Thanks for all of these your helpful videos. I have the 2004 Ford F 350 Super Duty Lariat 6.0 Power Stroke Dually and I have been having it for about seven years now without any issue until recently that I wanted to start it and it does not start just cranking.I have bought the scan gauge but I need help to know how to use it to check if it is the ficm that has gone bad.I hope you will be able to explain this to me.Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.God Bless.
Hey man great video!! Having a FICM issue on my 2006 DT466 7.6 in-line 6 Navistar. They use the same IDM as the 6.0L V8. Would you know how I can go about flashing the FICM to be able to work on my truck. They all come programmed for Ford 6.0 V8
Hello, 05 f350. Have had a couple cases of no starts. One was ipr sensor, fixed problem for a week. Next issue truck had a hesitation with a carbon-like smell and a puff of smoke. truck ran fine for a week, started to stall after start ups after driving a hundred feet or so. got worse, replaced ficm. Week or two later, truck would stall again but starts right up. Had a miss when driving, like a bad injector. Last week, truck kept stalling out at random places, got bad quick and eventually would not start except after excessive cranking and pressing fuel pedal. Mechanic is stumped now because everything checks out fine. Tried pcm swap, ran better when warm, but no start next day. Now it sits. Truck has had everything replaced since owning for 5 years. EGR is deleted, new injectors (although one was replaced for being defective) New fuel filters, new HPOP, icp? valve?head gasket with stud kit, Plus I am forgetting stuff I am sure. Please help!
Judging by that coolant residue I'd say that truck is about due for a Cummins Swap. lol jk. Love the videos. I am a Ford guy. I tend to have a special kind of respect for Fords, without Ford I wouldn't have my mechanical experience. I have a 82 F150 that I swapped in a 4 cylinder Cummins into. Thank's for the videos.
04 f350 6.0 and out of nowhere would not start wouldnt crank brand new batteries. I checked all connections still no start im new to diesels but I ended up needing to use screwdriver at the starter solenoid to start it to get truck home what could be the source of issue next day has started fine im confused
I started her up today, it was a little cold. Idle poorly and took a while to warm up. Then the check engine light came on with p0276. Auto store said FICM. They say injector #6 is low voltage. Should I take it as bad FICM and buy it and dont investigate anymore?!? Anybody know anything more on this injector low voltage?!?
I've got a question for ya. I have 2007 f250 with the 6.0 liter and I'm getting around 1.7 volts to the fuel pump with the key and everything off but I get 12 to 11 volts with key on engine off, is that normal?
im wondering if this is same problem im having on my late 04 6.0 its my icp i have to pull plug out or she wont start i have to keep rpm up to 1500 or she stalls changed pig tail on icp same problem no power pulling my 11k trailer up hill
Ficm voltage is straight 0 when cranking. Got a new ficm and still the same thing. My IPR % ICP volts and ICP PSI are normal. What would be the next step in the troubleshooting chain?
Please help! I have a 07 ford f350 and when I turn the key to start the whole dash starts spasming and freaking out. Even after I pull the key back out it still keeps clicking for like 10 seconds. Please let me know what might be going on
Is there a system in 2005 ford excursion 6.0 diesel powerstroke that when the charge in batteries goes low enough the starter wont even try to crank and the relay just click click click
FordTechMakuloco Just read up on how to repair the power supply. 8 caps and re-solder a couple of surface mount resisters. My supra had this problem (models before mine) and the filled the Ignitor module with a dielectric gel. Cool stuff.
FordTechMakuloco Thanks for the response, so what could possibly be wrong that the truck cranks but does not start. Like I said I have been having the truck for about seven years now and I never had any issue with it until recently that I wanted to start it and it was just cranking. it is doing exactly what this truck is doing here.
There are many many items from a stuck open egr to, Sync, or Ficm sync, or Icp not above 500, icp biased, ipr stuck open, stc fitting blown out, roller lifter need bearing stuck in the main oil pump regulator and the list goes on. These are all common issues on this truck.
2004 Ford f350 6.0. Just had 2 injectors and fuel pump replaced last week. Two days later I was fixing to leave for work and the truck died. No crank after that other than vacuum pump. The repair man came to my house and checked all the fuses and relays. He thought it might be the PCM. He brought a PCM from another truck and it started but no throttle. So he ordered another PCM from ford matched to VIN, that did not work. He ordered a second thinking maybe it was not programed properly. Still no start. We hooked up PCM from a 2006 and it started but its not matched. He also checked the alarm system and it was not that. Any help would greatly be appreciated. My repair guy and 2 guys at the Ford House are stumped.
I just figuired my 6.0L out.... KnN filter oil from cleaning the air filter got on the mass air sensor betwwen the turbo and air filter.... brake cleaned it and runs again... took me a month to figuire it out. Did ya clean or replace your air filter
Ever see the logic board fail? All pin point test, air test, Ficm power board, IPR, Icp, cam all changed or pass. Motor starts run till 180degrees then stalls? Fuel pressure 70, buzz test good no codes…. Once stalls will fire then acts like the key is turned off?? Anyone got an idea
No start for me, but FICM main power is actually at 0. Fuses all look good, relay replaced. I replaced the power supply on the FICM as well. Ground issue? It will crank, but not even try to start.

This guy on Facebook marketplace says he has a Duramax that runs for 10 minutes then sounds like it’s starving for fuel, he thinks it could be the FICM. Let me know your input
my 6.0 has egr delete and and head studs but I sometimes still get coolant puke out of the cap? and my parking lights/ dash lights won't work. signals and brakes work.
Aaron mine does it too.... if the cap is off while running and coolant come out like a volcano from compression thats bad. But likely just a shitty cap... change it.
+FordTechMakuloco Can my FICM be bad but the truck will still start? Have a ficm code and all injector low voltage codes but the truck will still run but wont build any rpm or boost.
FBI if the truck is from anywhere near the oil fields.... emergency shut off valves sometimes stick closed.... remove the intake hose elbow from the upper cac tube and 4 8mm bolts that hold the elbow to the intake... check if there is a valve.... touch it with a screw driver or something to see if it opens easily... or if it doesnt have a valve there.... at least ya checked. Ive seen the valves stick after years n years of turbo oil blow by makes it dirty
6.0L fast crank no start.... by maverickracer5 .. Does a video on this oilfield emergency shut off valve. If there's a bad gas leak out in the oil fields a diesel will run n run on even with the key off. So they install these cut out valves on all trucks close to the rigs
Ernie Desjardins hey man, thanks for the help, I actually got it going. Wasn’t building oil pressure due to a stuck IPR valve. Not sure why it would sound like no compression but it’s back working. I’m sure your comment will help somebody
On my 04 f250 6.0 it was cranking with injector cycle and fuel pump working with no start. Now starter does not turn, no injector cycle and fuel pump not working. i can jump the starter and it turns. Any ideas?
I have 2006 6.0l starts and runs but misfiring on cylinder six only setting a p0276 code the injector 6 and where replaced. Could a fcim cause only one cylinder to miss
I was told that FICM was my problem for p0276 low voltage to injector #6!!! Did you figure out your problem because I have the same problem you do now.... lmk pls
Kurt Gray i run 5w40 rotella t6 up here in canada... -25c it starts perfect... put 2 new batteries in. Pick the highest cold cranking amps you can get... my batteries are 850 cold cranking amps.... start with that. Also the oil really helps.... and 6.4L starter turns much faster which also made a big big help. In twenty years tuckin ive learned batteries are a big deal in the colder weather
Anybody have thoughts on a 06 6.0 that is really angry starting below 30 degrees f? All my readings are good except after a cold start below 30 I get p0284-60 dor cylinder 8 after a few warm drive cycles the code disappears or does not come back. Switched to 5w40 t6, changed fuel filters, and added the blue spring. Starts a little better but still seems angry on a cold morning. By angry I mean loping after start and just really rough idle for the first 60 seconds or so.
I just bought a truck drove a few miles shut it off and when I went to start it would just crank. Let it sit a few hours and noticed when I turned the key I didn’t hear the spool valves and still wouldn’t start. New ficm was installed last October (9 months) could it be bad? What else could I check.
so I got a diesel technician that checked my oil pressure and told me it was my IPR if not ficm because pressure was only at 27 and I disconnected the ICP still no start and has just gotten a new HPOP changed camshaft sensor if you could help 3 mechanics are stumped and I need my truck fixed for hauling my cattle trailers the truck before it died and didn't start left me stranded one time and when the engine cooled down it turned on ran a few days and than again running the truck maybe two hours it died on me but started again and in maybe 2000 feet died and hasn't started since any help would be appreciated I'm stumped and so are my 3 mechanics

Whole wire harness?
Relay potentially, only other thing I hear besides maybe yeah the wiring harness
So if the ficm main voltage drops below 48 when cranking that means a bad ficm?

So is it the actual DC/DC converter failing or something else in the FICM? I used to do a lot of 48VDC work and curious.
They are saying the dc/dc converter is failing mainly from the inductive heating strategy and when you rebuild them you only replace the converter.

curious what kind of software do you use and pc, laptop, tablet? Is it Ford issued equipment? Is it available for general use?
Yes it is the Ford IDS system that we have to use and subscribe to at the dealers. They do offer it to the public but very expensive stuff.
Some after footage would have been nice.
