    One thing I love about these- they teach good habits. The first 2 will encourage top control and better wrestling which is my biggest gripe with BJJ (how can you call yourself a combat sport when people just sit down)

    • @willbrooksofficial

      Thanks 🙏🏻 The wrestler in me lives for top control. Sitting down mid battle just doesn’t feel right to me.

      Agreed, and if you land on or get knocked on your ass, you need to learn how to get up and not just scootch around scratching your ass.

    4 stripe white belt here: thanks for showing the north south choke so well. I really liked that you showed the little details. I have never seen the shin breaker before, may be interesting to try tonight. The submission I like to play with in the gi is the loop choke, and in no gi, the Ezekiel, which I'll sometimes try from mount or north south, and sometimes threaten just to get a reaction or force someone to take it seriously while I am working to improve my position. Again, great video, thanks!

    The North South choke was one of the first subs I ever learned and as a 4-stripe blue it's still one of the subs I hit the most. The arm triangle is up there as well.

    4 stripe white belt here, I use the half nelson choke, armbar, and bow and arrow all from technical mount. Haven't really seen too many other white belts playing around with attacks from technical mount, at least in my school! Great video, thanks for sharing and good luck with the new school!

    Thank you for the coaching! I will try some of these at my next mat session. The slow-mo is great- a lot of moves are difficult to demonstrate at not full speed so it’s nice to see the technique as executed at full speed but with the video rolling slow. I also appreciate when professors use phrases like “toward the shoulder you want to attack” it’s much more helpful to visualize than something like “right” or “left” or “the other side”. As a white belt I am particularly fond of straight ankle locks and wrist locks.

    Hi. Really great subs. I'm a tall skinny guy and I started jujitsu one year ago. I use the triangle choke a lot, whether it's from guard, mount or reverse triangle. I won my 1st match at AJP due to a reverse triangle. I practiced it in training a little bit and it works great for me. Other submissions that I use often are the anaconda, d'arce, kimura, guillotine, ezekiel and RNC. Thanks for the video. Great info. Oss!

    White belts need the shin breaker? C’mon man

    • @willbrooksofficial
      @willbrooksofficial  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You don’t have to agree. It’s just a simple and effective submission that’s easy to hit which helps build confidence. Something all white belts definitely could use. At the end of the day, my way isn’t the ONLY way. I’m just showing what I’ve seen to work from my perspective. Having other perspectives on Jiu Jitsu (like yours) is one of the reasons there’s so much depth to it which is great 👍🏼

    Sorry but at .58 I haven't got a clue what you are doing. The video shoots from one seemingly great left arm choke to releasing it. Yes i'm new to this but you totally lost me more than any other youtube channel has. Best wishes and good luck.

      @@mediamayhemmoments my advice for
      you would be to have more patience with yourself. If you’re giving up on a technique when you don’t understand it shown in slow motion, you aren’t going to make it far. You have to be a bit more resilient than that. You said it yourself, you’re NEW so of course moves aren’t going to all make sense right away. Welcome to Jiu Jitsu. Patience and accepting the fact you won’t understand everything needs to be in place. I truly hope you find the mental toughness that helps you fight past feelings of frustration. No participation medals in this art. You EARN your knowledge here.
