I actually really needed to hear this When I first got back in the game after a year long break I had quite a bit of quartz(around 960 I think). I tried to look up and figure out what some of the banners for 2022 would be and who I might like. Since the guides I found were confusing to look at, I decided to look up a video on who would probably be in the 2022 banners, lo and behold I found one! He was mostly talking about who you should roll for, rather than just talking about what'll be on the banners and letting you decide. I feel like most of my motivation for saving and rolling for a specific servant was crushed when the ones I was thinking about getting weren't recommended, or weren't too good. Somehow this ended up getting to me and I started thinking that since my current playstyle wasn't very efficient, it was pretty bad. Since I'm a very indecisive person, this ended up giving me rolling shyness, and I was super conflicted about who I should roll for. Do I go with servants that could help me truck through grinding and fights? Or do I go with partners that I think I'll genuinely like? I finally ended up rolling when the Jalter banner came around, since this was one that I know I wanted, and one that I was pretty sure couldn't hurt to have, due to her high attack stat (ended up getting her to NP3 on my first few rolls btw, WOOOO) So while this story was a teensy-bit of rambling the main thing is that I think I will genuinely roll for servants I think I'll like, and I plan on saving up to get my D'eon and Nitonito to at least NP 3 (since I've got basically everything else maxed out, I thought it'd be fun to get one or two servants maxed in everything) Afterwards I plan on saving for whomever else I can think of (ngl, kinda looking forward to saving up for some of the 2-years-away servants we got this year) I'm glad I got to hear this :)
My favorite servant in the entire game is both META and fun as heck, Kintoki Rider is both the 2nd-3rd strongest 4 star in the game and is at the exact same time the coolest and funnest servant to play, sadly, we haven’t gotten an Onigaishima event rerun in nearly 3 years…
There's over 200+ servants in this game. \Going complete meta is a very quick way to burn out the game for you as you'll just be using the same strategy over and over again. Have some fun, mix it up a bit. Maybe even throw in servants at a disadvantage for extra challenge.

When the meta haters say that meta players should be playing what's fun for them and stop being a slave to meta and stop trying to force that anyone should be 3turning stuff when they also act like them💀(except for those who enjoy meta but not thinking that everyone should be using meta you guys are chill)
No one is accusing anyone of being a "meta slave". In fact, meta players are great -- they push the boundaries of what is possible within FGO. But no serious person can deny that gacha game communities are an environment in which adopting "meta strategies" is seen as inherently superior, and that there is a social dimension of pressure that can belittle alternatives. And the idea that people who pressurize and ridicule others who do not adopt meta, and those who say "Play how you wish" are the same is utterly farcical.
I mean look at me, I only roll for summer servants and it got me this far, my dream to get all the summer is real... and I'm a f2p... though I do roll for supports sometimes like tama-chan and castoria cause they waifu

Exactly. Though meta can be fun for some people throughout the whole experience too - the easy way is to play the way you love
I agree 3 turning everything is simply very boring sometimes I try to create farming setups that use a year one servant that I haven't used in a while
It's always fun to extract that potential from those oft-overlooked
The only meta i know is buff the hell out of anything and thing will sort out automatically.
