Dam Jeff! You sure don't let any grass grow under your feet! You get around my Brother! Your in my back yard now! Awesome video as always! Thanks for sharing!........ Oh And yes I saw the 3D Video also! Nice job! 😎👍⚓
Capt Rick! Hey amigo! The market is starting to shift a bit, there are a handful of boats becoming available. Glad you liked the 360. For people who really want to learn a boat by viewing, that is a great platform.
It's awesome to finally see a walkthrough of a US '40. Something i have my eye on for retirement in 2yrs. Just wondering how this layout compares in your experience to the 39CP and the new '41 for single handing and as a " starter " trawler. Thanks Jeff for the thorough walkthrough.
Could you just install a 15kw motor where the wing engine used to be? Use the Genset as a get me home engine that way? There should be everything for a shaft to be installed right?
Marti: The wing shaft was removed and the cutlass bearing tube sealed. You could install another wing engine. Most Power Take Offs require the drive off of the existing generator (which may not be large enough in this case) to ratchet on to the main shaft.
Thanks for the videos! Just a recommendation: myself and many others like the 1st person walkthrough style tours like Nick does on Aquaholic. It helps watchers get a better feel for the flow and layout and lets us feel like we are really on the boat! This is not to take anything away from your current videos because they are great but perhaps this is something you could experiment with.
Tyler: Thank you. I think Nick is awesome and is really good. This is an important marketing tool for JMYS and I appreciate your suggestion and encouragement.
Another enjoyable and informative tour Jeff, but I still have my sights set on a similar yacht to "paradise found", she would be a perfect yacht for my needs.
John: Thank you for your note. You seem to have a longing for a Nordhavn - good thinking. Paradise Found is a 60 - four times more money, but a very impressive trawler.
@@JeffMerrillYachts from what I have seen and heard about these "Tanks of the seas", Jeff you really do get what you pay for with nordhavn. I would say that I have been "influenced" a great deal by your video descriptions, tours and off shore teaching video's into probably making a future purchase of either a nordhavn or an outer reef yacht Jeff.
@@johningham4942 Thank you John. It is important to do your research and the internet can provide a great education. With an 18' and change air draft (mast and paravanes lowered) this would be a loop capable boat, although the 5'2" draft is borderline in many areas. However, what's the "wingspan" with the paravanes deployed? My first guess is about 40' or so. I like the price tag, although I'd like it better if I had the $$ to buy it LOL If I could, the major things I'd want to do would be to get the diesel furnace working, re-install the wing engine, add a shore power converter (for international use), fuel water separators between the mains and day tank and maybe upgrade the house batteries to LiFePo4.
Michigan: I don't know the actual pole tip to pole tip "wing span". Beam is 14'6" and the outriggers extend with an upward angle, but under 40' seems right. Good thing is you could buy it and not have to do anything. As you get more familiar you could start taking on improvement projects...or, just keep cruising. Thanks for your note.
@A Law True, but you still have to haul the things in, horse them around to hook up and (eventually) haul them out for replacement. I'd rather add FIXED weight for ballast and keep movable items as light as possible.
@A Law If I _never_ have to refill a battery with distilled water, it will be too soon. To me that is one of the biggest drawbacks to any of the lead-acid variants, or even liquid filled Ni-Cads that are available. One place I worked built chargers for F-16 starter batteries, water filled NiCads. Those batteries were a ROYAL PITA to keep and maintain even in a shop environment. I'll freely admit that may indeed be coloring my perception of deep cycle batteries.
Love the way the way the 40 is layed out the new 41 i dont like the way its layed out. I would rather see the pilot house more sepparate from the rest of the boat , i like a quiet office
Dan: A raised pilothouse has many advantages. I hear the 41 is selling well and very popular, more proof that PAE Nordhavn has a great design team and that they appeal to a broad base of boaters

@@minnehonk1 The people who ordered the boat didn't have a choice. The sellers are the third owners. They stopped trying to fix the wing engine after spending thousands of dollars, which turned out to be a smart move since the engine was problematic internally. Instead of installing a new wing engine that they knew they wouldn't use in coastal cruising, they spent money elsewhere. Many of the components - shaft, propeller, etc. are included if someone wanted to add a wing engine. When you own the boat, you get to make those decisions.
