    I know this an old video, but I really want to thank you Norman for showing the seed stitch with both odd and even stitches. It really helps to see what something will turn out like.

    I love the fact you go over 'what could go wrong' as well - a gem for a beginner like me. Your visuals are also excellent - perfect colour combination; it allows me to see clearly what you are doing ☺️

      Makes me so happy to hear that. I put a lot of thought into these videos but well... what works in your head sometimes doesn'T work for others, lol!

    Thanks for another great video. I'm a beginner and I want to make a scarf so now I'm learning the seed Stitch. I'm casting on an uneven number which makes it easier because I always start with a knit stitch. Thank you so much for your tutorials they are amazing and so easy to follow. I love how you explain every step.😊

    I decided my first project as a novice knitter was going to be a seed stitch blanket. I watched a few other seed stitch tutorial videos and was practicing a swatch and was frustrated that I kept getting a ribbed pattern. Your video was the first one that explained why this was happening which allowed me to correct what I was doing. Now I am happily knitting away on my blanket, on my sixth row (out of 216!). Thank you!

    Thank you for clarifying the difference between seed stitch and moss stitch. I am looking at stitches to use on a scarf kit. It calls for all knit stitches but I think that is boring. I would like more texture. I think I want to use the moss stitch. Is there a difference in the amount of yarn between seed and moss stitches?

    • @NimbleNeedles
      @NimbleNeedles  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      well, while I didn't do any scientific study on the subject, I would say it's more or less the same. Typically only patterns that contract a lot (like garter stitch, brioche stitch) need more yarn. But most simple knit-purl stitches will typically take about the same. I mean, one will be slightly be more stretchy and this might mean you need 5% more yarn or so due to that fact but...that's nothing you will really notice as you cannot buy half skeins anyway :)

    I absolutely like how you do not use a stark white background for this video tutorial. For some apparent reason, they kinda make my eyes feel uncomfortable, therefore making it difficult for me to comprehend the video. Love your channel! 🥰

    Norman - great video, as always! Question: how do you avoid tension issues in seed stitch (and also ribbing) where this is a bit of a ladder where there is a purl stitch followed by a knit stitch?

    • @NimbleNeedles
      @NimbleNeedles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Welll...my number one tip is - go down a needle size or two! And then it boil down to practise ;-) Certain yarns are also better at hiding tension differences - so if you notice you have some problems, slighly fuzzy yarns will gloss over it :)

    Hey your new subscriber here😄This video was so easy to understand. I have two questions,
    1) is this stitching pattern suitable for men's scarf?
    2) if i do this, will both side of the scarf look similar?
    thank you 😊

    • @NimbleNeedles
      @NimbleNeedles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes and yes. It's actually a exceedingly lovely pattern for a men's scarf and it is utterly reversible. Though a bit tedious to knit maybe (constantly changing between yarn in back & front).

    So, I learned that as moss stitch very many years ago

    • @NimbleNeedles
      @NimbleNeedles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah..that is some confusion here. Typically a seed stitch changes the pattern every row, while a moss stitch changes the pattern after two rows. So.moss stitch is kinda "double seed stitch".

  • @JLZ109
    @JLZ109 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks Norman! I`ve been wondering - is there a nice way to weave in yarn for seed stitch (and other reversible patterns)? I've tried doing it along with some videos here on youtube but the result is never quite as neat as I'd like and it can be pretty obvious...

    I am doing the seed stitch just as you said. My knitting is still curled. Will this come out after I block, or should I just quit knitting?

      Go up one needle size maybe. And it should block away.
