      Not really the reason they left. The division was for a second reading of a bill, of which the normal procedure for it to be agreed to. At the end, only the Greens and Andrew Wilkie voted no and all other members on the floor voted yes. I'm assuming they were leaving for a Shadow Cabinet meeting and just forgot to leave on time.
      Still bad conduct to brute force your way out and injuring a Parliament staff though.

    Seven Federal Coalition MP’s have apologised for barging through doors of the House of Representatives during a division last night - injuring a female attendant.
    Shadow Ministers Dan Teehan, Angus Taylor and Andrew Hastie were among those who rushed to leave the House - after the Speaker had called for the doors to be locked, which is a breach of Parliamentary rules.
    All those involved apologised when Parliament resumed this morning. How about they be charged with assult? If I did this in my place of work to a female staff member I would loose my job. An appology does not count when they knowningly did the wrong thing and knowingly knew they did it on purpose.

    The speaker is a very discipline person. He commanded to lock the door after the parliment conference began

    Don't advise the doors to be locked when people are still filing in or out you goose.

      That is the parliamentary procedure, the Speaker nominates the time the bells will ring and at the end of that time the doors are locked to prevent departures and arrivals.

  • @greggles_

    The Speaker also should not call for the doors to be locked early. This is why we should have an impartial speaker, not a government puppet.

      The vote was for 1 minute. They decided to leave with seconds to go.

      Greg Stanton, if you want to abolish parliamentary procedures then (1) vote for that at the next election, or (2) go live in a place like Russia.

    Don't like this speaker... he is treating these adults like children...would he have done that if they were labour

    • @TheChewyApple
      @TheChewyApple ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I mean, if you act like children, don’t be surprised when you are treated like one 🤷‍♂️. And I’m sure he would have done exactly the same if it was Labor members involved, as it doesn’t matter which political persuasion they are, hurting a staff member trying to do their job by shoving them into a doorframe shouldn’t be tolerated.

      Eunice, you don't like him because (1) he's not a Tory, (2) he actually respects parliamentary procedures, (3) he calls on LNP politicians to take responsibility for their own actions.

    There is no better image of government ineptitude than a parliamentary worker still wearing a mask.

    The speaker fucked up, this wasn't an issue with the party, the speaker did not follow protocol.

    • @davidhoward4715
      @davidhoward4715 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are lying. The Speaker followed protocol while the LNP cowards did not. Your attitude explains why the "conservatives" are a threat to our democracy.
