This happened with one of my cousins! Sorta, anyway. Disappeared in the middle of the day and turned up 2 and a half years later. Police didn't really care too much since she was over 18 and just assumed she'd left. Someone found her, alive and well, not knowing who she was, at a random camp site and got talking to her, and inadvertently convinced her to go back home. All she ever really says about it is that she went for a walk and ended up walking far enough that she just figured she'd keep walking and make her own 'natural' way in life. Undiagnosed mental issues etc, everyone acted like nothing happened after so its pretty weird. Never really got any coverage so its just a weird family story

@@MercuryLeo555 You'd be surprised how common it is not to check. Like Eleanor said, it was Friday night and people tend to assume a million things before they think "a person needs my help right now." I doubt any woman would invite in a strange man after dark when she's home alone and nervous. He must've made that up to make manslaughter seem more probable. I think he followed her in when she got home and attacked her immediately.
I think he's in the thumbnail because he was greatly affected by this case. He was basically harassed and accused of being a murderer just because he was a little odd. So, his part in this story is very important. I feel so bad for him. The media can be very terrible when it comes to targeting innocent people because they might be a little different.
Actually I thought it was quite clever of her to put him in the thumbnail. Everyone saw it and assumed he was the murderer, before watching the video. Just as when they put his picture in the papers. If anything Eleanor's video taught me not to judge before hearing every detail, it was wrong of me to assume his guilt just based off of that alone. Eleanor is a clever girl and I'm sure that was her intention, not to just use him as clickbait. She's a popular youtuber, she doesn't need clickbait to attract an audience.

The land lord dude probably shouldn’t be in the thumbnail. He got enough rubbish from the media and generally your thumbnails show the victims and Murderers
Just thought I say that the landlord may have been in the thumbnail because everyone thought he was the murder and a lot of people probably associated the landlord with this case. 🤔
I think that the Christopher Jeffries element of this case is actually a really crucial part of it though, and because this case was so famous in the U.K. everybody here who even remotely knows this case recognises his face (probably more than Joanna’s face unfortunately) and that he was innocent. I understand what you’re saying but this always isn’t the case with Eleanor’s thumbnails, and I don’t think that it was done for clickbait or to set up false assumptions - I think she did it just because it makes this case even more interesting and there’s a lesson to be learned from it
Agreed should not be in the thumbnail. I am a foreigner. Didn't know anything about this case. It was on the recommendation list few weeks ago.. I saw the thumbnail and thought that landlord is a murderer. luckily, finally found some time to watch this video tonight and realised he is just an innocent man. I feel sorry how the police and media treated him.
When I saw his pic, he reminded me of the guy translating for the Mc Cans when Maddie went missing. Then she said he had kiddy pics......Weird!! Maybe he's his doppelganger and the guy in the Maddie case did actually take her. Wayyy off on a tangent, but that thought crossed my mind 🤔🧐
@@JoJo-xz2px noo that man was just being helpful he was innocent trying to help just like everyone else in Portugal at that time. He done a better on than police
One thing that really bothers me in this case is why do you let your friends/coworkers walk home at night by themselves in a new area. It’s common sense
Honestly I know what you mean but whose to say the coworker you're giving a ride to won't be the reason you never make it home, it sucks because you just want to help and make sure the person is safe but you never really know who you're helping out
Same, I'm definitely paranoid that one day someone that I know might be killed, and because of my social awkwardness, I might be accused and police and media might start harassing me when all I want is to live my normal life reading books, taking care of my cats, and interacting with the few friends I am comfortable talking to.
I’m actually scared of quite the opposite That’s someone Ik gets killed or disappeared but like I am extroverted and sometimes I do get a bit physical (not like punching but lightly pushing while in conversation like in “Oml nooooo *smol shove’ ur kiddding” ) and sometimes I do say “Oml ima kill her” but I don’t rly mean it like when u get really mad at a friend and you don’t rly know any other way to express it

Saw recent documentary on the case, he's cut his hair v v short & dyed it brown. So he looks nothing like the thumbnail now. I think he said his friends thought it wise as they said his image made him a suspect & he'd be forever linked to that picture otherwise.
Perhaps you can view it like this: the murderer is a nobody, he'll never be out or prison and he can rot there. The landlord was another victim in this case, obviously not the same way as Joanna but he has to live forever probably with PTSD becoz of what other people did to him. When u think of his name, maybe you can just send him good thoughts and hope he is doing okay.
Greg's brother was my teacher and I heard the last name and it started to connect in my head, I knew his brother's girlfriend had died but I was never told about the murder. This is the first case that I've had any kind of connection to and it makes it feel more real and upsetting.

Hey Eleanor! I'm from Mexico and there's this extremely well known case that I actually remember hearing about in school and thinking it was an urban legend This is the case of Paulette Gebara Farah who (to sum everything up) was reported missing one day by her parents and found after about a week STUCK ON THE SIDE OF HER BED The weirdest part is that police searched the house and people were in and out of that room, not to mention no one reported any sort of smell even though there was a FREAKING DEAD BODY IN THE HOUSE I don't think you'll actually read this but if you do... I really hope I didn't waste your time with this PS: If you need any sort of help with translation you can totally ask me for help and I'll translate the articles if you want Edit: I really think this little girl deserves more of a platform... It's been forgotten over the years
That case is so desperately sad, poor girl. I've watched another TH-camr cover it. The actual footage of finding her is so disturbing, it all makes no sense.

I know it isn't important but I just wanted to say that hearing you shout out a charity for people with OCD made me smile because I myself am diagnosed with the disorder and people don't take me seriously. So thank you for spreading awareness, it really means a lot.
I feel so sorry for Christopher. As someone that is quiet, shy, anxious, single and keeps themselves to themselves, I hope that nothing like this ever happens around were I live. They thought he was a murderer just because he wasn't considered "normal". Remember everyone: "just be yourself... no, not like that".
The landlord sounds like a really interesting and intelligent guy, yes he's older, but he's also educated and his own person. Everything screams innocent to me. I'm only 30 mins in and may edit this. This Tabak/Tarak person got my attention the first day when he sent his girlfriend over to dig out info.. EDIT: Knew it!!!
You have to remember that this story is being told with only the people relevant to the case while when the police are investigating, it could have been anyone. Initially (like in the first minute of the story) I thought it could have been the boyfriend and him going to Sheffield was just him creating an alibi for himself, as if I ever wanted to commit a crime (not that I do) making sure I have an alibi is one of the first things I would plan. And neighbours coming out to investigate is fairly common as far as I know, as once there was a car racing down my street that hit the next door neighbours car, knocking the side mirror off while being chased by a police car. The noise caused me, my sister, and 3 of the neighbours to come outside and discuss what happened.
Lisa Henry Absolutely. Ones personal feelings about a potential suspect should have no bearing on the direction of the case or how you investigate it. Hindsight is 2020 after all. I'm just speaking on top of the procedure, you get a 'feeling' about certain people. Detectives hunch. But I agree, it shouldn't change anything about the investigation.
At the time the boyfriend Greg was suspected by the public and forums online suspected him as his story of leaving in the snow and not hearing back from her & not reporting Howe missing until Sunday night seemed like too much time had gone by for a concerned boyfriend! Usually murders are committed by those known to the victim of course so not surprising but it was a very strange case with the missing pizza all over the newspapers that Christmas time . Shame- the parents were so shaken.
UK: a 25 year old is missing the don't need to wait 24 hrs because their family reports them missing US: a 25 yr old goes missing , family reports them, she has a standing abuse allegation against expartner, police says "she is an adult, she could have ran away" family: her stuff is here police: "maybe she wants to disappear, we have to wait before making an investigation". anyone who's seen enough of this, knows its true, sad and true
@@Limptastical No they don't have to wait 24 hours, but the speed of them investigating depends on a number of things like, age, if they have mental health, elderly.
There’s no real 24 hour wait period in the States, either. Cops just say that to try to filter out the cases so they don’t have to go tracking people down. It’s like when a minor is missing and they’ll be like “Well s/he probably just ran away” WTF dude you still have to _find them_

That poor landlord. Feel as if it's wrong to have him in the thumbnail. He literally did nothing wrong.
its so people can recognise the case as he was a big part of it
Agreed it's not fair.
If I was the landlord, I would have sued the shit out of the media networks and the police department!

I agree. I assumed it was him before the video started...until she mentioned Vincent
I think that the Christopher Jeffries element of this case is actually a really crucial part of it though, and because this case was so famous in the U.K. everybody here who even remotely knows this case recognises his face (probably more than Joanna’s face unfortunately) and that he was innocent. I understand what you’re saying but this always isn’t the case with Eleanor’s thumbnails, and I don’t think that it was done for clickbait or to set up false assumptions - I think she did it just because it makes this case even more interesting and there’s a lesson to be learned from it
He was a victim tho
Agreed should not be in the thumbnail. I am a foreigner. Didn't know anything about this case. It was on the recommendation list few weeks ago.. I saw the thumbnail and thought that landlord is a murderer. luckily, finally found some time to watch this video tonight and realised he is just an innocent man. I was suspicious of Vincent as soon as he was introduced

Saw recent documentary on the case, he's cut his hair v v short & dyed it brown. So he looks nothing like the thumbnail now. I think he said his friends thought it wise as they said his image made him a suspect & he'd be forever linked to that picture otherwise.
I think his face is in the thumbnail as another victim
Perhaps you can view it like this: the murderer is a nobody, he'll never be out or prison and he can rot there. The landlord was another victim in this case, obviously not the same way as Joanna but he has to live forever probably with PTSD becoz of what other people did to him. When u think of his name, maybe you can just send him good thoughts and hope he is doing okay.

Yeates bought a pizza as she walked home on the night she vanished. The receipt was found at her flat but not the pizza nor its box. She had not eaten it.
The explanation: Tabak admits that he ate pizza on the evening he killed Yeates but denies it was hers. He claims he took the pizza and its box from her flat after killing Yeates and dumped it in a municipal bin. The prosecution suggested Tabak had eaten it.
The two bottles of cider
Yeates also bought two bottles of cider on her way home. This led to speculation she had bought one for her and one for a guest she was expecting.
The explanation: CCTV footage of Yeates in the off-licence was shown in court. She picked up one bottle of cider, stepped away, then returned and grabbed a second, suggesting it had been a spontaneous purchase and was for her. According to the defence, Yeates opened one of the bottles and may have taken a sip from it before she was killed.
When Yeates's boyfriend, Greg Reardon, returned home on Sunday evening he says he found the opened bottle and finished the drink. Tabak claims Yeates offered him a drink but he refused as he was driving later to pick up his girlfriend.
The sock
When Yeates's body was found one of her socks (in fact, one of Reardon's socks she had borrowed) was missing. One theory was that the killer had kept it as a trophy.
The explanation: Tabak claims the sock fell off in Yeates's flat and that after he moved the body to his home he went back to her flat, took the sock and put it in a municipal bin.

For real. I got the feels the neighbour guy did it as he didnt speak much or do anything only Tania did. That gave me feels.
It’s always the person that says they don’t know what happened or didn’t know the person hahaha. Classic “ I don’t remember”
“He basically said what I said but in more posh words.”

Too many unsolved. I can only watch solved cases, the thought that a monster is walking freely and hasn't faced the justice they deserve makes me crazy.
kendall rae does a good amount of unsolved cases!
The Atlanta child murders has been solved and the killer is in prison.
That poor old man was just living his best life.
This just shows how easy a innocent person can be accused of a crazy thing , media are like Vultures
I mean, the reason there could be no bruising could be from how cold the snow is. Putting ice or cold water soak rag on a forming bruise can stop it from getting too dark, that could be what happened here

Me: that pizza is gonna solve this case.
Yea I'm like a pizza will kill ya but not that fast so pizza boy comes to mind. So I've canceled takeout....
I LOVED YOUR CHARITY SHOUTOUT!! i have severe OCD and have been hospitalized for it and it means so much to me that you shouted them out!! i do live in the US but that still means so so sooooo much to me! love you Eleanor! i will definitely continue supporting you (if i wouldn’t have already lol)!
"Vincent was standing far while Tania went to ask what happened" there you have your killer
anyone else a lil worried about Eleanor? She doesn't seem her usual self in this video..idk maybe it's just me. I hope she's okay
I got the exact same impression. I believe she's been ill, so she might be a bit drained from the illness
I agree I hope she’s not over working herself
@@queermilkshake9990 i hope she knows she can tell us anything and we'll still be here for her
she did say on twitter she had done this video over like 3 times fkfk that’s probably just it!
I thought this too i hope she’s not over-working herself!🥺
I was just rewatching this when I started thinking, maybe Joanna bought the oven bake pizza and the Two bottles of cider for Greg. Maybe she bought those things so that the two of them could enjoy a dinner together when Greg came back.
I saw on google she invited him over for drinks
@Yuyugen Rose Idk, it was a few months ago when I commented it. I forgot about it
that would make sense but they didn't know each other...
I am officially satisfied and feel like my existence has meaning.
Sis got a new camera? It looks great, full HD Ellie
Also, RIP to poor Joanna..
The media absolutely disgusted me in this case “ JO SUSPECT IS PEEPING TOM” seriously ?! I just wow

I was just thinking.. I need some Eleanor Neale true crime today! Thank you for everything you do ❤
I really like how you include stuff about the trials in most of your true crime videos, i find it to be the most interesting part. Also love how you started adding more pictures it helps me picture what’s happening love your content!!❤️
I’m from Bristol- I remember this so well and it being announced on Christmas Day they had found the body. So so sad. Feel so bad for Chris that was accused.
I’m so thankful you’re back with another video, you brighten up my life. You truly are one of the best people on this earth 💕🤟
I love you sm!!! xx
Eleanor: she died of strangulation
Me having just watched the Mary bell case: ITS MARY BELL ITS FUKING MARY BELL
Gradual strangulation not leaving much of a mark, you say? Hm, that rings a bell. Shakes a tambourine or two
@@CoRLex-jh5vx rings a....mary bell
@@oizyzz by Jove, we've cracked the case!
😅😅😅
I hate all of y'all for making me laugh 🤣
Eleanor:" she WAS a 25 year old woman"
Me : I already know what that means
i know what you mean but it could be ‘x person was x age when they were kidnapped/attacked but survived’ i always try to have a slight amount of hope
why am already so hyped for the halloween series omg
I only just started watching her and im binging, shes doing a halloween series i cant wait!
"I think I've been incredibly fortunate. Partly in the legal representation I had, which couldn't have been better. And in the support I had - because I'm quite certain that I wouldn't have been able to cope if - on being released from custody - I'd had to stay in a bail hostel, or something like that. And then, and this was the most important thing as far as my relatives were concerned, that my rehabilitation was as public as the libel. So I do feel, as I say, incredibly fortunate." - Christopher Jeffries, speaking to The Guardian in 2014.
Not sure I could be that chill if I went through everything he did.
can we all just appreciate the collection of lip sticks in the back
no because it is really inappropriate and irrelevant to this woman's murder. Imagine if her relatives saw this video and then read your post.
@@AwfulDog1 Oh lighten up!...I loved his commrent...chuckle
@@mollyhorse I was probably having a serious moment...but still! LOL

50:00 - "When do you ever stop in the main entrance of a supermarket to reply to a text?"
Well, I've done it multiple times just the past few weeks...
It hits different
Jocelyn C. Well, not really. For me it’s still the same.
@@adamil92 me too most people do that I do all the time.
Yep, she made it seem so weird and said normal people would just wait till they got to their car or got home and I was like wtf I don't think that would be very normal lol
Fr, exactly what I said 😂
But also how does he remember that about 1 month after going to the supermarket, he stopped to text his girlfriend right at the entrance in front of a camera how tf would a person remember that
I remember texting my friend something funny 125 days ago
I remember texting my friend asking her abt something for school whilst walking by a yellow house
@@saarmstrong8558 but do you remember exactly where you were standing...?!?!
I tend to. I’m used to backtracking events because I’m clumsy. 😂 so now, i will remember events when I have to. Like the last time I messaged people
@@saarmstrong8558 yeah but fo you know what else happened that day?
