Been running 2, 10 man units of Lychguard with Awakened Dynasty recently. One with a Nether-realm Casket overlord other with Veil of Darkness. Use the casket for mid-board holding and the veil for teleporting into opponent's home objective round 2 or 3 to shut down home scoring. They are very good at staying alive against 1 damage opponent weapons that are likely holding that back objective or aren't being focused on the main threats you brought such as Doomsday Arks, C'tan, or Wraiths. Between the res orb and undying legion strategem, overlords give for free if they don't need to command reroll or hungry void, and they have been quite durable for me.
Imo you should get Fights First when taking the Warscythes. It would make the unit super killy and scary to charge which I think is a good trade off to being very tanky with the shields. You could even make the ability read that attaching a noble with the shield gives you -1 to wound when the strengh is higer than t5 and having a noble with the Warscythes gives you fight first.
Even if they're not in the best place with the current codex, they're still one of my favorite units. The next ten I build will have the warscythes. I don't care if they're bad, they look cool!
I always take 10 with overlord with relocation shroud for extra movement. They are usually my second line when it looks like the wraiths might get wiped out or to come up and support them in melee.
Yeah the lychguard... the "Elite" Noble Guardians.. i use them often as a Home Objective holder with imotekh (CPfarm) in a 5 or maybe 10man (shields). would love to see some changes for them bc there so soft. some ideas from me would be : give them atleast 1 more Wound, 2 feels like they fall to fast to a lot of weapons and they feel more like a basic SM Intercessor which they are not. the Scythe with 1 more attack is way better and dangerous. 2A is like nothing and to get a 10man into melee Combat is quite hard with 5" move and no Advance+Charge. Basically there are many bad Units (AND DETACHMENTS) still in our Codex that get no love.... but before i write like a Book out here i will stop complaining. @Planet40K keep the good work up :)
I like taking Imotekh with Lychguard in Awakened. Sure he lacks the Orb and Shroud, however both extra reanimation and faster advance are available as strategems, that he can pay for with his free CP when needed. Not to mention getting Lychguard into the fray is basically the only way to get any use out of his mortal wound storm.
Pre-codex I was having good luck with the Lychguard, I am more often than not an Awakened Dynasty player and since the Codex have not had good luck with them. I've tried running them with the Overlord w/ Translocation Shroud to get them up to hold an objective in No Man's Land and they generally get overwhelmed by volume of fire and I lose them by turn 2. I have tried keeping them at home, holding my DZ objective - it works for the most part but they are generally ignored and most of the new missions in Pariah Nexus don't reward points for holding the home objective, so you are paying to protect against your opponent scoring their secret mission.
I wish they had system protocols war scythe can advance and charge with shields if they remain stationary they get 3+invulnerable save This would give us a advance and charge unit a reason to take scythes and a bonus to plotting where you drop down a phalanx
i say if you have an immotec as cp farm and you take a unit with him you might as well pay the 10 point more for the lychguard instead of warriors and give him a better chance of survival with 5 guards
Would it be worth it points wise to put an overlord with a 10-man squad and canoptic court and give the infiltrators enhancement to get some early board control in no man's land?
I just love Lynchguard. Love the way the look and when i firat saw them i was like hell yes im honna buy some. Have 10 but whant more 😂 I have to ask something. Are the destoyers in the combat parol useful ? Heard and have read diffrent stuff online. And can i mix Lynchguard in an army with whraits, and leader sugestions ? What leader combine with the overlord from the combat patrol box ? Sorry for all theese questions but totally new to this awsome universe 🥰 Peace from Sweden
Would it make any sense to have a squad of 5 shield and 5 scythes in a 10 man unit? The idea to use the invu saves on the shields as long as smth AP 2+ hits them to preserve tankyness but still have the heavy punch on the scythe side?
Unfortunately you don’t have the option to mix weapons in this unit . It says all models If you look at warriors, that datasheet says any number of models .

I always run Laychguard and put Immotekh in it, they just get things done.
Only need one question, are they awesome? Yes done, add them to your list
Rule of cool protocol activated! :)

Thanks for mentioning my comment! You did great reading the name😂😂 Looking forvard to watch next video💪💪
Btw can you make Lynchguards left handed ?

How are you putting a Cryptek only enhancement on an overlord 🤔
@@Planet40K ah was only thinking that it was necrons model only not cryptek only. Good catch.

Which destroyers?
Mixing lychguard and wraiths in a list is ok, not as a unit if that’s what you meant?
Overlord can go with lychguard as he’s a noble
@@Planet40K I was thinking one unit of 3/6 wraiths with the technomancer and an Overlord with my lynchguards. Thank you for the answer

@Planet40K Thanks! I Never noticed that distinction! I learn everyday with planet 40k! Cheers
Hi 😁
😏
Add a comment...
Royal warden has the nobel keyword, wouldn't bring them with lychguard though
He doesn’t have the noble keyword.
@@Planet40K The Royal Warden was allowed on the royal court but he was not granted the rank of noble ;)
Shit sorry you right, just looked it up
No probs 😀
