the first two movies are absolutely amazing idc what everyone says. they were my childhood and my comfort movies, funny, sad, interesting, i loved them. But the 3rd and the 4th are absolutely horrible i wish i could forget they existed
I was happy that about the point the Welchy made about Johnny not being a good dad and overall not a fun character I love Mavis so frickin much and it always felt like her and Johnny’s relationship was forced and not very well developed especially when it came to Drac and his wife’s relationship (both of them). I watched one TH-camr talk about why they didn’t like Johnny and they made a really good point which was Mavis got two children instead of one her husband and her son and she seems to be the only real responsible parent of the two. The other point was that they just made Johnny into whatever the movies theme needed and didn’t really do any big character arcs which I totally agree with. I wonder if they had made Johnny more of a developed character and not a running gag with no purpose if he would have had more chemistry with Mavis and would be more of a match for her as well as interesting. What do you guys think?
Yeah I liked their relationship in the first movie because Mavis wanted to see the world and Johnny was already a well-traveled free spirit that would have totally supported her but then in the second one they saddle her with a kid and dumb Down Johnny even more and he's hardly in the third one it was really a waste of potential
When Johnny being a bad parent was brought up I also thought about that video. I didn’t remember all the points in it. I’m glad you did it gave me a refresher. The movies really do just use Johnny as a prop instead of an actual character. He had some personality in the first one. He was dumb but also a bit snarky at moments and seemed to have grown into being a bit more mature. For the second movie, I was actually so bummed out that Dennis ended up getting his fangs. The lesson/moral that was built up the entire movie was just thrown out the moment Dennis got his fangs for the sake of a tired Good Guys Beat Up Bad Guys climax. :T
These really do go downhill quick, don't they? The first one is pretty good. The second is ok, but I didn't like how quick they turned Johnny from lovable doofus into a full blown moron, and Dennis turning into a vampire was cheap when the whole point seemed to be about Drac needing to accept him as a human. And then after that, he's not only pointless, he's not even shown to be doing anything vampire again. Drac even hypnotizes him in the fourth one, which he shouldn't be able to do. The thing with Dracula's powers is, I think, vampire traits have changed so drastically over the years and decades and centuries that the term barely refers to a consistent creature any more. It's more of a grab-bag of traits at this point. So, when the film gave him telekinesis I wasn't all that surprised. Answering your question, Adam Sandler refused to come back in the 4th movie because even if he had fun playing Dracula the writers didn´t let him have like a creative voice in the production and it sort of bothered him. And I also hated Griffin´s visible design, it doesn´t even make sense because since his thing is being invisible he should be slender otherwise he would stumble on people often and since he is naked all the time his body should produce more heat in order to not feel cold. I saw someone on Twitter saying that he should look like Matt Bennett and I agree with that.
In the fourth movie, when they were in the crystal cave or whatever it is. When it was Griffin's pov, you can see a decent looking griffin in one of the reflections if you pause it. Not that good looking but it's decent enough for a invisible guy.

Enemies to lovers is one of those relationship tropes that if not done right brings down the whole plot with it. Also the whole thing with the zing really messes up the plot of the third movie. They make it a one time thing and the thought process about it is ... well it's depressing. It damages the whole plot of the third movie and the third movie makes the whole plot with the zing pointless. This is what happens when writers write themselves into corners with ideas like this.

If and when you watch Twilight… I feel you will prefer these movies lmao. But I will say, the first of these movies is actually pretty good. I remember seeing it in theaters when it came out. With many franchises, it’s just a downward spiral. Also, if you’re looking for better Sony movies, I would recommend Mitchells Vs. The Machines. A lot better than what they’ve produced in the mid 2010s
When I went to the cinema for the 3rd one with my cousin I was quite surprised how childish the whole thing was, I did not remember it being targeted at like 6 y/os so much but I must say I genuinely enjoyed the evil song that hypnotized the Kraken, such a good beat :D
Yeah the random dance and rap scenes from the first two films just screams “see we’re hip and cool kids” whereas the Zing is horrible, love at first sight is a dumb and dangerous theme to promote and having children eventually be bonded for life because of t like in the second film is a massively weird and freaky thing it’s even worse because in the first film they mention that a zing only comes once a lifetime therefore that was the main drive and motivation for Drac and the others to venture out and bring Johnny back to mavis yet in the third film Drac zings for a second time with the Captain, so if you can Zing more than once it's not that special and it’s not that important which makes the whole concept stupid. Also to add to that the general consistency among the films is also bad, In the first film Wayne the werewolf eats an entire herd of sheep blocking the road as they head off to bring Johnny back (this would be literally 2-2 and 1/2 year ago in the second films timeline) But in the second film he’s reluctant and incapable of hunting a single deer and says he hasn’t done that in years...i mean, really? I did like the Peter Lore GPS in the second film though, that made me lose it. I like the concept of Van Helsing spending his life and extending his life to hunt down dracula and all monsters, i also like that he’s played by Jim gaffigan but the entire film is by the numbers and predictable the fourth is doghsite and isn’t even worth mentioning the only one who deserves credit is Brian Hull who took over voiciing Dracula from Adam Sandler in film 3 and onward and is such a professional and talented guy he nails it.
I'm kinda disappointed Mavis did not get to explore the world and all that before she got stuck with a baby. Now she has all this responsibility and can't really have fun... She deserved better tbh. Her character had a lot of potential to become more complex and intresting but instead they married her off and gave her a family. And while Johnny can be pretty funny sometimes, he's extremely basic. It's so obvious that he has more chemistry with Drac than he does with Mavis. They don't feel like a real couple. Then there's that thing with him being a shitty dad as well.

I remember going to my grandpas house and my cousin would not stop playing the end song. All night it was playing in the tent we set up, it was atrocious but funny 😂💕
Ok, to be fair, watching these as a kid was golden. Like, as a kid, you never notice what's wrong with the plot, animation, etc., you just enjoy it. Genuinely miss being a kid again

Mavis is so adorable that I simply can't hate the first movie (aside from the ending). Her and Johnny's relationship works really well in that one and Drac is a great protagonist, I just wish they handled the other movies better :(

The first one is legitimately one of my favorite childhood movies, purely because the animation and writing is just so fuckin FUN. The energy in every single shot is just wonderful, and I actually kinda liked how they developed Johnny and Mavis as characters alongside each other. Also, the scene where Drac tells Johnny about his wife still hits me in my feels to this day. And then the next one hit and I felt like I was watching the first movie again, but with a good chunk of the soul cut out (especially because Drac and Johnny had to learn the same lessons over again for some reason).
I will say in Drac’s defense in regards to the second film, it was first time in centuries another descendant in the Dracula bloodline was born after being dormant with Mavis and he wanted to be sure that vampiric bloodline was still in his grandson even if he looked more like a human.

It damages the whole plot of the third movie and the third movie makes the whole plot with the zing pointless. This is what happens when writers write themselves into corners with ideas like this.
The third and fourth movies were garbage

If and when you watch Twilight… I feel you will prefer these movies lmao. But I will say, the first of these movies is actually pretty good. I remember seeing it in theaters when it came out. With many franchises, it’s just a downward spiral.
Also, if you’re looking for better Sony movies, I would recommend Mitchells Vs. The Machines. A lot better than what they’ve produced in the mid 2010s
When I went to the cinema for the 3rd one with my cousin I was quite surprised how childish the whole thing was, I did not remember it being targeted at like 6 y/os so much but I must say I genuinely enjoyed the evil song that hypnotized the Kraken, such a good beat :D

Yeah the random dance and rap scenes from the first two films just screams “see we’re hip and cool kids”
whereas the Zing is horrible, love at first sight is a dumb and dangerous theme to promote and having children eventually be bonded for life because of t like in the second film is a massively weird and freaky thing
it’s even worse because in the first film they mention that a zing only comes once a lifetime therefore that was the main drive and motivation for Drac and the others to venture out and bring Johnny back to mavis
yet in the third film Drac zings for a second time with the Captain, so if you can Zing more than once it's not that special and it’s not that important
which makes the whole concept stupid.
Also to add to that the general consistency among the films is also bad, In the first film Wayne the werewolf eats an entire herd of sheep blocking the road as they head off to bring Johnny back (this would be literally 2-2 and 1/2 year ago in the second films timeline)
But in the second film he’s reluctant and incapable of hunting a single deer and says he hasn’t done that in years...i mean, really?
I did like the Peter Lore GPS in the second film though, that made me lose it.
I like the concept of Van Helsing spending his life and extending his life to hunt down dracula and all monsters, i also like that he’s played by Jim gaffigan
but the entire film is by the numbers and predictable
the fourth is doghsite and isn’t even worth mentioning
the only one who deserves credit is Brian Hull who took over voiciing Dracula from Adam Sandler in film 3 and onward and is such a professional and talented guy he nails it.
A twilight reaction would definitely be amazing.
I'm kinda disappointed Mavis did not get to explore the world and all that before she got stuck with a baby. Now she has all this responsibility and can't really have fun... She deserved better tbh. Her character had a lot of potential to become more complex and intresting but instead they married her off and gave her a family. And while Johnny can be pretty funny sometimes, he's extremely basic. It's so obvious that he has more chemistry with Drac than he does with Mavis. They don't feel like a real couple. Then there's that thing with him being a shitty dad as well.
Every time I watch your videos I ask myself "How can he have only 55k subscribers with such high-quality content?" You are being seriously underestimated by the internet, you deserve 1 million subscribers.

These movies are quite fun, but only if you watch them once. Also PLEASE watch Twilight, you'll have a blast. Very bad very good. Watched them for wolves' 3d models. Interviews also are fun. No one is more unimpressed with this series then its cast!

I liked 1 & 2, the 3rd movie I had mixed feelings about- but I enjoy it for the randomness, I laugh very easily so my standards for animated movies aren’t too high 👍🏻

Mavis is so adorable that I simply can't hate the first movie (aside from the ending). Her and Johnny's relationship works really well in that one and Drac is a great protagonist, I just wish they handled the other movies better :(

The first one is legitimately one of my favorite childhood movies, purely because the animation and writing is just so fuckin FUN. The energy in every single shot is just wonderful, and I actually kinda liked how they developed Johnny and Mavis as characters alongside each other. Also, the scene where Drac tells Johnny about his wife still hits me in my feels to this day.
And then the next one hit and I felt like I was watching the first movie again, but with a good chunk of the soul cut out (especially because Drac and Johnny had to learn the same lessons over again for some reason).
I will say in Drac’s defense in regards to the second film, it was first time in centuries another descendant in the Dracula bloodline was born after being dormant with Mavis and he wanted to be sure that vampiric bloodline was still in his grandson even if he looked more like a human.
