a Steve Wallis video🤣 What you have done with the cot Luke is VERY cool, you have taken the 18 wheeler sleeper and sized it down to fit YOUR truck. In the shots of it, it looks just like a sleeper cab, just smaller.

I have a ford f150 with an extended cab and an extra long bed with a camper shell. I use the back seat of the cab for storage and in the bed I have added a long cot,2 tables, a stove,a propane heater, and a fan to create a simple but comfortable sleeping space. The windows of the camper shell are limo tinted to increase privacy. I call it my mobile man cave lol. At 71, it is a lot easier to climb in the back of the truck than to set up a tent! Plus since there is absolutely nothing added to the outside,it looks like a plain old work truck, which makes it much easier to stealth camp.

Luke I have the same cot, thanks to your review. I drive a F150 and have a cap on the truck bed. I actually have my cot back there and it is awesome. I camp in the Adirondack mountains in the off season and absolutely love it. I have been doing it for a while now and sometimes wake up thinking I’m home. It’s that comfortable!!! I’m a 75 year old female and absolutely love the outdoors. Many of my purchasers

I could share some stories. In 1992 some friends and I did a tour with the Grateful Dead. We took off at the end of May and don’t come home until the end of August. The entire summer was camping out of a VW Vanagon and sleeping in pup tents. That was an experience! Some of the people I met will stick with me until my last days.

New subber. I didn’t realize it at the time, but my family grew up nomads. Dad didn’t like staying anywhere for too long. We often camped out of our station wagon. Sleeping out of it. Eating out of it. We had some trying times to be sure. But we also had some very unique experiences. Dad was all about stopping by the wayside to see something interesting, swim in a creek, have a picnic, have s’mores by a campfire. Once, (this was in the 60’s) we got to some sort of check center set up in the road. A tiny hut with a man inside, who was some sort of military man. He had very explicit instructions for the next six miles of road. No cameras. No stopping. It takes exactly x amount of time to get to the other checkpoint going x mph, which you must drive. If we stopped, didn’t reach the other checkpoint in time, someone would be sent out. If you have an emergency, do not under any circumstances get out. He then did a check of our vehicle. We got back in, he started a timer, and we proceeded forward. The first crazy thing was a boiling river. It was literally boiling with steam coming off it as it wound its way through its course. The next thing is both sides of the road was very forested. Heavy, thick forest. One squared area, the trees were petrified. Another square area, the trees were gorgeous and flourishing. Another squared area, the trees were stumps…the soil was ashy and smoking. It went on like this until we got to the next checkpoint where our vehicle was again inspected to make sure we didn’t have any contraband from the area. We had a lot of crazy experiences on the road. I guess that’s why I enjoy these vlogs so much.

I have slept a few Walmarts in Virginia, Maine, and few other states I don't remember. The Ellsworth Maine Walmart is super freaking big. I went in and talked to mangers to see where I should park and his many days could I stay and would I be safe since I was alone. They were super nice. That Walmart has four sides to it for parking and the entries into store and another in auto section. They also told me not to worry about being safe there entire store inside and out had thousands of cameras and people watching them at all times. This was way before plandemic. It closed at twelve since it was a small place. Lots of people came to that area tho cause its not but seven miles from the coast.

Talking about past friends. Back when I was young I remember going to a Kmart to buy a Matchbox car. I remember thinking it was a long bike ride but it was worth having a new Matchbox. Back home my friend and I started playing with the new cars. First we had two, then there was four, then six and ended with 8. I bought one or two. My at the time friend bought one. He stole the rest. I was a loss for words.

i slept at a Walmart for months...no problems ever... heard some voices near my van on a few occasions ...got buried by a snow plow once... but otherwise no problems...
it was nice to have a store 300 feet away , and a secure lot to sleep in,,, i remember my walmart days with fondness...

I was stealth camping across the country in 2020 and 21... Many Walmart will no longer allow you to Park and sleep... Your setup is great. However I have a 2002 to Chevy S10 pickup with extended cab. I traveled with my dog. I removed the passenger seat and used memory foam mattress topper making a bed where the passenger seat used to be. That was awesome. Worked well for me and when I stopped traveling, I had the seat bolted back into the passenger side. Blessings sent!

I tried to sleep once in a parking garage in Chicago, while my daughter was enjoying a concert but couldn’t sleep from the noise of people getting in and out of their cars. The things you do for your kids, lol. Another great video, Luke. Now, it’s time to watch Susie’s tent video. I want a hard shell taco, now.

FYI, parking at Walmart isn't really stealth. Almost all Walmarts allow overnight parking to campers and truck drivers.

Literally none of the Walmarts in my region allow any sort of overnight parking or camping. Zero

@Nathans_Margarita_Salt if you watch real campers like MAV, ROAMING RECKLESS, and CRAZYQUADY, they do it all the time. Plus, last summer we had a family reunion in Hartford WI and they asked the store manager if they needed something from him to camp there. He responded that they don't need anything and told them that truck drivers do it all the time.

When you said having that crazy old man, walking around singing along with the music on his phone, was about all the social interaction you desire, I almost fell out of my chair laughing because you sound just like me!! By and large, people give me a pain. 😅 I'm thinking of doing the same thing as you, with my SUV. What a great idea!! Great show, Lucas, as usual. And I'm an old timer stealth camper, myself, so I absolutely love stealth camping!!

Hey Luke. I just wanted to tell you I use to work for Taco Bell back in the late 90s. I can tell you from experience, that if you don't eat their tacos almost as soon as you buy them, they go to mush. Because of the type of meat they use, it has a lot of grease and it will soak through a taco shell very fast. When I worked for them, back then we would make up tacos and burritos to stage up for the main line to grab and put in orders. We had about 5 to 7 minutes from the time they were made and staged up to get them out to customers before we had to chunk them because within about 10 minutes the crunch was completely gone.

Nice setup. I have an HHR. I have to use a foam mat and inflatable mat. The cot idea is an awesome idea (as long as you have the space). LOL I'm also experimenting with other ideas. Great job. ✌

Hi Luke…. That was one interesting night…. I liked the cot…. Looked really comfortable. Of course the sound of the rain made it perfect. I felt bad for that guy. I can’t imagine living like that. But I guess there are a lot of people living like that. So sad for a country like ours to have so many people homeless. 😢

I enjoyed the heck out of you and your video, it brought back so many memories of random spur of the moment road trips with inconvenient outcomes, and at one point living full time in my vehicle (not by choice) for a few months. I’ve been woken up by cops, thieves my boss…looking forward to binge watching your channel.
