Aww, thank you so much. I appreciate the comment. It's always fun to get those hard to find clips out and share them with everyone isn't it??

Nine year old me was a huge fan of Murphy Martin back in the day. I always thought he and Bob Gooding were the best anchors in the business.
I also loved seeing the old Channel 8 logo again. 😎

That's a sweet shot of 8-Ball Eight at the end. Thanks for sharing!

Grew up remembering them playing Neil Diamond's African Trilogy.

0:58 That is the most jarring station ID sound I’ve ever heard. Was it meant to wake up people who fell asleep during the news?

Excellent clip. This had to have been from a 10p newscast. Can't believe they did a brief closing story after Verne's sportscast (which, when Tracy was on in later years, had always been the very last thing on the newscast prior to the "good night"). Guess the structure was different before. Good to see Murphy Martin again. Gooding must have been off that night.

    What's the music at 0:42?

What's the name of the music that plays at 0:42? It sounds similar to "Tar Sequence" by Lalo Schifrin.

Ch.8 did use "Cool Hand Luke: The Tar Sequence" for a time, as did several other TV stations with their news themes.

"Dawn Raid on Fort Knox" from "Goldfinger"

If anything, WFAA likes to stick with those news sets....sticking with that one until the fall of 1980.
