I have seen great female medics that in 06-09 timeframe did amazing things to save soldiers. Guess my question for support roles vs combat roles, where is the line that is acceptable?
I'm not convinced, there are some women who are stronger than some men. I would suggest that as part of a well trained team, there could be a place for women. But certainly not overweight and clearly angry lesbian who blame the victims, is most definitely not what's required! 😮
Former navy enlisted here: yes it is true, women only have to "symbolically" meet physical standards. Same applies to overweight out of shape senior enlisted such as chiefs.
I was stationed on a US Destroyer that was all male. 1 week before deployment we became an "integrated" crew of 7 females to roughly 250 males. 2 of those females made it through deployment without pregnancy.

OP wasn't "throwing a little fit", that's what YOU are doing.
Right. Many of the Fire fighters have been hired for a position and a job they are not qualified for and are doing the best they can. They were setup to fail in many ways.
I am a female USCG Veteran. My bootcamp was co-ed aside from birthing space. As far as the physical fitness tests we had a certain standard for pushups pull-ups etc… but not swimming running, classroom, firefighting or gun range. If you didn’t pass weekly tests you were held back a week and went into the class behind. If you failed again, you were discharged. This was 1987. I had a TS Clearance and was a Radioman worked in the comms room. However I had to stay up on my qualifications for the range.
I think in 1987 there was a more practical approach to this. Something I've always heard brought up about women in the military is r4pe. You hear less about it now, but I think it's another genuine concern when it comes to women serving. In a combat situation a man is going to know that being captured for a woman represents a different kind of risk, too.
@@drownthepoor Sexual politics is the main reason women and gays have been left out of the military, in addition to women not being a strong as men in combat.

Thank you for sharing your journey - it's inspiring to see someone in your position speak out and help lift the veil for others. Keep questioning, keep learning."
The reason people are bringing up DEI is because that BY DEFINITION means they’re NOT hiring based on merit, they’re hiring based on skin color, sex, gender etc. I agree that the verdict is still out, but this fact cannot be overlooked. At the end of the day this comes down to progressive policies simply being terrible for a thriving society. Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass should resign immediately.

If a guy asks a waitress, "Can I get more coffee, sweetie," that'd be so wholesome, especially if the waitress is like, "My pleasure, hun." I'm so glad I'm in conservative territory. Male ADF combat Vet here. Male only units perform better and have a better survival rate. Regardless our military has intergrated units in the name of DEI etc. Men in combat units have to pass fitness tests basically the same as always, women do not need to pass these tests and have their own specialized tests , example 50 pushups for men, 20 for women.note almost never do they pass this level. NEVER costs them theor position and are never fired / consequenced for their failure. Full pay conferred.
I don't care what opinions Jimmy Kimmel has. He's entitled to whatever views he wants. The problem I have, is when he's trying to be some kind of moral authority knowing his background and the fake tears.

For many of the white men their fathers and uncles were also fire dept. This is the argument used to justify the DEI initiatives. They claim it's nepotism keeping others out. I was arguing with my ex-gf(she moved her from Cali last year) about this. She asked her Latino friend about it, and he mentioned the fathers/sons thing. EVEN HE said "it's not bad because then you end up with great fire/ems teams, but I can see how other people feel it's harder to get into it." Take the NBA, and say we need less black ball players. “Don’t tell the truth at the poker table.” I don’t know Daniel. Sometimes it is very fun to tell someone that they should fold because you have the nuts, they don’t believe you, call you, and then you show the nuts. Their face says it all. I did it down at the casino one day and this dude called me BECAUSE I told him to fold, and he was the first out of the tourney. The secret is to not continue telling the truth. Keep your opponent guessing. Just like how I sometimes play aggressive and sometimes I play passive, sometimes I chase, sometimes I don’t, sometimes i re-raise with nothing but a draw and sometimes I check-fold. It all depends on the player, the odds, and your position. Oh and as a side note, you have always been by far my favorite player. Been watching you since I was 14 years old 21 years ago. Damn! Great Guest. I've been watching dude since I was 12 back in the Day when WSOP first was getting televised after Chris Moneymaker won. Daniel's always been one of my favorites to see.
What a refreshingly normal person Daniel is. Always enjoyed watching him on WSoP way back in the day when I had more free time. Climate change is one of the most annoying topics to talk about/listen to. On the basics the climate always swings drastically over however long period of time. In the ice caps, under kilometers of ice are frozen forests (completely confirmed just not brought up often). So whether we are in some version of an ice age or not or somewhere in-between doesn’t seemed to be universally agreed upon with “the experts.” With all the technology we have now weather cannot be predicted accurate within minutes, hours or days of it happening but you are to believe they are completely accurate knowing climate 100, 200, 500 or a million years ago. Carbon dating (or what ever they use) is highly inaccurate and if you watch some things closely you’ll see them swing things that are in the thousands of years old swing by 5,000+ years. Urban hotspots greatly throw off averages. I could keep rambling on but the general point is humans don’t know much of anything on the grand scheme but have a thirst to have an answer for everything. It’s easy to believe and should be a universal that we do pollute the Earth whether that be emissions, waste that doesn’t break down and so what. Over urbanization messes with land and one of the easiest and most obvious results of this is diversion of water that creates what is perceived worse flooding because it is humans who are harmed and often it is just diverted to hurt a different group of humans much worse than it being spread out but less drastic over a wider area… so on and so forth.
Sea water also ruins the ground though. But I get it, priorities. Salting the earth of your defeated enemies was a punishment that would set them way back, and prevent them from quickly recovering and retaliating at you.
You can't use Salt water for many other reasons than ruining the trucks. You'd need 25,000 Trucks with water to boot, and 200,000 fire fighters to deal with the Palisades and Canyon fire.
Here in Australia we call them Gum trees . In bush fires when the gum trees catch fire , after they burn for awhile the oils in the trees get hot enough to cause the trees to explode making the fires worse . Our bush is predominantly made up of gum trees .
Extremely happy to see that Daniel is speaking our language a bit more now. He is one of the greats and I’ve been watching him for 20+ years. I remember him saying a few wokey things in the past and it was disheartening as he’s always dialled in at the poker table and I couldn’t believe he was missing the mark away from it. If you’ve never seen him in action at the table it is pure art. Even as a neutral you’d enjoy it. Go watch.
If you followed the poker boom that started in the early 2000s, you know who Daniel Negreanu is. One of the best poker players and so cool to see him on here. I'll have to check out his podcast.
Daniel saying hes not good with numbers is the most ridiculous thing I heard. We know youre an expert in statistics being one of the best poker players in the world
I think it’s pretty hypocritical of all these “comedians” and celebrities to play the victim card when they literally joke about people living in Florida and on the east coast getting caught in hurricanes and make fun of people living in Tornado Alley when disaster strikes them, or Southern States when they get snow , hell they even joke 9/11 victims now wtf but when it’s them it’s a tragedy (it is but the hypocrisy of them is unbelievable).
Daniel is one of the kindest poker players I’ve ever dealt to. He was not only professional on the tables, but super generous with his time with fans and competitors alike. Great episode and glad to see him on the show. :)
Im with Phil, no women in combat roles. There is zero benefit and proven liability. It's not a discussion or debate anymore. And life is not fair, like Phil said. The military is not a fuccin play place. It's a place for the best of the best to do the best in the world at what they do
Holy shit Tim Daniel is literally the perfect balance for the show and he's seems up on what's going on he just fits perfectly I just wished he didn't live all the way out in Vegas I would love to see him on the show more at least once a month knowing Daniel he might just catch a flight and come back once a month! I would have gave ten to one odds on any bet that this show would be this good and flow like it did my mind is blown! Now we need Mike the mouth and Phil to come on the show Tim hell we might can get Doug Polk to come on to Daniel could talk to all those guys Tim and probably get them on!
Wide scale mismanagement from the Governor, and the administrators from top to bottom seems to be the reason everything is as bad as it is and God love those people who have lost anything and everything but a part of it is failed DEI policy. How big that element is needs to be measured. People in authority need to be held accountable for the many failures.
In 5th grade (1995), I was threatened with being held back a grade if I didn't start doing my homework, which I saw as busy work for stupid people, because I could ace any test they threw at me. The threat of that humiliation got me doing my homework. When I was in 8th grade (1998), I was very confused when a fellow student was allowed to do a book report on the Berenstein Bears, while I was expected to do a book report on Pride and Prejudice. I wondered why she gets to do a report on a book I read when I was 4, but I had to read this boring ass novel. Found out about the "no child left behind" bullshit, and I was pissed. Still am. If you're too dumb to graduate grade school, you should live with that shame, knowing you're an idiot, rather than being told your special, and getting a high school diploma, and think your stupid understanding of the world is valid. The "self-esteem" movement in the '90s destroyed a generation.
I've watched Negreanu play poker for years. Him and Hellmuth have always been my favorites. This is the first time I've ever heard him talk about politices. I didn't realize how based he was. Was wild seeing him as a guest.
If there was no water in the reservoir s or hydrants . Sprinklers aren’t going to work . Water towers only hold so much so if everyone’s house sprinkled the area the water table would be depleted
so they homeowners can build small emergency reservoirs for their own systems… I know the rain water collection is illegal, but just change that 🤷🏻♂️ also, dedicated fire suppression reservoirs not for general use might be useful… especially when the reservoir nearest the Palisades fire was apparently not even in use.

Something I've always heard brought up about women in the military is r4pe. You hear less about it now, but I think it's another genuine concern when it comes to women serving.
In a combat situation a man is going to know that being captured for a woman represents a different kind of risk, too.
Why is there a birthing space in boot camp?

The LA fire department is understaffed and its because of DEI. They will only hire blacks, Hispanics, women and lgbt. The problem is not enough people who fit that criteria are good enough to pass the entrance exams and fitness tests (even though they have been adjusted down due to affirmative action) a lot do dont survive the academy or quit soon after they enter the job because they were never the right people for the job in the first place. LAFD hire very few white men so they just run short of fire fighters instead.

I don’t know Daniel.

Climate change is one of the most annoying topics to talk about/listen to.
On the basics the climate always swings drastically over however long period of time. In the ice caps, under kilometers of ice are frozen forests (completely confirmed just not brought up often). So whether we are in some version of an ice age or not or somewhere in-between doesn’t seemed to be universally agreed upon with “the experts.”
With all the technology we have now weather cannot be predicted accurate within minutes, hours or days of it happening but you are to believe they are completely accurate knowing climate 100, 200, 500 or a million years ago.
Jimmys sad cuz the evidence on HIM hasn't burned up yet.
I wish more people in the comments were more psyched about DNEGS!! LFG DNEGS!!!
the answer is water trucks. who cares if the sea water ruins the equipment. it's got to be cheaper than 150 B.
Sea water also ruins the ground though. But I get it, priorities.
Salting the earth of your defeated enemies was a punishment that would set them way back, and prevent them from quickly recovering and retaliating at you.
You can’t salt the earth or nothing will grow
You can't use Salt water for many other reasons than ruining the trucks. You'd need 25,000 Trucks with water to boot, and 200,000 fire fighters to deal with the Palisades and Canyon fire.

If there was no water in the reservoir s or hydrants . Sprinklers aren’t going to work . Water towers only hold so much so if everyone’s house sprinkled the area the water table would be depleted
