The Dragon King: first a freaking kid wreck up my house and family, and then a freaking monkey stole a pillar plug and causes typhoon and storms across the world.... Will anybody leave me alone.......
There's total 4 dragon kings. The east dragon king kept getting screwed. I wonder why no one really bother the north, west, and south dragon kings.

@@robertw3777 well this is a mythological story so probably inaccurate. I just know the dragon king is called the east dragon king. 东海龙王. 东 means east.
eh there's no "western sea" but yeah I've wondered why we don't hear about the other two dragon kings more often XD

Pretty sure he didn't just stab himself. I think the actual part was he separated his flesh and bones to return to his parents cause he believes the only people he still owe was his parents (flesh to mother, bones to father). This was why he didn't came back alive in his own body (it's was completely destroyed)

I only knew Sun Wukong as a Chinese legend, until the time I was playing Warframe and got interested on using one of their "frames" that has the name "Nezha". I've become addicted playing him, and an idea struck to my mind about doing a research about Nezha as a Chinese legend which brought me here. It's really an amazing history overview about Nezha, but then it was a bit sad when I read more stories about him which shows that he got a bad ending.
Here's the thing, the part after Nezha committed suicide. He talked to his mother through dream, the same way Taiyi Zhenren communicated to the latter, and gave her a request to build a temple as his resting place which she did so in secret. The temple had its own perk of curing diseases to the people. I dunno how, but it does some healing stuffs.
Then, there's his dad Li Jing, being a hateful scumbag all of a sudden by destroying the temple and that it provoked Nezha to anger and wants him dead as well. As the video said, he got back to life by Taiyi. Offering him his signature weapons, Wind Fire Wheels and Fire-tipped spear (but I wonder if he still has the Cosmic Wheel with him). And now it's Father vs. Son time, baby.
But of course, a normal human against a deity. What else to expect, other than the human getting his ass handed over to a deity? Then comes also the beginning of a sad ending: while Li Jing's running away, he encounters his second son Muzha which later on took Nezha's beating. While Li Jing was about to commit suicide, another Chinese god named "Wenshu Guangfa Tianzun" convinced him to stop and...well, Li Jing moved on and contained Nezha?? Damn, Nezha almost had what he wanted.
As if this isn't worst enough for Nezha, "Randeng Daoren" forced him to surrender to his dad. It really sucks to hear and learn about his undeserved tragedy and disgrace, IMO. At the end of the day, I hope that this wasn't the end of the Third Lotus Prince, just saying.

That's the one I know as well. And the reason he got in trouble is because he was playing on the beach with Ao Bing, and he accidentally killed him.

Nezha actually killed himself and separate his flesh, bones and return to his parents. There is a chinese idiom, basically flesh for the mom, bones for the dad.
we need an (sort of) Anime which is dealing with Nezha and Sun Wukong beeing rivals and fighting demons and gods

Ayeeeee I have this movie on VCR tape but it's the cantonese version. We call him Na Zha though... and in the movie he befriends the kid with 3 eyes and a bird boy. I think the movie is called Gods of Honour... it was a good movie.
The boy with three eyes is Erlang, one of the most powerful gods of war in heaven. He can convert 73 times, and he is not bad with Sun Wukong.

Wow! The dragon kings palace seems like the always trembling throne of lord Indra the god of rains and monsoon in Hindu mythology. Loved this story.

+ryutheslayer123 do you mean the 混天绫? Which is like a long sash and length but is like fireproof and if it cut into pieces, just a little left can turn back normal . And it's red , a lot of his weapons are red or gold. It one of the first weapon he got along with the 乾坤圈 which is “hula hoop " thing that can change size. ?

I watched this on a Vietnamese play called 'ngay xua ngay xua Natra' meaning once upon a time and the story name. The endings were different because I guess because it was a play for children? But both of the stories are really cool. Btw Anyone else watched that version?

This legend is echoing to many of the events that happened in the Mahabharata. This is how we realize that we are all connected and our cultures are all connected, but differently interpreted throughout time. I love watching Mike and Dan! Sad that they are not gonna be making videos together anymore.

the animation film of this story was amazing - i saw the BBC version - they had changed some of the music from the original - both versions are great :)

This story and the accompanying cartoon was the very reason I decided to learn Chinese! I fell in love with the colors and mythology as a child and here I am now studying the language (and of course the culture)! :D

Man I remember this shit from when I was little, watching those old Hong Kong movies, what memories. Nezha was basically Astro-Boy of old.

The Legend of Nezha was a great anime in my childhood. It's him, it's him, our little hero, Nezha! Haha, I could always remember the ending song.
OMG this is sooo cooll! In the Indian epic Mahabaratha-Gandhari, the wife of King Dhritarashtra, was pregnant for two years but also gave birth to a lump of flesh instead of a child. In her grief and anger, she was about to throw it, but the sage Vyasa intervened and instructed her to cut the mass into 100 pieces. These pieces were placed in jars of ghee, and over time, they developed into her 100 sons, the Kauravas, including the eldest, Duryodhana who was a crucial character in this epic saga. I love how our cultures have some awesome stories with similar points of birth!
