How to open the bonnet on a Skoda with a broken cable bonnet release
Got a broken bonnet release on a Skoda Superb 2008 to 2015? Here is the solution that the Skoda Main Dealers will not tell you.
I called 3 different Skoda dealerships asking for guidance as to how I could open my Skoda Superb bonnet when the cable snapped. The only one that offered any advice gave wrong advice by telling me to take the bottom pan off that is under the engine bay which proved impossible to do.
This solution to opening the Skoda Superb bonnet with a broken cable took about 10 minutes. All the Skoda Superb main dealers wanted me to take the Skoda into them so that they could charge the best part of £100 per hour including VAT.

Thanks so much for posting this. I have a 2014 Skoda Superb estate. My bonnet release lever was stiff and after I opened the bonnet it wouldnt close. The release cable was intact but jammed in an open position preventing the bonnet from fully latching closed. Your video was very useful in showing me how to access the cable. In my case, with the bonnet open, I just had to take out the 3 retaining clips and lift the plastic cover. I could then manipulate the cable from above myself. I sorted it in 15 minutes after watching your video. I have photos of this if anyone needs them. Many thanks for this.

Hi Paul, glad you got your Skoda Superb bonnet release sorted. I made the video because Skoda were so reluctant to give any advice, one even gave misleading advice telling me to remove the cover underneath the engine bay, which obviously, was no use atall. It is appalling how some garages charge so much for so little. Judging by the number of views on this video, many Skoda owners are experiencing the same problem.

Hi this video is great but I have found that the bottom grille is hold up by two screws on each side and and few clip ons. Thank you for your video!!!

This is a great and helpful video. Shame it didn't help me. I think.i need a new latch as it is a bit stiff to operate. I couldn't pill it for the life of me. What helped on the end one person was pushing the hood down while I was trying to operate the handle. After disassembly the cable close to the latch was a bit stuck. WD40 made it free and operate properly. I think replacing the cable and the latch will be due soon.

Good job mate,, I have a 2017 octavia,, my bonnet is locked now I've tryd to gain access through the lower grill but with no luck,, its diffident to the superb,, my latch is sitting in a bit of plastic I can get to ,, it's going into skoda tomorrow

I'm sure this video means well but it is nigh on impossible to locate the catch blind like the video shows. You just can't see it and you'd need to be very lucky!
I tried this method but gave up pretty quickly and took the wheel and wheel arch lining of and was able to locate the cable from there.

hi my car octavia mk3 battery flat i manage to open door manually but passenger door is not open and bonnet lever is under the passenger door may i know how to open bonnet to charge battery?

I think you can get a battery charger that charges through you cigarette lighter to at least get your central locking to work
